Using new patcher. Have deleted and re-downloaded minecraft.jar file multiple times to no avail.
I've tried installing the texture pack first and then trying to run from the patcher and also using just the patcher to install the texture pack. I've tried installing texture pack manually, then re-installing it with the patcher.
What am I missing?
EDIT:
Running Minecraft from the main shortcut produces no errors or crashes so far and my lava/magma/water is animated now as well. So it looks as if the error is with the patcher. I'm not going to complain though, as the patcher gave me animated water and stuff again.

Does anyone know if/when we can fix our textures? I keep getting errors, and i really want to use Nurio's Splotchblock Pack :3 I guess I'll have to use the original textures for now. Oh wel...

Sorry I missed a bunch of posts, the forums stopped emailing me. I'll try to respond later when the forums are less broken.
Here is an experimental update that should work with the latest minecraft update:
Heyy, i use mac and wen i run the 1.1.7 patcher using jar launcher, nothing pops up, am i using the wrong program to open the patch? if so, can any1 tell me which app they use to open the patch? thxs.
I used the new 1.1.7 patcher to install Emperorr's pack, and my portals now look like this:
My guess is they need to be tweaked somehow, like for animated fire, water and lava? I don't know enough about the process to even begin to know what to do to remedy this. I tried locating something to do with the portal texture in the minecraft.jar file, but had no success there.
Yea same for me. After the update today the 1.1.7 patcher wont work for me. Of course after i stayed up till 3 am customizing a new HD pack for myself.
And yes i completely wiped the bin folder several times trying to figure out what was wrong with the patcher. :sad.gif:
Now that I think of it more, I didn't just delete the old minecraft.original.jar - I copied the new minecraft.jar over to a new minecraft.original.jar before I ran the patcher.

Just tried that didnt work for me. I'm installing a 128x pack. What specific options did you use? maybe its one of the custom lava/water/better grass options thats messing it up.

I installed a customized version of nickhimself's 256x pack, and I have animated water/lava off, animated fire on, custom water/lava on, bettergrass off.
Also, I don't install the textures with the patcher - I use jar (comes with the sun java jdk I believe) to add the new files in before running the patcher.
jar -uf ~/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.original.jar -C ~/"My Games"/Minecraft/NickhimselfHD/ .
java -jar ~/.minecraft/mcpatcher-1.1.7.jar
Cheers
ps. I'm running linux, obviously you'll need to modify the paths to use those commands in windows
I figured out my problem. I always just put my custom terrain into the stock minecraft.jar then patched it. But now I guess I have to actually select that its a custom texture pack after ive put my stuff into a new .jar file and patch it like that. Seems to work just fine now. Thanks for the help.

Totally agree
Also is there a way I can remove the 1.1.7 patch? I wanna use the 1.1.6 one again, maybe this will fix the above problem?

I ran this on my mac and got the following error:
Also can still see fire in blocks:
1.1.6 will presumably not work with the new update at all.
Also, that 0.0mb issue is Notch's fault, not this patch.
It happens with the unmodified too.

If you look closely, the default texture swirls as the screen effect when you stand in it does.
It worked fine for me, just make sure you delete your old minecraft.original.jar before you try patching.

On the bad side, it slaughtered my game and made it run at about .3 FPS.
Oh well.
