I just tried, or I did just successfully make a 100 x 100 chunk watery ocean map then when I play on the Minecraft client, the ocean will turn to ice.
It's 5 blocks deep of still water filled in.
There's a link to the Mediafire to DL the map I created on mediafire at the bottom of this post
Im using "MCEdit Stable 21 64bit win32" with Minecraft 1.7.3 playing on the client. :sad.gif:
If anyone knowledgeable of this and why it happens please respond :smile.gif:
Thanks for the time reading me.

make a tool that lets you nudge select to make circles and select all the blocks in the selected area.and for the brush you should add an option to make a full blocked circle but with a hollow space inside to make the interiors of towers.or maybe you should add the ability to make accurate mountians and stuff :tongue.gif:
I'm sure someone's brought this up before, but is there a reason there's no option for what blocks a flat map is generated with? It's pretty irritating to have to replace a couple billion blocks to not start with a stone/dirt world.
Currently, we have a 1.7.3 server, which we use Bukkit to manage our mods with (worldedit, mcmmo, maybe a couple of others).
We want to move this to Minecraft Forge with version 1.8, and use IC/BC. However, porting our map to MineCraft Forge seems impossible.
It seems like MCEdit could save our areas in a schematic, and then load that schematic into the new (minecraft forge) server...However, we seem to be having some trouble doing it.
Does anyone know how to convert a typical minecraft [bukkit] map to be used in Minecraft forge?
It's killing me that this is so complicated, and that minecraft forge just cant use a generic map.
I have version 21 and I can't get it to run even after install the python modules.
OS: linux mint
Error & code:
./mcedit.sh
RuntimeError: Bad magic number in .pyc file
I am having the same problem when I try to open mcedit.
I am running Linux Mint 11 (64-bit)
my Python version is 2.7.1
and I downloaded MCEdit-stable21-linux-python2.6.tgz
I noticed that I am running a more recent version of Python but that is the one in the repositories and I am not comfortable enough downloading the source for 2.6 from their website and compiling it myself.
Is there another way to work around this problem or am I just out of luck?
Thanks in advance.
>>Hold ALT when you mouseover that chest and you might find it isn't a chest at all. If you really need to edit it now, it might work to use the testing build since I've added editors for dispensers and furnaces too.
1st. Thank you.
2nd. I tried holding ALT, and it tells me that the item indeed is a chest. When I double click it, I still receive the same error ("Can't do that yet").
3d. I guess I will either try the testing build or wait until your next release.
Thank you again.
Right, in the current version you can't edit a chest that hasn't been fully created in Minecraft. That's fixed on the testing build.

I'd love to see a invert selection feature, something along the lines of CTRL SHIFT I when having something selected would be perfect.
I'm having some issues with random chunks being created far out that are nigh impossible to find with the naked eye, being able to just select my world and have everything deleted around it with invert selection would be such a great help.

Try downloading the version of MCEdit for python2.7.
Hi codewarrior. I hate to ask a n00b question, but that's the way it goes. :wink.gif:
Is it possible for me to temporarily toggle a certain block value, such as 255:0 as invisible in my view for the entire map? Or to just make any Purple "unrecognized" block invisible without affecting the actual block?
Thanks!
[EDIT] Seems like chunk boundaries can be solid purple too. Would really help if I could toggle them invisible temporarily. :smile.gif:
I don't know. Check if your anti-virus is blocking MCEdit from accessing those files. Also check if you can create chunks directly using the Chunk tool.
I did this and I still get "permission denied" when creating a new world. It also happens sometimes when saving a large edit. No problem using the Chunk tool.
I have a question! I'm on a Mac 10.6.8, and every time I try to load the MCEdit app, it appears for a few seconds in my start bar, and then disappears.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this / what I am doing wrong?
Edit: I should add that I tried the post above's suggestions, but I keep getting "No such file or directory exists" in Terminal.
I have an island map that I've used since I got the game (around late alpha-ish) and I wanted to prune it on the edges to make space for new land in 1.8. However, when I do, the newly generated terrain has this horrible flat edge that really ruins the look of the map, and sometimes the island and the new terrain join up to make it a peninsula.
hey guys!!!! i have a very idiotic question.... i downloaded the zip version but when i run mcedit a black window opens says loading imports... then says press any key to continue when i press a key then it exits. i'm using windows7. i was wondering if had to copy the files to somewhere then run it or do something else!!!!!!!!!!plz help!!!

Hi, I have a question, I opened my map with MCedit, and some transparant red blocks apear troughout the world, the ALT does not give any info about it, and they are of the normal grid.
what are they? corrupt blocks? the world has been corrupted 2 times so..
but I'm not sure what to do.
any help?
Those are Entities. If there are too many of them, select them and use the Delete Entities command.

Hmm. It's probably a transient thing if it still works for you most of the time. I'm going to change that and add a retry, to see if it helps.
Code Warrior/anyone can help me ? I got some error message when i import 500 blocks tall schematic :sad.gif:
But i want insert 500 blocks tall object so bad. How to do that ?
I use MC Edit stable 21 64 bit.
Any reply really appreciate that.
Thank you very much.

P.S : It's for classic.
The error message says the schematic file is corrupt. Where did you get it? Would you mind uploading a copy for me to look at? (Upload to filesmelt.com if you need to)
MCEdit does not work on my computer. I can't just launch it.
I'm using a mac, here's some details :
[snip]
I found a solution, at least, i can launch the app now. It's a permission problem.
Open terminal, locate your MCEdit. Mine is in my Download Folder.
Type :
cd Downloads/Minecraft/MCEdit-stable21-OSX-10.6/MCEdit.app/Content/MacOS
(press enter)
type :
chmod 777 MCEdit
(press enter)
and it should work...
That is why I wrote "Extract using Archive Utility" on the Downloads page. Third party archivers don't respect the permission bits. If you tell me what program you used to open the .zip file, I'll go complain to its creators for you.

Try using the Brush tool's Erode mode or the Filter tool's Smooth and Decliff modes. It will take some effort until you get an edge that looks good to you.
Since I can't find the option when using MCedit, nor is it mentioned in the FAQ (of sorts) that is the first post, I have the following question: Can MCedit be used to edit the nether? And, if Yes, how?
Regards,
Korot
If you open a world where you've been to the Nether already, you'll see a "Goto Nether" button. (Did you try it?)
thanks for your reply this is the File contained map and object.(400 tall object)
*edit i've try compress the object from 500 tall to 240 tall and it's working when i imported it to the map with 1000 height blocks. but when i try the 500 tall it's not working.
The .schematic file is in fact corrupt. I'll ask again, where did you get it from? It doesn't look like it was exported from MCEdit.
The original object is from 3dmax, then i convert it to binvox created by erich and patrick, then i convert it to schematic file using binvox to schematic converter, then i import it to classic map using Mcedit.
Sounds to me like the binvox to schematic converter is buggy and makes corrupt files. Try using just binvox - it has a "-t schematic" option that will directly convert to schematic.

Right, in the current version you can't edit a chest that hasn't been fully created in Minecraft. That's fixed on the testing build.
We can't control the weather. All you can do is either change your RandomSeed (via Control-I) or move somewhere else.
Your schematic was corrupted or overwritten. I hope you have a backup.
Use the Chunk tool's Prune command.
Try downloading the version of MCEdit for python2.7.
