This is great! I've been wanting a tool like this for quite a while.
It seems like you've thought of pretty much all the basics. One thing I might see being useful is the ability to add custom blocks. This would allow people to make schematics for modded minecraft as well.

EDIT: Head's up to any fellow Linux users or Mac OS users, no working download at the minute.
Sorry, there probably won't be a linux or mac version for some time, if ever. I have zero experience programming for those operating systems so I'd have to learn everything from scratch before I could even get started

That is definitely one of the features I want to add, but as of now I don't have Minecraft for the PC, so it would be hard to test, but the code library I'm using to read the .schematic files boasts that it can write them as well, so it's for sure something I will add in the future.

Would be really cool if you could add your own blocks and even maybe import models for those. Would be really useful for modders, I would find it useful at least.
Agreed and it's one of the features I'll add sooner rather than later.

Any nudge in the right direction would be fantastic! I haven't really used Linux since my 'Intro to Linux' course in college and they never touched programming, and I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

You do know MCP is also the "Minecraft Coder Pack" (The minecraft Source Code (I Think...))
May I suggest a program like " WineBottler " for the Mac port?
Any ol' Linux user knows how to use either VB or WINE anyways.. No point porting it.
Yea, I've been made aware of the name conflict. Thankfully they're two very different things, and probably not going to be confused, so I'm leaving it for now, until I can come up with a new name I like. Suggestions are welcome!
Thanks for the port tip, I'll look into it.

Sorry all, I've been busy lately. Just a small minor update today, I've added brewing stands and fixed a handful of 3D bugs. Oh and your settings/custom textures should be saved when updating the program now.
In case you're all wondering, I've been working hard on a new way to manage your texture and resource packs to include custom models and blocks. I hope to have something to show for that soon.

Is the export to .schematic idea still on your to-do list? That's the one feature that would really make your tool stand out.
Yes still on the list. I will have to get my hands on a PC copy before I start, for obvious reasons, but it is still very much something I want to include.

I may be completely overlooking something, but for the life of me I can not find a large amount of blocks. I understand that Right Click brings up additional block types for each icon, but I can't find anything redstone related (i.e. dust, hopper, comparator, repeater, etc.) or a chest (single or double, trapped or just a normal chest.)

Yes a lot of blocks are missing still.
But (and you'll like this I hope) in the new version that I am currently working on, anything considered a "block" will be included. So that includes all the redstone pieces. I'm nearly done and should be finished with it in a week or so. Thanks for giving it a shot!

You've done something great here. It really is fantastic, I was just making sure I wasn't missing anything. I look forward to future builds.
Thanks. It's coming soon, I just have to write up some documentation. I should get an intern....
