I haven't had much time to work on the new stuff lately, as my mom has had some surgery done and almost all of my free time is spent picking up the slack.
Anyways, just a small in-game preview showing off some of the new tweaks and changes:
As I said, it'll hopefully be like an entirely new pack
But don't fret! Those who like the old style will be glad to hear someone has agreed to help me out and soon there will be a customizer! While my friend is coding it, I'm going to be collaborating with him and working out the interface and such and I have a great one in mind already, so hopefully you will not only be able to customize the pack to your liking, but do so in a bitchin' way!
Because I have my own ideas of what I want in a customizer
As for the rails, ya I realize that but... deal with it! (kidding, but seriously... you'll have to cope... or customize!)
This is exactly the reason why customizers rock. Texture pack artists are jackasses.
I kid, I kid.
The real reason is that a difference in opinion can quickly be resolved by clicking on a different style and then everyone is happy.
You know what? I vote that we petition for Optifine to add in where you can have different ground and slant rail textures. It's not a BIG deal, but that could be cool.
The customizer is underway and it's looking great! I love playing with it, but more importantly I feel like there's a bit of weight lifted off of my shoulders. No longer do I have to think so hard and make decisions to exclude different tastes/people. It was always a matter of practically ignoring a minority when it came to certain tiles, brushing their tastes aside. I'm so glad that I don't have to pick and choose what graphics I like more, and in fact give everyone a little choice and variety in what they want. There's not much there now, but eventually I hope to fill it up with lots of alternatives as I get bored and have time to throw together a few tiles.

Can't wait to share all the new changes!
Is there an ETA on this customizer? I'm really excited to mess with it! Also... If you expand the customizer, there may not be a reason for you to totally branch out and make a new pack. If you can set flavors such as "Dusty - Classic" or "Dusty - Dark" or whatever then this customizer could become extremely versatile. The only point you have to watch out for is when it gets too crowded. I'd say about five different styles max for each block.
No ETA on the customizer. I think eventually if it becomes at least workable(in that you can customize terrain.png and spit out a zip for you) then I will release it then and improve it over time. I don't know yet though. I still have to work on the site design to complement the customizer, and right now it's only customizing terrain.png(which I'm okay with). And yes, the customizer was intended to be my solution instead of branching into another pack.
I also want to add in a global brightness and saturation slider, that will allow people to make the pack as bright/dark/saturated/desaturated as they please.
I don't think crowding will be an issue as it is insanely easy to customize and user-friendly Like I said, there's a reason I chose not to use one of the many other customizers floating around.
Right now my free time is very limited, so I hardly get time to sit down and work on my textures. Thankfully my friend is the one coding the customizer so that shouldn't impede on progress of that... but I still need to design my site.
Happy with my new stone slab. Decided to turn it into a pillar. Works like a step, while also being able to be built up into a nice pillar design
-SNIP-
And yes, before anyone asks the pillar structure does come in a non-segmented pattern.
Wow... That pillar looks amazing! You're doing great work with your pack. I've never seen a column look so good. They often look really out of place in Minecraft because they're supposed to be cylindrical, but this one takes the cake!
Anyone here have any skill stitching together panorama and such? I have an idea for a background picture and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to pull it off.
What I want to do is start with a normal screenshot at the top of what a Minecraft world looks like with my texture pack, then have the image pan down underground. I might take a stab at it but I have literally no experience, so if anyone here does let me know please.
I just found this page in my bookmarks, i seem to remember this from when you first started making it. Its still a really good texture pack, I'll definitely be using this from now on.
On another note I noticed that your Iron Ore doesn't stand out very well from the Stone, perhaps give it a more brown/orange-ish Hue.
Just wanted to come back here and say thanks. This did what I needed in more than one way. I got my site bg done and I also got a nice little panorama for the title screen(which I have never been able to do).

It's just a mock-up, so things will need to be touched-up and fixed. However the customizer itself is actually somewhat functional. Not gonna spoil too much right now though.

I'm assuming the numbers represent how many different textures there are for said block, right?

Yes, but there's no need for me to rush and get all the alternatives up right now since it's not finished(and doesn't need them uploaded to be finished).

It looks awesome! Your style has really changed over the past year.

Diamonds all around!
Thanks, stick around for big changes!

Love the mockup!
EDIT: New Page: Here's the mockup for those who don't want to look back to comment:
