Also, will you be adding custom animation for waterfalls?
There is already custom flowing water, or do you mean something else?
Well the default texture pack has a few tiles for water. One for still water, a few for flowing water, but it also has a separate tile for vertical flowing water, or waterfalls. I had planned to make the animation for waterfalls and flowing water different.
Whenever I try and install it using the method I've used before (I've installed regular doku with no problems), the patching process seems to hang indefinitely on 18%.
If you're on Windows, make sure you're using the latest version of the .exe. If you're on Mac/Linux, you need to run the patcher from the terminal with: java -Xmx512m -jar mcpatcher-1.1.6.jar
This isn't working on my mac. Every time I try to patch minecraft.jar, it gives me this error:
Someone please help! While using this on my mac and trying to use it with the brown and bloom texture pack, it froze at 82 % so I exited it. after trying to delete it and the brown and bloom pack, I try to load up minecraft and it says
Updating Minecraft: Done Loading and freezes.
but it also has a separate tile for vertical flowing water, or waterfalls
As far as I know it uses the same tile for everything. If you make the tiles distinct and disable animations does it use the different tiles?

Any chance you could make this work with larger textures, say 1024x1024?
No.

No classes match for Minecraft
Use the latest version of the patcher.

Somebody please give me instructions
run the patcher from the terminal with: java -Xmx512m -jar mcpatcher-1.1.6.jar
If you just want to reset then hit the "Minecraft Folder" button the patcher and delete the file called "version" and run Minecraft again normally.

Hmm, seems like I have misjudged the usage. For whatever reason the 4 extra water tiles are all for flowing water O.o
It would be possible if not for the fact the one tile being used for falling water is also integrated into the flowing water, so you'd end up with a miss-match of textures.
For whatever reason the 4 extra water tiles are all for flowing water O.o
Ha, that explains a lot. I can't believe I never figured out that that's what was going on. The reason it does that is because it takes a rotated square out of the middle of those 4 to use as a texture on water flowing various directions. So if it just used a normal tile, when it was rotated 45 degrees it would have parts of the surrounding tiles on the edges.
Anyway it looks doable, I'll look into it after the update. thanks for running the experiment~
Thanks a bunch xau. Although I saved my minecraft by deleting version from the folder, Terminal gives me stuff like "unable to access file". If you haven't noticed, I'm kind of a noob with computers, so I don't really know when to press enter and whatnot in terminal. If you get the chance, could you briefly walk me through that?
i got a problem! please help me!!! heres the error i get:

I had the same problem. The program creates a copy of the minecraft.jar as "minecraft.original.jar". To restore your game and try again, delete the minecraft.jar and rename the minecraft.original.jar to it.
ALSO:
I think there should be very explicit instructions on the first page for Windows users to put this .exe file INTO THE BIN FOLDER before you run it. As it stands, I "followed the instructions" that were listed numerically and ran into problems. I wasn't wearing my glasses, so I could have missed this bit of information in the original post. Excuse me if I did, I am a newb. It was only through reading all the responses that I figured out how to use this and it was well worth the extra research! It's running great now!
Why does this not work for me, im usualy good at this stuff and im almost positive im doing it right but it freezes, says 0%, never changes even when i left it like that all night, then if i try agian right after it says the file is not avialable to open so i have to redownload the version file to fix.
Don't know if this question has been answered already, but it's a long thread and I can't find it via search.
I have the option for custom water/lava with animations checks, but I'm not sure where to draw my custom textures/animations for it. I put it in the bottom right boxes but my water is still a blue square.
Do i hafta put them in a special file or something?
I was using this patcher for the Better Grass. I use a 16x16 texture. I found myself crashing constantly upon taking a few steps in only one of my Minecraft save files. If I turn off the patcher, the game works fine again, and when I turn it back on problems start again.
I do not get an error on any other save files or MP games. I thought it had to do with the compass, or maybe being in a snow world, but I incinerated my compass and still crashed, as well as spawned a different snow world where I did not crash.
I changed my skin to a 64x64 skin and I'm not crashing anymore. Is it tied to that skin causing errors somehow? But the skin didn't cause errors before I started using the patcher.

Whenever I try to patch my files, all it does it revert all the textures (everything in the minecraft.jar) back to its former state, which was Doku's RPG pack with a little zelda overhaul mixed in. I cant figure out whats going wrong, so I'm hoping you can help?
You should only use the patcher on a clean minecraft.jar, and install the texture pack via the patcher.
Uhm... I don't see it? There should be 5 blocks arranged in the bottom-right corner like this:
This is the terrain.png from my texture pack.
In this picture i just put a bunch of orange lines everywhere, in all the boxes. The point was that there are modified pictures in those areas, but I still don't see orange lines or anything else in my water ingame.
Found out what I was doing wrong though. I had to check the box that said 'texture pack' and link it to the original minecraft.jar file with the water texture. Which brings me to my final question: how do I make lava 'animate' (not scroll, but change color while still)
is there a way to reverse the patch because now im never able to play the game because i can only play minecraft on the browser since my java virtual machine is messed up.
i payed money for the game and i expect to be able to play it
Kemaro, delete minecraft.jar and rename minecraft.original back to minecraft.jar.
If all else fails, delete everything in the 'bin' folder then run the launcher - it will redownload all the needed files.
Erm, I don't know any java. So is there a download for one of the older versions? I don't want the bettergrass mod
EDIT: Honestly, I don't get why people combine mods like this. Some of us may only want one of the mods. For example, I don't like the look of Bettergrass.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
That is the full error displayed by this jar: http://github.com/downloads/pclewis/mcpatcher/mcpatcher-1.1.6.jar. When I run it against the current version of Minecraft.jar for Mac OSX from minecraft.net here: http://minecraft.net/download/Minecraft.zip?v=1288197761568. There are no other details provided by the error log. I'm basically just trying to run the patch you provided on the OSX version of Minecraft.jar and it says "error in opening zip file" every time.
I had the same problem. The program creates a copy of the minecraft.jar as "minecraft.original.jar". To restore your game and try again, delete the minecraft.jar and rename the minecraft.original.jar to it.

1. I am not currently using any other mods.
2. I was using Nerolucien's 16x16 Link to the Past with crashing.
3. I am now using Dancrum's 64x64 Animal Crossing without errors.
