Hey codewarrior. I keep getting something like this every time I try to load up my SMP world:
Any idea what the problem might be? It's practically gibberish to me... Keeps erroring out however. Not sure what to do...
I originally just wanted to change the spawn, however when I thought the level.dat file might be the problem, I temporarily tried to produce another one, and it spawned ice along most of my visible ocean. I was able to save the majority of it, but it's going to be a herculean effort to get rid of all of it manually.
raider00321: Just curious, how long did it take until that happened?
pc1983: Thanks for the report. I have a few ideas for fixing that, so watch for a new version soon.
Grizzlechips: Your level.dat is indeed corrupt. The telltale line is "Not an NBT file [...] (found 0)." This happens often enough that I ought to check for it, and try to repair the level if I can.
Try to restore it from a level.dat_old or copy a level.dat from another world. It looks like you already tried this. Just make sure the new level.dat doesn't have SnowCovered enabled. You can use MineEdit to remove snow/ice and turn off SnowCovered.
I have a major complaint about calling this software "shareware".
Shareware implies "you gotta pay to use it". Call it donateware or something.
Maybe freeware:
Quote from Wikipedia »
The term shareware is used in contrast to retail software, which refers to commercial software available only with the purchase of a license which may not be copied for others, public domain software, which refers to software not copyright protected, and freeware, which refers to copyrighted software for which the author solicits no payment (though he or she may request donations).
(If that's your biggest complaint, you must be really enjoying this program!)
To be perfectly honest, the controls for selecting something in midair are somewhat unintuitive. Gotta be in lookfly mode.
Also, the thing tends to bug out when I use the select-block-type tool. Particularly when I don't want to USE it.
I should probably start you out in lookfly mode with a note, "Right-click to release cursor." The other mode isn't as useful right away especially with the broken surface selection.
Did you try hitting escape to cancel out of it? There's no button or clue that you can even do that. :sad.gif: I'm going to overhaul it in a patch or two anyway.
I tried destroying chunks of my map, but when it regenerates it after I run near it in game, its like it is using a new random seed because the terrain is very different. Anyone else get that? All you have to do to reproduce it is take any map, destroy a big chunk, then load up the level and the newly generated terrain won't line up with what was there, and you get these bit cutoff areas.

I tried to reproduce this. After deletion, the new chunks were identical to the old ones. Are you using a newly generated world, or one from an earlier version of minecraft?
You can prune the extra chunks from a level by selecting the ones you want to keep and using the chunk tool. You can also roll and flip blocks using the keys R F. Flip and roll are only structural right now, so expect your torches and ladders to fall off if you use them.
I'm wondering if it's choppy only because it has to read your level from disk. If you pack it into a zip file or similar, that'll preload the whole level into RAM as a side effect.

Hope this helps in your production =)

(As long as there's no chests, torches, etc.)

I've got a quad core with 16 gig and a GTX260 and plenty of juice so I shouldn't be chopping around.

What do you mean exactly? I'm not running it simultaneously or anything.
