Minecraft Random Goal Generator is a program I have been developing for quite some time now. It is a program that will randomly select nouns, adjectives, materials, locations, and more; to create a random goal. This program is very helpful if you have become bored in minecraft and need something to do. Due to the random nature of this program, many of the goals will cause you to LoL. This program was originally made with Java (v1.6 and lower), but is now made with Visual Basic (v1.7 and higher).

The goals seem fairly straight forward, I think the goals I was looking for were building goals. Here's a list of objects or structures or ideas that could be in the noun function, I admit just pulling a list of nouns is a bit too generic...who wants to make a visual representation of "tax" in obsidian anyway?
For our shoutcast/livecast we were looking for building goals, collection goals are secondary if there is a way to split the interface up, perhaps two dialogue boxes, one is "collection goal", the other: "construction goal".
I guess gathering and constructing go hand in hand but it could provide a good medium for keeping people busy and trying to keep things interesting for any viewers...

I love this idea! Total quest mode! I'll probably wait till it's executable or in the game; but kudos to you. You were inspired by that other thread, yes?
PS. I too think the tree is beautiful.

Bad design on the mug led to water and magma occasionally forming blockages. A catwalk allows access to fix these, in a recent cleaning attempt two legendary miners slipped on water on the catwalk and fell to their deaths in the obsidian mold.

I can create a different version where the goal types are seperated.
I'll add those to the program soon.

LOGIC BE DUH EXPLOIT OF LIFE!!! U MUST DO AS ME SAYZ!!
Add some adjectives and verbs! Verbs could be anything, like 'burn' 'mine' 'drown' etc, and adjectives could give some extra direction to the nouns. I'm thinking dwarf fortress style naming.
"Make a hateful sheep from cobblestone" would force players to use some sort of creativity!

if by other thread you mean Diamond_Pickaxe's thread, then yes, you are correct.
In fact, once I update this program, it'll be the official goal generator program for that thrad XD
I do need to figure out how to make it executable though...
And by executable you mean like how the Minecraft launcher works?(Double click an icon)

So many good ideas, for future references and additions, to make it easy on the pro above helping with scripting, provide a list and number for easier coding. For example, if you have the idea for an addition (adjectives/verbs), provide info looking like this and hopefully it helps out:
Adjectives(10):
Angry-looking
Bare
Long
Tall
Sturdy
Sharp
Ancient
Plain
Proud
Flat
Keep in mind we don't want this to get too complicated with too many variables; however, if the output seems silly or stupid, or impossible, there can always be the option to reroll.
*EDIT*
Was trying but couldn't for the life of me find the "1000 things to build in minecraft" or a similar list on any thread (maybe I suck at searching); I'm pretty sure there would be an invaluable amount of objects to build to be gleaned from that...will keep searching, if someone finds one or something that would do as a list, link please.

Yea that method of organization is very helpful.
I've just finished adding the materials form your previous post. Working on structures now

Trying my best to come up with a list of 25-50+ structure ideas to build but off the top of my head I'm running blanks, looking for inspiration....Will add to the topmost post for your convenience, updating the numbers accordingly.
Why not make it a web app? You can script it, and then add to it as you like. No one has to download anything :smile.gif:
EDIT: In fact, you can set it up so that users can submit new ideas as well.. so you can crowd-source the database.
Ideal use, especially if it can be coded into an app you can use in these forums; though the downside is that it needs internet access (though that's not a huge deal anymore).
Someone who knows web scripting could take care of that side, I like the idea of another app that I can put on my desktop as well.

I don't know how to embed this into a website, but that is a VERY good idea...

I might be able to create a web version of your finished product. If it's as popular as I think it could be, we might be able to get special permission to embed it in a post?
My only problem is time. I don't have much of it lately haha :smile.gif:
