Sorry if the question I am about to ask is "noobish"... I am new to map gen and editing and well I don't know how I would go about making a "ready to play single player world"... So when i make a map and save it as a .world what do i do from there to make it playable?

Hey Capt Chaos, how do you manage the biomes? If I were to want an all rainy biome to populate my map how would I do that?
You find a seed with lots of rainy biomes. It rains in all biomes except taiga, tundra and desert. The easiest way is to look for lots of green (and no white), since it rains in all those biomes.
EDIT: Also, what do the different shades of colour when selecting a biome mean?
White means a snowy biome (taiga or tundra) and green means a biome with lots of trees (forest, seasonal forest, rainforest and taiga). The white areas are always relevant, since it will snow there, and water will freeze. The green areas are only relevant if you let Minecraft populate the terrain, since that is where it will generate trees, although you can also use it to determine where it will rain (it will rain outside the green areas too though).
But, i have ONE slight problem. You see i am on Windows and i tried the jarfix, which didn't work, and i also tried to install Java but couldn't for some reason :sad.gif: So i was wondering if you could make a DIFFERENT version, that isn't a .jar file?
When the program is finished I will probably provide an installer for people on Windows. That will be a little while yet though.
In the mean time you really ought to be able to get the program to run. Everybody else here has been able to. You say that jarfix "didn't work", exactly what happened when you tried it? And why couldn't you install Java?
I just uploaded a new release of WorldPainter, with the following changes:
The biomes layer now shows rainforest (which has denser trees) as a darker green, and it now also shows desert as yellow. This means that it is easier to see where it might rain (anywhere that isn't white or yellow).
The program will now send anonymous usage statistics to me, but only after asking your permission. Feel free to say no, but I would really appreciate it if you said yes, as I am very curious how many people use my program, how often they use it, those kinds of things. The information doesn't include any personal information, and I will never give or sell it to anyone else.
If the program can't read it's configuration file it will reset the configuration (and notify you of this), instead of crashing.
Download the new release here, or from the top post.
Could you add a function that allows you to import a heightmap? Especially a large one? That way people could make maps of countries and stuff and then paint the smaller details in.
It's a bit unconventional, since it is a program and not a document, but it shouldn't cause problems otherwise.
Hmmm. I had hoped the full error message might tell me exactly what's going wrong, but unfortunately it doesn't. It seems that the configuration file got corrupted somehow, no telling any more how exactly.
In my previous post I suggested you could fix it by deleting the config file. Have you tried that?
I looked where you suggested the config file is, but I could not find it in that directory.

Try the latest version of the program. I changed it so that if it can't load the configuration file it resets the configuration, instead of crashing. Hopefully it should then work again for you!
Recently switched to Linux, and this is one of the tools that just works fine, had to chmod it to make it executable, but after that it worked just as it always has in XP, ( actually a little smoother, less OS overhead or something).
Had to install Sun-java6.jre, but I'd have to do that for Minecraft anyhow :smile.gif:
Hey, So I want to Download it but..
It says "The file can harm your computer are you sure you want to download WorldPainter.Jar?"

That's just the warning that your computer will give for any .jar file. It's a popular format for viruses, so they put that warning there to make sure people check to make sure they trust what they're downloading. Click "allow" or whatever the button is to ignore the warning, and you can install WorldPainter. It won't harm your computer.
I've generated the world, and have exported it to my documents area. It's saved as a .world . How should I get it from their into my save file and make it work.

If it's a .world file you didn't export it, you saved it. To get it into minecraft you need to export it (File -> Export, or press Ctrl+E). You can export it directly to your saves directory, or export it somewhere else and then move the directory to your saves directory. Then it should show up in Minecraft under Singleplayer.
1. New/different falloffs. Specifically, I'd like to see inverted versions of the current ones, so you could, say, create a ring of mountains around a low point if you wanted.
2. A layer or terrain option that changes the terrain to fit the biome. If I want a map with both grassy and desert environments, it's rather difficult to get them to line up with the biomes so you get the correct rainfall. Having WorldPainter do this automatically would really help me out with some of my ideas.

Sigcard is delayed
You export it. This information is in the FAQ.

Wow, that's extremely impressive! Nice work. And it's great to see my program being used exactly what I intended it for. :smile.gif:
It was raining when I entered the map, so it was a nicely atmospheric entry. But I was quickly killed by two skeletons... :wink.gif:

Why, what's wrong with the import?

Thanks, and this seems really neat.
