Ever wanted to chuck a copy of Minecraft onto a thumbdrive? Then take that copy of minecraft everywhere you go? Or maybe you want to install it in a fixed location somewhere on one of your drives? (That means you can easily backup your world by copying the Minecraft Portable folder!)
Or maybe you like to play different mods, but find it a hassle to change between them? Well not anymore! You can now keep different versions of minecraft in their own folders!
Recent updates include...
New uses the new native windows launcher from minecraft (it downloads it for you too!)
Now has a mod launcher that allows you to install patching programs like Optifine and Forge with ease!
The native windows launcher now takes care of java for you! Including working out if you need 32bit or 64bit java.
Very nice, I would use, but I don't need to be portable. Downloading anyways because I know just how hard it is to come out of the blue with a great idea and succeed. You should try my program. (See my siggy!) All you need to do to support me is just download!
Cheers, not everyone needs this but those that do will love it
I agree. And like PixelDrum said, it will become very easy to use modded JARs with this. On a side note, anyone happen to know why C# .NET can't start a Java process with more that one gig of RAM?

This would be extremely handy for those wanting to switch between different modded versions of Minecraft. Well done The_Jakal!
I know right? That is a planned expansion for the future, some kind of menu to choose between 'modded minecrafts in there own folder' and how much ram to use.

I have been googling like crazy to figure this out, but if anyone else knows that would be really good to know, if I have to I might look into learning a little about c++ and using that to increase ram size instead.
I've found it out! Somehow, by using simply "javaw.exe" in our Process Start Info, it defaults to the 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit. The 32-bit Java can only use one GB of memory in its operations. Change "javaw.exe" to @"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" so Java is started in 64-bit mode.

Niccceeee!!!!! well i guess ima gonna go test. damn, and i was going to go to bed. lmfao
but yes, a custom logo would help sell your program much better.
I was planning on updating it in the next version.
This is for those that dont know, im pretty new at this (I tried java once and it was to difficult to give me a chance at learning. Hopefully after i learn more of c# i can go back and try again or even c++), im self taught (well tutorials) and this is my first try at making a useful program, this is only the prototype for a future project. But that's in the future so I cant say any more.
Well good on you regardless. I had to do the exact same thing. I just waited until I learned a LOT before releasing my first program, hence its complete and utter beauty! You will get there, just have patience. BTW if any1 is up for it, please post on my topic... My download rate has been cut in fourths since it fell into the second page...

I think its pretty much done for now. The progam allows you to put minecraft wherever you want, and it allows you to have many copies (for different mods) and it has java included now too. (there are way too many places that java could be installed to! so if i was going to get it to work with 8gbs ram i had to include it for simplicities sake)
It works on 32bit and 64bit windows (xp, vista, 7 and now 8) the only thing you need with this version is dotnet 4.0. (minecraft will use the java included so you dont even need to install it first!)
In the future there might be updates done but i dont know. anyways enjoy!
ok what seems to be the problem? what version is your OS? what version of the launcher are you using? (32bit or 64bit) I have noticed that sometimes the 32bit version doesn't work on a 64bit windows.... so if that is your problem try the 64bit version

It's actually the default icon throughout Visual Studio, but yes, a custom logo would help sell your program much better.

sorry for the slow responses, i just moved house and only have occasional access to a usb mobile broadband....
I had another thought about your problem... the launcher needs .net framework 4.0 to be installed (its written in c#) hopefully that fixes it for you.
You can find it on the microsoft website here.... http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=17718
