I won't be able to put any time into AM for the next few weeks as I am visiting my parents. Perhaps by mid June I will have the static map fixed up. Hard to say.
I'm having a lot of trouble with this. It's not even with crashing the game or anything. The thing won't install period. Everytime I click the .EXE it doesn't run at all, and instead says Minecraft AM has stopped working. I made sure I had a fresh minecraft.jar, made sure I had the framework, pretty much followed the instructions to a T and I can't get it to work.

There are two frameworks, XNA and .NET, both version 4. Are both installed?

I am getting the same problem. instead once I load up AM while MC is running and just started moving, the game crashes with no crash dump or log
Hmm. Sorry for the huge delay in responding. Do you have any other mods installed (besides ModLoader itself)?

Hello again.
I repoted the AM crashing my minecraft without an active static map a little earlier.
Now I run for hours without a single crash (before it crashed after 10 minutes at latest) and the only option I changed was: The render distance in Minecraft.
I read, that playing with "far" caused troubles on a lot of machines, even high end ones, so I thought it might be it.
Seems like I was right.
So... sorry, to bother you with my former posts, thanks for this wonderful mod and I'm looking forward to future versions.
Try lowering the realtime map max width if it gives you any more trouble. That is the only setting I've ever seen cause a crash (if it was too high). That is why there is a hard limit of 252 on it. 200 might be more stable.

Suggestion: Allow Players & Mod Creators to make
Customs Mod Map Icon Packs for allowing Auto map to show MODS Ores And Items Correctly
It an be done a number of ways to allow more than one mod to co-exist
Custom/*mod name* Folder
one way it to Name PNG files as there BLOCKID#
Another way is to
Add mod-icons-list-*modname*.ini
# Formatting
# BLOCK-ID=image.png
20=glass.png
This ways allow users to modify the blockid if the were using other mods
Hmm. Interesting idea. However, I do not think enough people would use such a feature to make it worth my time. Am I wrong?
My to-do list currently has a handful of minor tweaks and bugfixes, some mineral detection improvements, and a static map overhaul to make it stop crashing. All these things take higher priority. That said, I did put this on my to-do list.

This error is Microsoft's WriteableBitmap code acting up again. That is what AM currently uses to create the static map image. I have plans to scrap it and use a different approach for building the static world map. Until then, you can disable the static map in the options. (or turn off static map streaming when it is starting to grow very large)

So until a fix comes out i cant update the static map at all and only use this as a mini map over top of minecraft?
Hi all. I haven't been on the forum lately, and I see that Notch has updated Minecraft again. I want to do an AM update this weekend, but it will only happen if Notch releases a bugfix patch today (which seems doubtful). From what I have read on the wiki, Minecraft is hardly suitable to play at the moment.

You are correct that you won't be able to update the static map at all, but I do not know why you would be limited to using it as a minimap over the top of minecraft.
I dont know why, but this tend to crash all the time!
I start it up and it crashes like 30 seconds later. Also it is very memory extensive.
I am running it on 1.5_01 clean install no ModLoader
This is the error I get
Yup, that is the static map. Turn it off in the options (or at least turn off static map updating). A fix is planned but I cannot begin to guess when it will be done.
I hope you gonna update this weekend. Need this! Also would be nice if you´d spend some more time on new features, error reduction and stuff. I dont want to bother you in your private life, but i think we all need an update :>
You're being really rude. You don't "need" a mod from a video game so much so as to suggest how the author spends his/her time. I love this mod as well - it's great for underground planning and so on, but I don't have some divine right to say "ya know I'm getting impatient, update prz" - much less the authority to speak for the rest of the Minecraft community.
If you feel I'm in error, I'll tell you that I really "need" you to either get a job or take some $ from your current job and donate it to the authors so maybe they can worry about one less real life thing and have more stress free time to work on Automap.
Just...read what you wrote and pretend you were the authors of Automap. The self-centered entitlement level almost defies belief.
Hey BP - This looks different than the OOM what a surprise (!) error, but it looks similar to the error Kao_Deagon posted on May 16th. Got it using MC 1.5x and most current AM. Not sure if it will be helpful to you going forward on 1.6.x (looks like 1.6.6 next week will be a more "stable" patch.) I don't know *^& about coding, but "something's too wide" is my awesome layperson's analysis :smile.gif:

Hi all. It looks like Notch has finished updating Minecraft for now, so it should be safe to build a new version of AM. I will try and do that tonight.

now for the automap to join in...
...although notch says he's going to update some bed bugs next week.
hurm.

um...a lot HAS changed. *points to 75-odd bugfixes for 1.6 alone*
modloader updated, and works fine. I try using automap, and IT crashes minecraft to smeg and gone, or at least the things it adds to the .jar file
if you want I can come back with an errorlog, but minecraft is just blackscreening on me.
