Downloaded the software a week ago, worked flawlessly to make a map that's a huge dramatic improvement!
(I slightly miss my old cave map that highlighted lit/dark areas... I used it to help figure out what areas I still needed to explore under my main developments, but I'll be frank, the improvements totally outweigh losing that one map, and maybe I can tweak settings enough to get it, I haven't ventured off the defaults).
I do have one question - any thoughts to making nether and end labels? I thought that perhaps prefixing labels with [nether] and [end] or something similar could let the software display them only on the appropriate maps. No tag for day/night/cave map, special tag needed for nether and ender labels.
Hi !
Thank you for this program, using it for my personal server and it work great.
Just a few things, the Render Biome option seems not to work, why ?
Colored wood in the last update are invisible on the map, is there a fix ?
Appears to be working well for 1.4.6 maps (at least renders all of the current one Im playing)
Was searching for ages for a decent map viewer last night, just wanted to take a nice shot of the server world I'm currently running, this works great!
Only thing I would like, an option for a super-high resolution render, so you can zoom in a few more steps. Not many seem to do this.
Good work though, this is the kind of thing I like to see.
Does anybody know an easy way for me to share the map I generated with other people on Tumblr?
Preferably some way to host it on Tumblr... but if not, is there some other site I can host it on, then post a link or something?
Or should I just upload the files for other people to download and see? Sorry, I could probably ask on Tumblr, but it's easier to explain Tumblr here than it is to explain all of Minecraft to Tumblr if you know what I mean...

ERROR: mcmap exited with error. Aborting.
Can you help?
Thanks.
I think I may have identified the cause of the error. There may be a maximum size that the map can be. There's one bit of my world in the far west that when I try and include in the map the render stops with the error. When I use MCEdit to delete those chunks the map will render fine.
Beeeaaauuuutiful. Worked first time using the GUI.
But, I added a couple of test labels to my map and they didn't show...?
And could I suggest:
1. When the 'open last render' button is pushed that it actually opens the .html file to display in the browser?
No problem now to double click the .html file, but I don't quite see the point of the button if it doesn't actually display the render.
2. I couldn't see a button in the GUI for biome colours.
Thanks for making it all so easy!
oh...and a zoom bar in top left like on google maps so we can see easily how far in/out we are in the grand scheme of things...
Hi i recently downloaded this and its really easy to use and renders really quick which is awesome, but i'm having a problem with hosting in on drop box, your tutorial makes it seem really easy but its not working for me at all, i think something must have changed since the first post was last updated because drop box only seems to host the files and not let you open the html file, it only give the option to download it (public side) but even when i try to open it it just brings up a small black screen with no gui or any images. it works fine on my home pc but from drop box it does nothing. I dont know if i'm just doing it wrong or if drop box has changed somthing.
Could someone have a look at hosting a small map on a new drop box account and see if it works for you.
Or if you know what i am doing wrong let me know?
Thanks for your help
I had the same problem. As a result I've been painstakingly trying to load the files onto a free webs.com site I have, but since it only allows you to upload one file at a time and there are hundreds of files, this is not an easy method.

I found that the spawn label wasn't being created automatically, nor were any labels that I entered (both through the GUI and by editing the .txt file) showing on the map. What happened?
Currently compatible with Minecraft 1.3.* (mcmapDZ itself should be compatible with nearly all updates, but you will need to download the latest version of mcmap if I haven't updated it myself)
Has anyone here seen this error come up and is there a fix?: rwpng libpng error: Too many IDAT's found rwpng_read_image() error
ERROR: pngquant exited with error. Aborting. Thanx
Hoping this gets a nice big update now that MC1.72 has new biomes and pretty glass blocks. I'm sure if we get a whole flame-spam of "Me too!" following this message that somebody talented will be nice enough to update MCMapper and provide a new colours.txt system that has the block names and some support for other mods.
Yeah, that would be really nice! (not sure if isometric view is going to help with the new Amplified world type though - WAY TOO VERTICAL!)
I dont think he's going to update it, Look how its still 1.3, he hasnt bothered about .4, .5, or .6
I am getting an error when I try to render a Direwolf map
When it gets to writing the labels, it said there are labels file found
Then it said Traceback: and then gives me a bunch of files in C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Temp\_MEI94842\eggs\nbt-1.1-py2.7.egg\nbt\nbt.py line 292 in __init__
And then it has a bunch more... The same path, but different lines.
And then at the end it said ValueError: Unrecognized tag type
Has anyone figured a way to separate the labels by type? It'd be nice to have separate pools for e.g. temples, NPC villages, natural features and player-built structure, with different and customizable text colours for each type.
I well know that mcmapDZ is built on top of mcmap (which gets updated regularly) but at least DZ itself would benefit from UI updates in its generated index.htm files.

thx, but will it be updated?

Everything seemed well until it finished and looked like this:
I have backups of older version of the server which worked fine but my most recent version comes out all chopped up like this. Any help please?
I feel it's likely not working with 1.7.2 now that I think about it.
When it gets to writing the labels, it said there are labels file found

Any suggestions?
