I use a mac. when I open worldpaint, a box opens that is empty and on the bar at the top says Usage Statistics Permission. in the bottom right corner it says yes, like a button you can click but nothing happens when you do. the close button in the left corner doesn't work. can I get around it?
I released that downloading the latest version of java fixed this.
I have been getting an error null while trying to change the Dimension Properties default layer
Only happens on one map at the moment.

Upon further examination I have concluded that the .null error appears only when trying to change the default layer properties on .world files that have been previously exported.
From this video the first two errors were from .worlds previously exported.
The last one in which the null did not appear was the one I have never exported before.
Here's a download link to Valeros, an example affected world in the video
I believe have just found the source(s?) of this bug - it is caused after using the global operations bar. However it doesn't explain why this has happened on some .worlds I've never used global operations on - I think.
Most likely becouse of mods. Most mod packs are still in 1.5.2. So versions for older minecrafts would be nice.
I think you and/or Sarak_The_Charizard may be confusing WorldPainter versions with Minecraft versions (possibly because currently they happen to be the same, which is just a coincidence). You can create maps for Minecraft 1.5.2 perfectly fine with WorldPainter 1.6.4!
Just be sure not to use any block types, etc. which didn't exist in version 1.5.2 of Minecraft (which is easy to do, as you would have to manually configure such block types; all of the default terrain types, layers, etc. are safe).
When I try to Export it says that there needs to be more memory but i have changed the Memory to my Computer RAM minus 2. But it still shows the error. Although when i launch Minecraft and it shows my world there but when i load it it all shows chunks cut up so it has one chunk in a line then a space in between and the another and so on. How could I fix this??? Please help me as soon as possible, Thanks

The installer already sets that as the default, so that probably made no difference. It sounds like you really don't have enough memory. Try increasing the amount even more, to 1 GB less than the total RAM, or even 512 MB less. That might get it to work, although you probably won't be able to use your computer while it's exporting...

This sounds like a separate problem. I think you exported your world with an incompatible map height (something other than 256). As WorldPainter warns you when you do that, only Minecraft 1.1 supports that (and then only with mods for heights other than 128).

Newbie to mapping here - quick question..
Over the course of these 300+ pages, can anyone recall if users have had difficulty importing height map images generated from a software called Fractscape?
They look identical to all other height maps, and are most definitely in grayscale.
I can post some examples, I just wanted to get people thinking...
Thank you!
This is badly supported for mac, or atleast mountain lion 10.8.5. I cannot select anything in the program and the exit, minimize and size changing buttons don't work. Please fix it, or tell me what i am doing wrong!
This is the 4th bug I've found - I believe this relates to the custom ground layer bug I found earlier too. (This map view is from chunky)Aaaand here's another shot of another world
I've also quoted some previous bugs I've found just so it's easier to find.
I just looked at your blog, and dang, you are really good at this terrain stuff.Just curious, how can I make custom hightmaps? And how can I make my own schematics/bo2's?
Sorry, one last question right now, are there any hightmaps/custom brushes that make "thinker" mountains? All my mountain brushes make really skinny mountains.

you'll need to use a bigger brush radius for that effect.

It's usually because whenever I find the bug I try to find the source of it.
Why?

Because I would like it?..

Sorry, not a good enough reason...

If I activate "Allow Minecraft to populate the entire terrain" he adds minerals, trees, lakes and other things that do not like.
If I use the layer "Populate", when export the map, on the resources tab, active the "Resources everywere" option and establish all resources at 0%.
If I use the metod I say above, but with the checkbox "Resources everywere" disabled, I have the same result.
Even so, I always generates ores, animals and other things that do not like.
How I can not generate any kind of ore, lakes, trees, etc?. I just want to generate animals.
Thanks. Custom heightmaps? just export it as a the map as a heightmap on export settings.
As for schematics you need to build something and save it as a .schematic file using WE.
As for .BO2 you can use the BBOB program or the ruby script to convert a schem to .bo2.
you'll need to use a bigger brush radius for that effect.
