By 'Real-Time', you do mean that it updates itself as I destroy / add blocks in my game, right? If so, then mine isn't updating as its supposed to. I have to close it and open it up again to see any changes going on.
Not quite. However, if you open it up, then go exploring, previously blank areas will appear on your map if you scroll. But already mapped areas are cached for speed.
But you've given me some ideas. I know I can get file change notifications on OSX through FSEvents and on Linux through inotify, don't know about windows though.. have to do some research.

Hey, I really like this program, however I'm unable to get the tooltips to appear for more than an instant, since I'm using a trackpad on a Macbook. Other than trying a two-finger hold, is there another key combo/action to get them to appear? Thanks!
mrkite77, you are now my new GOD OF MINECRAFT. This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Also, this is one of the only programs I have successfully built from source without any troubles! (Ubuntu 10.04.)
Now, if only you could hook it up to a server :smile.gif:

No.. but the plan is eventually to have them appear in a statusbar on hover. I guess on a mac you could try control-clicking...

Control-clicking didn't work either, but that's okay. I'll just wait for the statusbar :smile.gif:
I really love this program, thanks so much for making it! I look forward to the future of it.
I'd like to suggest page wide crosshairs. Something that is toggle able, and stretches across the entire screen in both directions. It would make lining yourself up to reach that far away node much easier.

I actually tossed around the idea of a Telestrator-style overlay that you could draw on, it would pan and zoom along with your map, so you could, for example, mark your base and then when you went down a few layer you could still see your markings.
I should probably clarify. I meant ones you could toggle that would attach to the mouse cursor, and move it around :smile.gif: Stationary ones would be cool too though.
Is there any way to run this off of a flash drive, without installation?
Yeah. Just grab the .zip version instead of the .msi... but it does require VC2010 runtime to be installed on the machine.
The next version (the one currently in mercurial if anyone wants to compile it for themselves) has a completely redone windows version, it no longer uses .Net and is now a single .exe... I believe (haven't tested it yet) that it
now fully statically compiles, so it has no dependencies at all, no VC runtime, no .Net, nothing. Sigh of relief.
I've got to add the new interface features to Linux and OSX, then I'll push out a new version.. and I'll finally be to the point where I can add the cool optional map features like the Cave mode that Scaevolus made.

Here's how to do it on Windows:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365465(VS.85).aspx
Here's some Python code using that interface that may be useful as an example: http://timgolden.me.uk/python/win32_how_do_i/watch_directory_for_changes.html.
It does not, unfortunately. :sad.gif:

flyingislands.net
yes i have installed the Visual C++ Redistributable..

Do you have .NET installed? It requires 3.5, so you'll need .NET 3.5 or 4.0 installed on Windows.

Installed the .net and now i get this.

I'll keep it on my "possible improvement" list...
Sleekcraft! Check it out!
It is a simple read-only program. It just views the map, and does not change anything.

I don't have windows here, but my bet is yes. Have you even tried it?
