I haven't used WorldPainter in quite a while. When I was using it early this year, my intention was to use it to create voxel terrain for a non-Minecraft project. I wanted to use the image of the map, without shadows, as a color map for the voxels, but couldn't due to the inability to turn off the shadows to export just the colour.
I've just discovered that the shadows can be turned off by cycling the light direction until the "off" setting is selected. This makes me very happy. Far too late for what I needed early this year, but I'm still really happy to have this function now!

Hi, I can't seem to be able to get modded blocks (i do have extended block ids on) it wont go past 4095 blocks? I'm trying to add basalt into the pack but its block id is 5925 or 4558. Is there a solution?
Website says it's not a virus. It sets off EVERY AV I HAVE. Sets off Avast, sets off McAfee, sets of Chrome Download Block. Could someone please explain why this is.
So I tried overlaying an image to work with for a build I'm going to be doing that requires a custom generated world, but it's far too big for me to properly work with, with the image being about 16 times larger than the scale I need it to be.
I can't seem to find an option to delete the image so that I can overlay a smaller version of the picture. All it allows me to do is toggle whether the image appears or not, which isn't very helpful for me.
Would someone be able to tell me how to reset the overlay?
@Captian_Chaos So i tried opening the website for the worldpainter.net but its not loading. I tried everything to get onto it but its not working. I tried looking everywhere i can to find out whats happening but this is the only place i have seen anyone even mention the same problem. Can you please address this problem. others have mentioned it but have been ignored up to now.

I'd do it, but I've yet to handle Java that didn't come in a coffee cup. I'm willing to host the binaries on my own server or a public cloud service until OP gets theirs back up.

Old post, waking the dead, yada yada I know, but pro tip: don't stack AV's, they'll fight each other and dog your machine. Just use MBAM instead, way more efficient.

Until the site is back up, feel free to use this download: [removed due to creator's return] Of course, since it is not the official download, it is wise to be skeptical, so make sure to scan it with your antivirus. Yes, I uploaded it myself, but I'm not expecting you to just take my word for it being safe.
CaptainChaos, if the site is gonna go back up, feel free to notify me and I'll remove this post.
The file is digitally signed by pepsoft.org on 02/05/2017 and did not trigger MBAM, so I'm seconding the legitimacy of this.
Edit: aw crap. Looks like it needs to download libraries or something. ZIP up your install folder contents maybe, try something out?
Second edit: Just click cancel when it complains about internet connection, it works.
I hope not, but see the top of this page for a quoted link to a cloud hosted 64-bit installer. If that goes down, someone let me know and I can put it up somewhere too, in C_C's absence.

Hello everyone. I'm back, and so is the WorldPainter site!
My apologies for dropping out for so long. I've been renovating my house, and ironically that took longer, and took more of my time, than the long holiday which I had warned everybody of... And then my provider had a huge crash, and completely trashed the VPS that was running WorldPainter, destroying the site, and years of stats and other precious data.
I got the site back up on a new VPS (at a different provider). You can download WorldPainter again, and it should no longer give long pauses or errors when it is checking for updates at start up. Let me know if you still encounter problems! Some of the site is still missing, most notably the wiki. I'm trying to restore it with pages from the Internet Archive, but it could be a while before that's back...
The renovation is slowly winding down and I'll have more time for WorldPainter, so expect me to be around again from now on.
Sadly I don't have the time to go back and read all the messages from since I've been away. If you still have a problem or suggestion you would like me to look at, feel free to post it again! Sorry about that...
Once again my apologies for dropping off the radar, but I'm back again! Have a great New Year's Eve, and here's to a great 2018 for WorldPainter. I have big plans.
To all who posted download links for WorldPainter during the site outage: thank you very much! I really appreciate you guys helping each other out!
Having said that, now that the site is back up, I would like to respectfully request that you delete the downloads and edit your posts and take the links down. I'd like to try and avoid a proliferation of old versions floating around the Internet, causing confusion...

Any idea when the site will be back up?

I have the exact same issue.
Please fix the website! D:
Yeah, site's been down a few days, sadly. I wanted to try this out.
Anyone familiar with the JDK? The source code is on GitHub, and the instructions to build are available cached.
Build instructions (takes a while to load, be patient):
