If you use MCEdit fullscreen you can't see the console. Plus, you can minimize the console to the task bar. If it's annoying you there then you could always hide the taskbar.
Thanks, but I use the taskbar, and I switch back and fourth between Minecraft, InvEdit, NBTEdit, and MCEdit as I'm working on my maps.
Stuff you minimize pops back up as your switch programs. Every day is slightly siffrent, but there are days that are harder to focus than others, and it just helps to be super organized and have the minimum amount of stuff open that I need.
So let me know if you have a real solution. But I posted here so a DEV might see it - also someone many know of a 3rd party app to hide windows...
Ha, 5 seconds later I found something that will work for now.
I don't know how much of this you know so please forgive me if I state the obvious, or you already know it.
#1. I believe that you have to download worlds from a server first before they can be loaded into MCEdit. Really not sure about this as I don't play on servers but I have read that. There is a program called World Downloader (I think) that can do it for you. Search the tools section of this site.
#2. Wow that monitor is really tiny. I know some people have had size problems with some filters but never read of anyone with the same problem for MCEdit. Resizing works fine for me (on Windows) so I don't know what to say. Can you resize MCEdit and then somehow refresh the screen? Or can you post a pic of what it looks like so I/we can get a better idea of what it looks like?
Sorry I can't be more helpful but maybe it's time for a bigger monitor.
1: I am the server operator, so I have the world on my system.
2: That's the laptop's monitor. Kinda hard to replace. I can go to a higher DPI, but at 1440x900 I cannot see anything.
I keep the monitor at 72 DPI because of my eyesight.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
I have a filter where it is supposed to be a Text Field, where I could write custom named and lore to items. In the video showing off the filter you can see a Text field, and you can write text in it of course. However, when I try to use the filter I do not get a Text box. I get a button (drop down list kindof) where it just says "strVal". Is this something that MCEdit does or is it the filter? I run the latest development version from github (0.1.6build366).
This... is honestly a really stupid question, but I cannot download MCedit 1.6. I do not see a link that lets you download it on mcedit, net, and I have tried to download it from github several times, but the folder that I get has no executables in it what so ever, which I did have for 1.5. Could someone please tell me what the hell I am doing wrong, or provide a link to mcedit 1.6 that I can download?
And now I feel stupid, but I have found what I needed. Please ignore this post
What Shawn just said is correct. All blocks should be fine. The newer blocks, or modded blocks, may not appear correctly in MCEdit until it updates, but they will cross over with the ID's remaining the same. I too don't use Spout but I do use ExtraBiomesXL, RP2, CustomStuff, Trees++ and countless other mods and they all work well, without any major world problems.
How does this work? I'm new to MCEdit. I just installed it, loaded a backup of my world, made a test change, and saved. Every non-vanilla block was either deleted, or replaced with random vanilla replacements. i.e., Thaumcraft's silverwood trees turned into giant mushroom stalks with iron bars for leaves. Interesting, but not the desired effect ...
Version 0.1.6 was just released. See the website for info and downloads.
Also for those interested, build 373 has the beginning of the 4096 block ID support.
Aha! Mystery solved. I spoke too soon. Alas, Red Power 2's microblocks confuse it, so MCedit is of no use on my worlds. I'll keep an eye out for updates.
I've searched and searched but i just can't figure out how to save the changes in MCedit. I just want to move my player, and I've done it over and over. MCedit shows to player as being moved when i quit and reload it, but Minecraft itself isn't refelcting the change. When I look in my ~/Documents/MCedit-schematics/ folder there isn't anything there that doesn't look stock to me (Chests/, CreativeinaBox, and Mobs in Jars/)
can someone PLEASE explain how i just move a player and save the thing so it actually works in mine craft?
THANKS
Will
When you move a player in MCEdit you are actually editing the level.dat of your world (or the players/playername.dat of SMP). You will not see a new folder or file in Documents/MCEdit-schematics because it's not making anything new.
To test whether you've changed YOUR player location and not simply moved your respawn point or the world spawn, click the Goto Player -> and select your name from the list, if you're editing a multiplayer map with a folder full of player names. If your move failed, you'll be back at your original location. If the move worked, you should see a Steve head icon (player entity icon) in the desired location.
When you make any change to the world, whether a block change or an entity change (moving a player), you need to save the world.
If the Move Player button lists two players (like mine) have you tried moving both?
this was the issue, Thank you!
Actually, the developer, CodeWarrior, replied to me by email very quickly and helped me figure this out. There were three players listed, and for some reason the item corresponding to my actual player wasn't the one with my username, but only "player."
PS yes i am on a Mac

MCEdit 1.6 / 1.7build374 doesn't support "unstitched" texture packs from Minecraft versions 13w02b and onward.
Yes, this is a priority for 0.1.7. I've already started by telling MCEdit what the blocks' internal names are, which Minecraft uses to find each block's texture file.
I get too many values to unpack when I try to load my world. Is there any fix to this.
Are you selecting a level.dat? Any clues that might make your problem less difficult to diagnose?
This one showed up in the error reporter so I was able to fix it without too much trouble. It's a bug in the repair regions function caused by when I changed the region file to decompress chunks itself instead of returning a compression byte along with the data.
