I was looking around for a quality world sharing website where I could check out other people's creations. I found a few out there but I wasn't really impressed. I felt like I was randomly downloading files hoping to find something good. Dissatisfied with what was out there, I decided to create my own website that not only solved the problem of sharing minecraft worlds, but also generated high quality maps of those worlds for previewing prior to downloading and to share with friends.
After a long week of barely seeing the light of day, I had the site ready for beta testing. After a few weeks of beta testing with some great people, I was ready to launch the site with a public beta.
We are NOW LIVE!!
Features:
Upload your minecraft worlds to share with your friends and the rest of the Minecraft community
A Google maps style interface will automatically be generated in Day, Night and Cave mode for all uploaded worlds
No limit on the number of maps you upload
Upload a screenshot and crop to your liking at time of upload
Each world receives it's own unique URL to make sharing easy
Automatically pulls seed from the level.dat file and displays that with your world
Spawn location is determined from level.dat and a compass icon is displayed to highlight this location
Full featured commenting system (using BBCode) to provide feedback on other maps
add tags to your worlds either during the upload process or on the edit screen for the world
tags for the world are displayed when viewing a world. You can then click on those tags to see other worlds that are tagged the same
you can also sort the tagged worlds by size/date/downloads/etc
receive email notifications (if desired) when your world is finished rendering and also when comments are posted to your world
subscribe to other peoples worlds and receive updates when a new map is rendered or when comments are posted
ability to restrict downloading of your world file
Overhauled the design of the website. Now creeper friendly!
Added in-game coordinates to the maps so you can use the map to navigate better
Fullscreen view added new
Special Thanks
A special thanks goes out to the overviewer project. This site wouldn't be possible without them.
We used to use Tectonicus for rendering. You can check them out here:Tectonicus
Does this just create images of your worlds or can you also upload the world files as well?
(That would be even more awesome, a world sharing website WITH preview images *awesomeface*)

Actually you have to upload the world file for the Google Maps style preview to be generated. :smile.gif: This allows you to share the world files with your friends and others while providing the preview.

Wait... so people can view the image (preview) of the world they uploaded AND others can download that world as well?
That's the idea. A world sharing / map generation website that allows more of a preview before downloading. I really like the idea of checking out other peoples creations but it's hard to tell how cool a world really is without the preview.
Yea, I'll help on this. I can provide daily updates to the map I'd be uploading ^^
This is an interesting point. Currently the beta does not allow for updates to the maps although this is something that I have on this list. So, I guess my question is:
When you upload a new copy of a map should it overwrite the previous version or would it be worthwhile to retain each version that is uploaded?
It may not make sense from a space requirement standpoint to keep all versions of a map as that could get out of hand quickly...
Updated to 1.10.2! Come check out the brand new design!

*EDIT* NVM... my lack of understanding on the PMs made me think they weren't going through...
