Hey!, I've been trying this program and it's very cool, good job, it took me a while to learn about how to use it
You should add the magic wand tool of photoshop, you know?, it will be very useful to do things that require a lot of pulse, like painting and replacing materials without painting things that you don't want to paint, more like a selection tool.
Also, It will be a great idea to do a bucket tool.
This is an idea but maybe add trees that are not in minecraft like add a tool that Make Giant Jungle Sized Forest Trees And Super Tall redwoods It would be cool if you added mor trees because then adventure map make who use custom terrain wouldn't have to go through the trouble of worldediting everything after exporting the world
You can already do this by using "Add custom objects from bo2 files to the world"
It is AWESOME! for some of the best bo2 files check out this website Chaos has pointed out.
Tip: when adding single trees or one of an object make your brush size pretty small and crank the density of the brush up to 10.
If you use a giant brush you will get a giant cluster of that object. I suppose that could work OK for REALLY thick forest though.
Pretty much all bo2 files should work. The only ones that won't are ones that use the "branches" feature, but I think that occurs extremely rarely, if at all. Here are some links to collections of bo2 objects: http://massivecraft.com/custom-terrain and http://www.kartwork.de/bukkit
Note that I'm not saying they will all render correctly. WorldPainter ignores almost all of the object properties, and it randomly rotates and mirrors all objects to add variety, which might not be appropriate. Let me know if you find bo2 files where this is a problem.
THICK forest with custom bo2 trees from the kartwork website. I made that forest real quick to show you an example, but ended up exploring it for a while. Its a scary place at night! LOL

I have been playing with this program extensively, creating new brushes and more. However I have two requests:
Zoom in/out in 3D view.
Map rotate in 3D view.
There are times when I would like to zoom in or out of the area to see my handiwork. A 90-degree rotation function would also be nice. Thanks for listening!

You can already rotate the view while in 3D mode. Two buttons at the top.
As for zooming while in 3D, yeah that would be nice!
"Add custom objects from bo2 files to the world" How do I get custom objects to bo2, all I can think of to save objects is world edit, and they save in schematic format :(.

Check out my post above! The second site has bunch of great bo2 files.
As for making your own, I don't know for sure yet. Looking at the bo2's from the second link, it looks like its as simple as creating a text document with your own Parameters and recipe (X,Y,Z:material) and then probably renaming it to a .bo2.

Ahhh! I thought that just rotated the map itself, since it was on the editor window. Thanks for that info. Hopefully we can see 3D zoom in the next update or so!
I'm using a Windows system computer, and when I attempt to use any tool or select a terrain type on world painter, it just freezes up. Think you can help me solve this?

Without knowing your PC specs this is just a guess but, maybe your PC is just to weak to handle it. I have a pretty good PC and have noticed WP slow down a few times.
If you want caves of whatever design you want (tunnels or isolated rooms, small or large, simple or highly branched, one level or many levels, etc.), I suggest trying the BO2 based technique that I described above in Reply #3749 in this Forum. Also, in Reply #127 in the WorldPainter - User Creations Forum, I recently posted several screenshots showing the very cool (if I say so myself) results that you can get by using several layers of BO2 objects at different depths below the ground that are linked together to form a big cave system.
Would it be possible to make brushes to generate villages?
Btw awesome work, keep it up!
You could use a bo2 brush and paint villages. You would have to create the village bo2 file and even then i am not sure how you would populate it with villagers. I suppose you could manually spawn them in game but i don't know if they would react the same way as they do in a naturally occurring village.

Also, Windows 7, opening custom brushes folder from the tools menu causes WorldPainter to crash.
There should be a button on the left side that says Biomes. Click that and the Biomes tool bar will load up.

Amazing program, though the export takes a looooong time o.o
