One of my tests only had the filters that MC Edit came with and none of the ones I would like to use, but still no luck with the menu. I also run MC Edit in maximized windowed mode so I should have plenty of space for everything.
same problem here. i am using a mac, if it is any help.
I installed all of sethblings filters into my mcedit. Now when i go to click on filters the list it invisible. I think this is because of too many filters, but i dont want to keep installing and uninstalling filters. Does anyone have another solution to this problem
It seems, nominally, possible to use this tool to cause the world to be regenerated so that, when for example I add a new mod such as forestry (that adds new ore types) I can get Minecraft to regenerate resources on my existing world so I don't have to start over.
1. Is it possible to get MCEdit to 'autoselect' the parts of the world I have actually built stuff on - I have construction that is km apart and it doesnt seem possible to 'sanely' do a selection on both sites so I can safely do a prune.
2. The "regen" option on the other hand claims to regenerate structures and ores. Which nominally would seem to do the right thing - I could apply this to my entire world and smooth stone (presumably) would transform into the new ores. My worry is about "structures" such as Villages - I have sculpted the nearby village a lot - would a "regen" alter/reset the village in some way? What are the negatives to performing a regen if I want an existing world to regenerate new things after an update?
3. When using a tool like MultiMC (or FTB) they implement a manager that manages multiple minecraft instances - stored in a 'local' subfolder rather than in the AppData folder. MCEdit *only* looks for maps (and minecraft files) in AppData/.minecraft - when I *need* it to look in ./Games/MultiMC/instances/Vanilla147/minecraft for the correct files. At the moment I need to copy all my files backwards and forwards to test any changes. Is there an config file that can override the normal path logic?
I don't know if the authors read this thread but - some features that would help my 'intended' usage out:
1. The ability to auto select all chunks that contain (or are within a specific radius of) a specific block id. Many blocks don't occur in the wild - I could mark the active area of my world with (e.g.) signs and then use that to prune / regen all chunks away from my construction.
2. An X-Ray mode that does not render the immediately visible polygons, allowing underground structure to be visualized.
3. Keybinds that map to the ingame controls. I get really confused with MCEdit as up is down compared to my usual default (And the mouse selects rather than points).
I finally found the right-button thing. Thanks
I don't know how people actually do first order editing in this thing tho - I find it amazingly hard to figure out where my selection intersects with the ground.
I am unsure if the filter is processing or if something untoward happened.
I am trying to create veins of ore and get this in my console:
Creating options for <module 'VeinCreator' from 'C:\Users\Nick\Desktop\MineCraf
t Related\MCEdit\MCEdit_dev-0.1.7build440.win-amd64\filters\VeinCreator.pyo'>
Number of Blocks: 815603.0
Total to be Replaced: 65248.0
Attempting to replace 65248.0 blocks.
Switching to an index based algorithm
Index Size Remaining: 815603
Placed 0 blocks.
I have 8x8 chunks selected and the console has been sitting like this for about an hour.
Is there no way to allow a callback from a filter that updates the UI or console with current progress? Like whenever a chunk is complete the filter could throw an update event or something?
Oh SNAP, it just finished!
I see the filter did send updates but I never saw them in the console.
Just wanted to say thanks to the creator. It was a bit confusing to use at first, but i figured out how to generate a flatlands world........this is by far the best solution for importing schematics.
You can try it with single player commands and or worldedit (even with safe edit mod) for bukkit however, doing so often times just creates problems, crashes, freezes based on the size of the schematic. McEdit really handles loading and placing of schematics extreamly well bar none, I wanted to create a "museum" world for my private server to showcase some of the cooler builds out there others have made (and for my friend who is new to minecraft) and trying to load/add schmeatics using bukkit's worldedit would often take up memory cause errors, crashes, so tried it "offline" with single player commands. same issue. downloaded McEdit created a flat world with several chunks. then went to work on loading and placing several schematics (some quite big...like stormwind) and it was really easy to use and save! Now all i have to do is upload it to the server and add portals and it will be ready!
For anyone who has major frustration with schematic importing the best tool to use is this one bar none thanks!
Whenever i download mcedit and open a world, on ANY of my computers, it loads textures buggy and when i move it is completely black..... it flashes with the blocks and it is SOOO annoying! i cant do anything! HELP! Its Like a Strobe light except with black and then minecraft blocks appearing!
I think i messed up something... i tried editing my world by copying my old base and some surrounding aread to a new world... when i loaded the world, all the trees had turned into redpower computer parts, my qurries vanished and all my tubing turned into i dont even know what... and all thaumcraft trees turned into a mix of mushroom and iron bars.

What should I do to type Chinese?
