Well, I actually just found out that Risugami's mods are the only ones causing the crash. That can probably be blamed on the mixing of modloader and forge mods. I tested out Chickenshed, and that works fine with no crashes.
It seems like everything is working as it should be. Thanks for the info about setting it all up.
Risugami's mods tend to break after a major minecraft update and he tends to just rush the mods out rather then check and make sure they work properly. I have nothing against him its just that's one of the main reasons forge is getting used more often then modloader mods
I am not sure what reason there is for this, however it seems that by setting your profile to 1920x1080 + Maximised, does not infact maximise the window entirely as before, therefore I find the bottom text cut off + border left-side.
Since this issue was not with 1.5 for me, I feel that the problem does not lay at my end, however the picture below will show this.
Note; the left border should be gone and the bottom half should be shifted up, which corrected if I maximise it manually.
Wouldn't a borderless option be a great alternative. No, not fullscreen.
I'm pretty sure the issue here is that you are forcing the game to occupy a 1080p resolution, but the menu bars and such are taking up space around the screen making the avaliable area that you can see Minecraft smaller than 1080p. You could try and measure the number of pixels that those take up and subtract that from the resolution you request, or just live with it.
Here are the steps to get Forge to work with Magic Launcher for 1.6.1 Just make sure you have installed minecraft 1.6.1 with the vanilla launcher before doing anything else.
1) Download the latest Forge Installer for 1.6.1. Do not download the universal jar. or the src files they arn't needed.
2) For windows users right click on Forge Installer and select open with
a ) click on choose default program
b ) select Java™ Platform SE binary and click okay
3) Make sure Install Client is selected and click on the ok
4) After the install open Vanilla Minecraft Launcher
5)Under Profile make sure to select Forge
6) Now log into Minecraft as normal so that Forge can finish the installation.
7) After Minecraft gets to the Menu screen close it and Open Magic Launcher
8) Go to Setup in Magic Launcher and change enviroment to Forge
9) Click okay and log into Minecraft. Magic Launcher will now be running Minecraft with Forge.
10) Once everything else is done just install mods as you always have with Magic Launcher.
*NOTE* Mods added to Magic Launcher will still say no Forge or Modloader when installed this way. How ever Forge and Minecraft will still see the mods and load them.
Hope this helps every one. Happy modding everyone.
I get this when I try to open the forge profile on the launcher.

trying out the magic launcher again since i finally decided to figure how to run it with new launcher. I have no sound. yesterday i had no sound, i closed and launched with the minecraft launcher and had sound, closed it and opened again with magic launcher and sound worked. I try to play today with magic launcher and no sound again, cant get it to work no matter what. i even deleted .minecraft and downloaded so it would be a fresh clean install. still no sound with magic launcher. So is it a bug or am i missing something.
Does Magic Launcher detect forge yet? I can load the forge jar file as the minecraft jar, but it it doesn't do anything. And I try to load it as a mod, but it says "not compatible. Forge 8.9.0.768.
Edit: Whelp.....NEEEVVEERRRR MIND. Just saw the post above.
I think that the most recent version of forge (8.9.0.768) is unstable, as my game crashed every time I tried to use it to install magiclauncher for 1.6. (the previous version worked, but appears to break sound).
I only installed ModLoader and Rei's MiniMap, currently running on 1.6.1 and i have no sound, i checked all system sounds and it doesnt even come up. Please help someone.
After helping my kids and their friends figure this out today, and reading the recent posts on this thread, I realized that it wasn't really clear to everyone how to get this working with 1.6.1. So I thought I would share my notes with the community in the hope that it would help. Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules or treading on any toes here.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing work of sp614x and Magic Launcher.
Thanks!
[EDIT] I just noticed d-man557's video tutorial above posted while I was writing this up. I'm not much for videos, so if you prefer that style, scroll up!
Before you begin
Exit out of everything MC related. Totally out.
Note: This was tested with ML 1.1.6 and MC 1.6.1. Other combinations may require changes to these steps.
Update Magic Launcher
If you have not, download and install the current MagicLauncher from here:
Launch it and make sure you see this at the bottom of the screen (assuming 1.1.6 is current version)
Exit out of Magic Launcher
Update Minecraft Client
Go to http://minecraft.net/ and download the current client (at the time of this writing, it is 1.6.1) client.
Note that Minecraft uses a new launcher with 1.6 so you cannot auto-update from your older client.
Once you have downloaded it and put it somewhere on your system (I use C:\Minecraft), run it. This is important, we are running the 1.6 launcher manually at this point, we are not running Magic Launcher (yet).
After it thinks for a bit and downloads some stuff you should see something like this in the launcher:
Enter your login credentials, and click Play. More stuff will be downloaded, and then the game will start.
Confirm that you are in version 1.6 on the Main Menu screen, then click Quit Game
At this point you can now use Magic Launcher, but if you want to maintain both 1.5.2 and 1.6.1 clients locally, you should continue on to the next steps.
[Optional] If you want, you can go to the Profile Editor tab in the MC Launcher, double click on the (Default) profile and rename it to something like "Release 1.6.1".
Create a Minecraft 1.5.2 Profile
After the last step, you should have returned to the Minecraft Launcher, but if you did not, start it again.
Click the New Profile button and in the popup dialog, give it a good name and choose the 1.5.2 version. Click Save Profile to save your setup.
You now have both 1.6.1 and 1.5.2 enabled in the official Minecraft launcher! Congrats.
Again, exit out of everything before proceeding.
Important Magic Launcher uses the Minecraft 1.6 launcher to download and enable different MC client versions. If you did not do the steps above, you may not have different choices in your Environment list in Magic Launcher. If that happens, go back to the top and make sure you didn't skip anything.
Configure Magic Launcher
Start Magic Launcher again. Assuming you already have some configurations in ML that you created for 1.5.2, you will want to select each of them, click Setup, and choose the 1.5.2 Environment that you created in the last step. If you do not see 1.5.2 in the list, read Important Notes above and do the Create a Minecraft 1.5.2 Profile step again.
I recommend you name your ML Configurations to indicate which MC client they depend on. This will help you ensure that each configuration uses the correct mod version for that client. For example, I name mine things like "1.5.2 No Mods", "1.5.2 SSP", and "1.5.2 SMP".
Create a new blank ML Configuration for 1.6.1 (I named mine "1.6.1 No Mods"). Choose the "-" option in Copy From to create a blank Configuration, then click OK.
In the Environment section for this new configuration, choose the 1.6.1 Environment:
You should now be able to launch all of your original 1.5.2 configurations and the new 1.6.1 configuration from Magic Launcher!
A note about client mods and MC 1.6.x
As mods become available for this client version, you can add them to your new 1.6.1 ML Configuration.
I've said it before, but it is worth repeating, you should not assume your favorite 1.5.2 mods will work. Test each mod, even when new versions come one, one mod at a time. If one fails, remove it from the list and try another.
If a mod you're looking for is not there yet, try back again later or check that mod's forum thread to see if there have been any updates.
One more time: Just because a mod worked in 1.5.2 does not mean it will work in 1.6.1. Be patient, be polite and remember that Magic Launcher and the mods you love are made by friendly volunteers who do this on their own time.
how do i can type the enviroment 1.6.1??? i have only the classic one...
Run the vanilla launcher and start the game, then exit, that way it has the necessary files. I had that problem, too. It's especially confusing if it's like my setup.
I have minecraft on my HDD (rather than my SSD). Drive D:\. Then, I have a batch file that transfers all the data to the RAM Drive, drive B:\, then it launches Magic Launcher from there. So when something goes wrong, I get files scattered across B, C, and D drives.
Something is up with the sound. It works fine with the normal launcher but with this, its there when i load up minecraft but in one minute, it goes away. Any ideas why?
I only installed ModLoader and Rei's MiniMap, currently running on 1.6.1 and i have no sound, i checked all system sounds and it doesnt even come up. Please help someone.
I have the same 2 mods I run, and I have the same problem. No sound at all. Vanilla launcher is fine but ML and those mods, no sound.
On Minecraft 1.5.2 I tried mod forge universal and little blocks universal, but when I press test it shows the mojang screen like normal and then it says:
*******************************************************************************
Forge Mod Loader has found a problem with your installation
You have mod sources that are duplicate within your system

anyone know how to fix this?

Risugami's mods tend to break after a major minecraft update and he tends to just rush the mods out rather then check and make sure they work properly. I have nothing against him its just that's one of the main reasons forge is getting used more often then modloader mods
I'm pretty sure the issue here is that you are forcing the game to occupy a 1080p resolution, but the menu bars and such are taking up space around the screen making the avaliable area that you can see Minecraft smaller than 1080p. Go to setup, then change the environment from Classic to 1.6.1
I get this when I try to open the forge profile on the launcher.
