Hey, I'm trying to use your program to revert from 1.8.1 back to 1.7.3. I have run the configuration, placed the 1.7.3 files and checksum into the bin, and ran the .exe again. I received an error when I did this.

The only thing I have changed from regular minecraft 1.8.1 is a texture pack, which I doubt would interfere with this process. Thanks a ton.
Forgot to mention that I am running Windows 7. It seems that a few other people are having this issue as well.
It seems as a checksum error joe.Are you using the latest checksums

Yes, even texture packs interfere. If they're installed manually, or if you used a patcher.
Okay, I'm back on my own computer, which uses a decidedly non-retarded operating system (WinXP). I successfully did the Configurator thing, but I was confused by this bit:
Choose a version in the patches and copy all the ptch files as well as the checksum file into the bin folder where you extracted MCNostalgia to.
"Bin folder"? This is the first I'm hearing of any "bin folder". How does a bin folder differ from a regular folder? Are you talking about a .bin file? I have no idea how to make those.
You see, at some point, you should mention "when you extract MCNostalgia, a folder titled 'bin' will be created in the same place. This is the folder into which you extract the patch files. Do not extract the patch folder, just the files within it. The pathname should look like this: c:\blahblahblah\mcnostalgia\bin\(various filenames)"

I'm going to just ignore this part. I could say something about hating change, but I won't.

It is common to call a folder like that. If I had a folder called "misc" I would call it the misc folder, as would many others. Learn how titles work, please.

I'm at a loss as to why you're complaining, you clearly realized what the instructions are referring to, so I fail to see why you are complaining about understanding where or what it is. The only reason for complaint I really see here is that you had a derp moment, but we all have those.
As a layman I've had no luck determining whether or not patch files constitute derivative work in my (United States) jurisdiction. I believe they do. But it sounds like Mojang isn't interested in pursuing the issue, so I guess that's as good as it actually being legally sound anyway.
I'm going to just ignore this part. I could say something about hating change, but I won't.
What I hate are crappy worthless operating systems that don't work as intended. If I hated change, I'd still be using Windows 3.1

"misc" isn't a file extension. Your comparison fails.

It took me about a half-hour and a lot of trial and error, all of which could have been very easily avoided if the instructions had been written a bit more clearly.
Regardless, the program itself is working beautifully now, and I shall forever worship the ground you walk on for making this :biggrin.gif:

Cyborg, I think I love you. I was playing Beta 1.1_02 and some music started playing. I zoned out and remembered the first time I played Minecraft in 1.1_02. A single tear rolled down my face. I salute you, good sir.

No, the original leak and the public leak are both the second version. The first is the more buggy version with the glitchy models and villages missing houses. I have not included it and will not include it any release, as it was not leaked.
Just found this video
Is that the glitchy models version you are talking about?
Notch's copyright covers EVERYTHING inside the Jar files too
The reason he(notch) said this was because he didn't want people getting minecraft him not knowing.I don't think he would care about this because it is not actually redistributing minecraft just changing the jar, making it a mod.
For some reason after successfully installing the patches and playing the game, no sound comes from minecraft.(And yes i did make sure sound was turned on in minecraft and on my computer)
Hey i am trying to use your program, i downloaded it and it gives me error that patch files are not in the bin folder... but they are, i extracted them from the download file to that location. i don't know what to do

Dude, check the dates on posts you're replying to, derp. It's September 2011, that post was from December 2010.

Are you for real?
:laugh.gif:
My operating system is Windows XP and my computer model is a Dell Latitude D630 (I doubt computer model would matter, but just telling you anyway.)
Unfortunately I haven't a clue what would cause this. You did extract everything, right? Including msvcr90.dll?
You're welcome.
Unfortunately I don't have 1.0.11 :sad.gif:
I hope you'll get it sometime. Somehow.
Also, when I tried Alpha 1.2.0, I got Alpha 1.2.0_02 instead.

Other than chickens and updated cows, and some minecart stuff, 1.0.11 isn't that much different from 1.0.14

Yes.

Wrong, slimes were added in 1.0.11. And they were buggy and way too many. I miss those days, trying to survive in my mineshaft. Fighting for my life.
Logs would help.
