I used the Softonic installer for MCedit- mcedit doesn't show any blocks, and when I try to import .schematic files, It goes through all of the loading blocks things. I save, and when I open my world, nothing is different. Then I downloaded the zip, extracted it, and it sort-of worked, but it was really weird:
The icon isn't the mcedit icon- it's the windows "Application" icon, but I don't know if that's a big deal. The title screen is different, but not much, which was kind of weird, but when I loaded the world, the blocks were kind of messed up; they were invisible on some sides. When I changed demensions (I was in the nether when I started), It didn't show any blocks once again, but this time said "Block non-existant" or something like that. I closed MCedit, and I wasn't able to open it again. It showed the small loading box, but then exited almost immediately. Then I noticed it was called "MCEdit 0.1.1.win32" I'm running 64-bit windows. Is that the problem? Am I doing something (extremely) wrong? Please post.
I just wanted to thank the other intel graphics users for asking why their MCedit crashed over and over and over and.... Anyways, sooner or later it will annoy someone so much that they fix it just to stop the constant questions about it.
I truly wish I knew how to program in python, I would love to be able to help out and fix it myself and I am amazingly grateful to everyone who has and is working on it. Just... please... if there is a choice between working on some other aspect of MCedit or fixing this, please fix it. I know it is small payment but I am making a fairly epic no rules survival / adventure map and I will personally build a statue of you stretching from ground level to skybox in the middle of a giant ruined temple and make you the vengeful and angry god of my minecraftian world if you just fix things for us long suffering intel users.
This has been mentioned before, but here goes:
TkTech cannot fix the Intel Graphics problem without a machine that has Intel Graphics.
But the version that works with Intel Graphics works fine for me, and has never crashed.
Until someone donates an Intel based machine, or somebody with one finds and fixes the problem, you (and me and the other few people to lazy to buy a proper graphics card) can keep using the Intel compatable version.
Ok... so I have read about the last 25 pages without finding reference to this:
Was running MC 1.3.1 on WinXP_SP3 (32bit) / GeForce FX Go5200 (ForceWare 175.19) ...
had no problem placing player in new location using MCEdit 0.1.1 win32.
A wild MC 1.3.2 update appears!!
Now it's impossible to place the player in a new location with MCEdit. Tried using the new v 0.1.2, but still the player refuses to be saved where placed in MCEdit.
(N.B. - MCEdit appears to work fine, and throws no exceptions or errors when moving player and saving... however, nothing is actually saved - the player remains where it originally was when the game is re-started.
(YES, I have closed MC down completely before editing ))
I don't know what this Softonic installer is but if you have a 64-bit Windows you would be far better off with the latest 64-bit MCEdit build that is linked in the first post on this very page. The one by 'ferret99gt'.
Try that one and see how you get on.
I can't find the 64-bit MCEdit--I looked in "MCEdit Downloads", and only found downloads for Mac and Windows 32-bit. I am running 32-bit java on 64-bit windows, so I still wonder which one I should use. Where do I find 64-bit MCEdit?
Hello, I thried to use MCEdit, and downloaded the 0.1.1 version for win..
But when I opend the MCEdit it first worked, but when I tried to copy
any selections, it just closed the program...
Is there anything I can do about it to make it work?
Yes, read the previous page. Many of the comments on it are discussing this problem and mentioning the solution(s).
EDIT: in fact, I'll be continuing that discussion.

Actually, TkTech has shed some new light on the issue about five pages ago:
This version does nothing for the intel cards. There are several dozen locations where MCEdit makes just outright wrong OpenGL calls, which must be corrected. The difference is that most other cards are a bit more forgiving. Jakob, a GPU driver developer at VMWare took a look at it and pointed out fixes which will hopefully make there way in soon.
So it's not an Intel-specific issue, it's just that Intel isn't as forgiving as TkTech's graphics card (and most our cards). Obviously, having an Intel card to work with would help, but the issue is in following OpenGL specification. Thankfully, there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Intel users.
What you clicked on was just the icon for the program. You need mcedit.exe to run the program.
It appears that you have downloaded the source code as I don't see an mcedit.exe in that zip. I've never actually tried that particular option before. That is the wrong zip/link to download. You need to click the one called 'MCEdit-0.1.1.win32.zip' to get the latest available version and that one will include mcedit.exe. Also keep an eye out for a new Windows 1.1.2 version on that same Github page as there should be a new release for Windows soon.
Okay, quick stupid question which I suppose I could probably go figure out myself, but is the rotation data for a dispenser stored when mcedit copies and pastes it to a new location?
I only ask because I assumed it was when I used worldedit in game and I was rather put out to discover I needed to manually adjust the positioning of 126 dispensers in order for my machine to work properly.
Oops, nearly missed your question.
This may seem like a silly suggestion, as you have moved the player before, but it's something I will admit to doing myself on one or two ocassions. But are you actually moving the player or the player spawn point? Sometimes I have got them mixed up.
Does it save other changes or is it just the player?
Not the spawn point, actually moving the player. Not mixed up.
Hello I seem to be having a rather nasty bug with the system. I'm running stable 32 and minecraft 1.3.2 and everytime I select a filter or brush or the fill tool the program will crash. I can't tell you what brought it on, it might be because of all of the chunks I've been generating in the system, which is the only change I made. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how I missed that post by TkTech.
I suppose I now lose the right to chastise people for not reading previous pages and the like?
I figured as much but it was worth a shot. I can't be of any more service then as the player moves perfectly fine for me. Sorry.
I just figured out why I couldn't move the player...
I just noticed (haven't used MCEdit in ages) that for some reason there are FOUR players in my level.dat!!
I have never seen this before.
I set the positions of all four models...
...and then started the game...
...and it is clear from where I am that I am "Player", and not "godk"
O.o
Anyone have any clue why I am not "myself"? Is this due to the new server-for-single-play architecture of MC?
And why would there be bloody 4 of me in a single-player world? I've not gone multiplayer since before 1.9
Anyhoo, I was always just moving the player that MCEdit opens to; my last position ingame, and the highlight was top at "godk".
I can't create Default world chunks. When I try, it says "ValueError: generator already executing". I want to be able to create jungles and tundras etc on flatworlds. And in the console it presents the same error.
If I can't create default world chunks, then I won't be able to create jungles. Even if I go to the dead center of the area with no populated chunks, it keeps happening. The Flatland generator works. The fact that very few people have tried is no excuse not to fix this huge bug.
So then why does it not work, even in chunks that won't generate and they never will until you go there?
I don't know anything about Mac's or their OS's but have you got the correct OS for the program? It doesn't work on the older OS's and from bits I've read on here and there are others that have had problems as well. The fact that it says 'The program is not compatible with this Mac' would possibly suggest that this is this case, but I can't say for certain. Check the version listed at the download link against your own OS. You might want to read the last 5-10 pages as there was a post or two about Mac's somewhere in there.
Also, for reference if a Mac user sees this, what OS do you currently have?
You have Intel Integrated Graphics and need to use an older version. The link to it is in the post I made a couple of places above your post.
An autosave would still be a bad idea for the reason mentioned as it could really screw up worlds even if it didn't corrupt them.
Can you get a crash report (look it up if you don't know how)? That would give us more info if you can.
Does MCEdit crash when you do other operations or just that one? If it does you may have Intel Graphics like the person above. Find the link to an Intel compatible version in a post of mine near the end of the previous page.
If you don't have Intel Graphics then you need to supply more info, version numbers, exactly what happens etc.

I'm using the chunk tool to delete huge swathes of my 500mb map that I don't go to in order to cut down the size but the folder size barely creeps down below 500mb. Admittedly I've still got a way to go but the folder size has not gon edown in proportion to how much I've deleted.

Yeah. it does copy the positioning

What's going on?
