Hi, excuse me but is it possible to automaticaly put desert or beach biome on the sand, ocean on water etc.. ? I try the auto biome stuff but it dont work,
The auto biome stuff does work. But it can't read your mind. How is it supposed to know if you want sand to be beach biome or desert biome, for instance? It can do a lot for you, but you will have to do some work yourself, especially for such ambiguous terrain types.
You will have to do beaches yourself (although I don't know if the beach biome adds anything useful, so maybe you don't actually need it), but WorldPainter can set the plains and ocean biomes for you, and even the desert biomes if you use the desert terrain type (which has cactuses and dead shrubs) instead of sand. Just set the biome scheme to "automatic biomes" and it will ask you if you want to reinitialise the biomes. Say yes and WorldPainter will set all the biomes for you according to the defaults I posted above.
Even for the beaches you could have WorldPainter help you, but you would have to use the beach terrain type, which is a mix of grass, sand, gravel and clay. WorldPainter can automatically set all terrain around water level height to the beach terrain type, which has the beaches biome associated with it.
All in all WorldPainter can go a long way to help you, but it can't do everything for you, and never will.
Another problem, is it possible that Worldpainter read the "place on" option of the BO2 ? For example if the BO2 is a tree with the place on grass option, when i put the bo2 layer on my map, if i overflow on water or sand, it won't place the BO2 object. (Because for now it work like this)
It doesn't on purpose, because I want you to have maximum flexibility. You have full control over where you paint the layer, and maybe you want to paint it somewhere unusual. It's not that hard to paint it in with a broad brush, and then use a small, solid, maximum intensity brush to remove it from places where you don't want it.
Having said that, it does honour the spawnWater and spawnLava properties, so it won't overflow on water if that property is set correctly in the bo2 file!
Is there a way I can create a jungle in a swamp biome? I want to make a jungle that looks black and dead on my custom terrain map, but I cannot, since to create a jungle I have to allow Minecraft to populate the terrain. And for the jungle to generate, I have to make the area a jungle biome. But I want that area to be a swamp biome so the leaves and the grass is dark green to black. Is there a way I can do this?

Couldn't you just create a jungle biome then change the biome to swamp after it's generated?
So, you suggest importing the existing WorldPainter map and change the biome?
EDIT: I don't think that will work. I just tried, no luck.
You'd have to import the Minecraft map then merge it back (Merge World... | Merge only biomes) to change the biome to swampland.
You might also check that you're using Custom Biomes.
I'm sure you can do this, though it might be simpler to use something like Biome Painter - it works directly on the region files so you don't have to import and merge.

Yes, I exported the map, imported it, changed the biome to swamp, and it did not work. Populate Terrain was off. I will try Biome Painter though.

No this works. I just tested it to make sure. Two things: you say "populate terrain" was off, are you talking about the first export? Because then of course Minecraft won't actually generate the jungle. And did you open the map in Minecraft and actually let it populate between exporting it and importing it? Because otherwise of course Minecraft wouldn't even have had a chance to generate the jungle.
If you do this, it will work:
Create a new world and paint Jungle biome in the location where you want the jungle
Paint the same area with the Populate layer
Export the world
Open the map in Minecraft and let it fully generate the jungle. If it's larger than the area that is initially loaded when you open the map, be sure to move around and visit all parts of the jungle so that it all gets generated
Exit Minecraft and import the map in WorldPainter
Change the biome of the jungle area to Swampland
Merge the changes back to the map (choose the "biomes only" option)
(I think it's probably because the first wood block isn't in the middle of the BO2 first layer.)
I'm going to try.
No, there is no need for the first block to be in the middle. I think what's happening is that the first block is just too high. It should be at the origin, instead it's one block higher. Could that be it?
Don't understand, it seems that the layer paste the BO2 and dig to the dirt (I've tried to modifie all the BO2 properties, but nothing change)
I think it's rendering the trees in the wrong place, or getting the terrain altitude from the wrong place or something like that. I've fixed a bug like that before, but it seems it's back. I don't understand how that could be, but I'll look in to it.
I looked into it, and it's the model. The problem is that the trunk isn't at the origin (0, 0, 0). That's where WorldPainter measures the height to place the model at. You need to shift the tree over so that its trunk is at 0,0 (perhaps this is what you mean by it being in the middle of the layer? If so then you were right after all).
Hey i have a suggestion i think a lot of people would like its the option to change the direction of the 3d view camera, i dont know if its possible but it will help to make much better maps, because as it is right now you only make it look good from one angle, and that will made the task to make a test less frequent, i hope this really gets added into the program, anyway its a great program and i say thanks for creating it.
sorry for my bad English, it not my first language
anyone could please help me... thanks very much

i create a map and export it.. it wasn't a big map
it took me 18Hours!!!!! how could this happened!!?
#2 question
the map i export doesn/t have biomes it just hilly land i can see the different soil color but no trees no mountain....ETC
how do i fix this? what should i set when i export to make the biomes included???(i cant see the biomes also in the"3D view")
#3 i realized a option called bedrock wall
what does it actually mean i checked it
but i didn't see any wall in the game
#4 what does it mean by the "border size :xx tiles"
does it mean if i fly over this much tiles and i will see the world generate again???
#5 does the border size tiles included in the map tiles i set at beginning???
for example i set the map tiles to 23 and border size tiles to 2
is the real map like 23+2 = 25 tiles
or just 23(21+2)???
#6 i start a map using seed
there is a land area i want to make it ocean
do i just simply brush the land using "water"?
how come the color of my "brushed water" and natural ocean is different??
thanks for you awesome work..but please help me out!!! @,@
You mean like the Biomes Viewer (in the menu: Tools -> Biomes viewer...)?
You can move around by dragging with the middle or right mouse button and zoom in and out with the scroll wheel. You can even export the seed and location directly to a new Minecraft map by pressing "Play here" in the toolbar, or select tiles by left-clicking and create a new WorldPainter world from those tiles by pressing "Create world" in the toolbar.

How big was it? Calculating the lighting is very complex and intensive work, so it takes a long time. If you're doing a test export you can export a smaller piece of the map, just the part you want to test, which may go a lot quicker.

If you want Minecraft to generate vegetation according to the biomes, check the "allow Minecraft to populate the entire terrain" option on the Export screen. Or if you only want it do it in some places, use the Populate layer in those places.

No. That makes the terrain out of water, which is very rarely useful. You could try using it for creating rivers or creeks.
To make oceans or lakes you use the Height tool to lower the land to below the water level, or you use the Flood tool to flood an area of land that is enclosed by higher land, or to raise the level of an existing body of water.

Impressive looking map, by the way.

Let Minecraft populate, use Pheonix Terrain Mod, set the custom biome? I wish I had time to test this and see if I can make it work.

Yes (although there is a bug in it), but since in this case there is a foundation it can't have anything to do with your problem.

No, that's not possible. The bo2 file is only read when the layer is created; the actual data is stored in the .world file.

When the 3D window has focus, press L or R to rotate the view left or right.
I'd really like to be able to zoom the view too.
