Welcome to MedaCraft, the Medabots mod for Minecraft.
My name is KnightDemon and this is my third released mod. I'm making too many to keep them up to date, I'm sorry, but someone has to make these mods first, and it's been long enough, so why hasn't there been anything before!!
There was a mod called Pixelbots that looked promising almost 2 years ago, but sadly that too never released. So here we are, an actual Medabots mod. I'm quite proud of my modelling skills and I hope you all enjoy this mod. Now without further ado here we go :
DISCLAIMER : This mod is going to be regarded as a Work In Progress [WIP], so if you find any bugs please report them and don't expect the greatest of work, but do try to enjoy.
Current released version - 0.2.0 (4th May 2017)
Mod has been built for Minecraft 1.7.10.
Recommended Forge 1.7.10 - 10.13.4.1558
Features
The following should be a helpful guide to what's included in the mod. There is a configuration file that has some basic options that when on default provide the normal experience of play. This mod has been tested on multiplayer and despite some setbacks it worked fine. The mod is singleplayer friendly as it includes crafting recipes and spawns.
Medabot
The Medabot is an amazing feat of engineering allowing the Player to have a robot companion that follows them around and helps fight for them. They can be given different pieces of armour to change how they look, change their capabilities and make them stronger when fighting. Tinpets can come in either Male or Female versions.
To control the Medabot you simply have to right click it with an empty hand to make it either follow or sit. To first make it be tamed to you however you need to set the Medals owner to you by right clicking it on the ground, then right clicking an un-tamed Medabot with said medal. Afterwards you can use a Medawatch to access the inventory and equip parts.
Medabot will not follow if any of it's parts have 0 health, will not fight for same reason too.
Medabots can also render black when a part is damaged.
Right click damaged parts on Iron Blocks whilst you have iron ingots in your inventory to heal them.
Use a piece of paper to get details of a Medabot.
Medawatch on Transport mode, sneak left click to pick up.
Medawatch on Transport mode, right click to transport (spawn) medabot from inside watch.
Get more parts by fighting the wild spawning medabots. Medabot vs Medabot to get part.
Items
Several items but most can just be generalised to the Medaparts.
Head, Left Arm, Right Arm and Leg parts - equip or smelt into iron ingots.
Broken Medal and all 26 varieties of Medals - used for recipes or smelt medals into gold ingots.
Medawatches in 16 colours. - accesses the Medabots inventory when owner.
Medawatch has 2 modes (for now) and an inventory too.
Op override item, obtained from "/give PLAYER medacraft:op_override" - allows access to inventories when not owner of medabot. Not in creative menu.
Spawn Tinpet item - Spawns a tinpet, the base of a medabot. - can be used in dispensers.
Spawn Armoured Medabot - Spawns a random medabot fully armoured. Can be renamed for specific medabots and can also be used in a dispensers.
Blocks
Not that many blocks added so far, but just enough to play the mod.
Medal Randomiser - allows medals to be randomly gotten.
Medal Ore - basic simple way to obtain the base material.
Medal Case - store your unused medals in a neat way.

Crafting Recipes
You can craft the Tinpet spawner with a pink dye to make a Female Tinpet Spawner and then craft it with a light blue to make it a Male spawner once again.
Future plans
More Medabots (More Power).
Mr Referee... (don't know how he will work).
Improved combat system.
Interaction for parts with the world.
Quite a bit of ideas.
For Next Update
For Version 0.3.0
- LOTS of Medabot armours.
- World interaction for bots & parts.
- Mr. Referee
- NPC MedaFighters
- NPC Shop Owner
The next update will be quite a while off as it will contain lots of armours. The NPC's might not make it in, but an update just full of armours didn't seem like a reasonable wait of time :/ we'll see what goes in.
Known Bugs
Removing the medal from Tinpet seemingly deletes the medal.
Combat system doesn't seem to cause a revenge strike.
Medawatch and Medalcase do not have recipes.
MedalCase uses same texture for most of the different versions.
Afterthought's I'm still quite a beginner with modding and despite this one being my third one to be released I still have a long way to go. These mods help give me a structured project to work on and I'm liking it. The other 2 mods I have released are "Blockacy of Kain" a Legacy of Kain mod, and "Precursor Blockacy" a Jak and Daxter mod. If you feel like checking them out too, go for it, I'll be working on all 3 whenever I get a chance.
Love it. Maybe this could be the new pixelmon if it goes far! Might i suggest player kill immunity and possibly a gui based move commander. I know its a lot of work and such but it would be a great addiition that makes it more than just medabots whacking each other.
So it's been about 1 week since the mod went public. From my count it's at 190 downloads which I say isn't bad at all. Had two amazing mod showcases for it and plenty of those video's comments are promising. I am seeing a lot of comments asking for more and the problem would be there isn't really much to the mod right now, this including Medabots. So with that in mind I'll post a little of what I'm working on, and then I would love as many people posting a list of Medabots they'd like to see in the mod asap, I'm hoping to have a list of about 10 Medabots to add all at once in an update.
Working on :
Several fixes to minor things, and 2 large fixes, these being the medal disappearing from Tinpet's inventory, and then the AI not fighting back. Crafting recipes for Medawatch and MedalCases have been fixed too. Some new additions to the mod are the ability to "Transport Medabot" with the Medawatch. I use " " because it doesn't transport them and just stores the Medabot inside the inventory of the Medawatch (a new feature) and creates it when you want to. A future feature I have planned is the addition of a ranking system per world. So for instance on a server there's 5 players, they will all be ranked in order of wins / loss ratio, this will more than likely change to be more balanced but that's the best I have right now. This feature is in the future because all I have right now is a message output saying "Rank 0 : wins (0/0) losses" no matter what you do. I have a few thoughts on how I could use the ranking feature in-game but if anyone has any thoughts on it, post below.
Medabots :
I haven't started an the next set of Armour yet, but there will be one for this coming update. I haven't chosen it yet but I'd like you the community to let me know of the ones you'd like to be in-game. I'll get 1 made for this update and then the following update shall be a mostly Medabot update, but may comprise of other features if I think of something, or get suggested something that's neat. Before someone suggests it, the mod will eventually have "MedaChange", the vehicle form of Medabots in, I don't know when, I am hoping to have most of the season 1 Medabots in before that begins though.
A big thank you to those who have already posted in this thread, I'm glad you're keeping an eye on the mod and I hope you stick around long enough for me to add lots of awesome features and Medabots. A reply to acmr212, I don't know about player kill immunity, do you mean medabot deals 0 damage or player deals 0 damage? Right now I've changed it to disable the Medabots from targeting players so that the AI can actually choose a target to attack. A gui move selector isn't what I had in mind, but it would help in choosing left arm, right arm, or head attacks if the bot has them. I do want the Medabots to use more than just a bump into each other to deal damage, I have a projectile underway as well, but nowhere near ready, add to that balance issues and then AI choosing a ranged attack without it being spammy. It's a WIP, what can I say.

to resolve the "spammyness" you could have it so each arm and head part has a different cool down time between attacks, so they're not just using the same move over and over
it also opens up some more variety in strategy when building a medabot, since you'd have to choose between strong attacks with a long cooldown, or weak attacks that can be used often
hmm i got lots i like to be added here is my list of medabots i would like 1.Peppercat 2. Dr._Bokchoy 3.Blackram 4. Phoenix 5. Totalizer 6.Banisher 7.Oceana 8. Spidar 9. Spitfire 10. Fossilkat 11. Belzelga now ik this takes time and this part would be hard but maybe you can try to add in the Special Attack Medaforce or add in the metabee car mode as seen in the show heres a pic of it

The Metabee Car mode or "MedaChange" was added in Season 2 of Medabots to increase the Metabots power to fight against the Kilobots. I won't begin on that until after a good portion of Season 1 Medabots are made though. As for the armour set that Metabee uses for car mode, it's called "Saikichis" or "Metabee 2", to really enforce the difference between Metabee's armour and the new one. Don't worry though, they will come eventually, and I have actually already planned out how they will work, they'll even be ridable (or should they not be?).
That is a lovely list though, I would like more people to post a list but it gives me a starting point. Which I should mention the armour for the next update is halfway done. So that's a bonus already xD. And as for Medaforce, it will definitely be coming, however I'm having a little trouble planning an ability for each Medal type i.e. "Shoot", "Grapple", "Heal" etc. My thought right now is to just give every Medal the same MedaForce attack ability.
Tell you what, add a second List of Medabots, or some ideas, I can comment on each idea and let you know if I have them already planned for future updates, that way you can sort of guess the direction of the mod.
EDIT
@KumaZone, I completely overlooked a cooldown timer on each part individually, it's an obvious thought and sure to help with spamminess, definitely will add to the tactical side of things too. So that's something to help me towards the future, thank you.

I haven't forgotten about the Female Tinpet, in fact I am at a dilemma about it. I don't have a model for it of course, but that's not the issue I have, the issue I have is how to incorporate it into the Mod without limiting people. Say you wanted PepperCat's armour but didn't want a female tinpet, my thought is allow all armours to be equipped on all medabots, but in the games they didn't do that, they limited them. Possibly for strategic purposes, possibly for other reasons, I don't know, either way here's my breakdown :
1. make all armour equip to all tinpets.
2. have the female tinpet simply be a cosmetic choice.
the alternative to this would be making the armour limited. I think I can set it up to have a female tinpet no problem but the other points to think about are the combat style. Would equipping the female armour on a male tinpet cause some compatibility issues making the medabot worse at fighting to emphasize the difference in the fact it has opposite gender parts or do something else with it.
I rambled quite a bit and jumbled my words, sorry, I'm quite tired. Anyways hope you understand what I mean if not just ask. Anyways I think an update should be out within a week or two so keep your eyes open.

i understand that and it makes sense also what a about making the spawn rate of metabots higher and making a server for the mod
i understand that and it makes sense also what a about making the spawn rate of metabots higher and making a server for the mod
There should already be a config option to increase the spawn rate. I haven't been able to test that fully with my computer specs being as low as they are it takes a long time to load anything and even then testing the high rate of spawns might be too much for my computer.
I'm not a server maker, I'd love to have one available for people to play on too and even get involved myself. If someone comes along and sets up a server I'd be glad to post in the OP. However I couldn't set one up, either financially, or time management wise.
In fact one of the features for the next update should help server creators plan events with the mod in mind. It's not finished yet, this feature, but it could prove useful. I'll explain more once the update is out. Which by the way, I've begun work on the Female Tinpet, hopefully if all goes smoothly that'll be in the next update too, and will purely be a cosmetic choice, at least for now till I decide what to do about it.
Another question I've been meaning to ask everyone, what kind of inter-mod compatibility do people want / think would work really well? I'm open to all suggestions on this one, just don't go crazy with it.

I'm glad you enjoy the mod so much Lilith. Keep playing and if you have any thoughts about the mod then share away.
I'm just posting to let everyone know about the next update. I will be releasing the next one either on or before 5th May. I'll make a quick run through of what's being added is a new medabot, a female tinpet, achievements, updates to the medal cases and then several bugfixes that make the mod playable in survival even though it should have been playable in the first release, that was a mistake on my and my testers side, sorry.
So, I hope you all look forward to the 5th May, It's a guaranteed update day, even if things aren't ready, and more included than whats listed.

Hello there, the update is ready to go public BUT I won't release it till the 5th May. This is because I have decided that I would wait and get an exact value for the number of downloads in 1 month. So from 5th April to 5th May and that should give me a good statistic.
the other reason I'm posting again is to mention that Achievements are now in the mod and I am open to some suggestions if anyone has them. Also to expand on this if anyone has a quick idea I can add into the mod before the 5th then the update will become just that little bit better.

This update actually fixes a few issues with playing the mod in pure survival, 1 major one being unable to obtain the MedaWatch. There was supposed to be a crafting recipe in the 0.1.0 release but it got past without one. I already added the crafting recipes to the OP so no need to wait on them
I regret to inform all of you that the next update will definitely be at least 2, more than likely more, months away, and the reason for this is that I will be making a huge batch of Medabots and those along with real life commitments and other mod commitments means a long development time. But whilst making this big batch of Medabots I'll be keeping an eye on the thread and looking for any feedback from this update and possible ideas. I already have a few which just need time to code in as well, they might make it into the next update too xD we'll see.
I'd like to thank both Dartron and TheTrueGingerShadow for their mod showcases which have totalled over 10,000 views and has helped get the mod up to the downloads that it has, which by the way is 292, close to 300 for a first release of a mod, I'd say that's been a huge success, so again, thank you.

So that's something to help me towards the future, thank you.
ok then
Mega-Emperor or Attack-Tyranno ... but mostly Mega-Emperor
KnightDemon, you knew i was going to ask
Dont forget there is a female tinpet
well if you want more metabots i can do that heres a list of 12 more i would also like to see 1. Gorem-2 2.Mistyghost 3. Nin-Ninja 4.Acehorn 5.Beast Master 6.Cyandog 7. Whitesword 8.Sailor-Multi 9. Pirastar 10. Warbandit 11. Dracudon 12. Neutranurse there you go a second list also would you please make a server for this when you can this mod has got me re watching metabots also dont forget there is a female tinpet
I'm open to all suggestions on this one, just don't go crazy with it.
ok nice i would host a server for this mod but i dont got the money to run it also i am having alot of fun with the mod its so much fun cant wait for the update and if you need more help testing it i would be happy to help
Well I couldn't wait any longer and just wanted to release the mod xD

I'd like to thank both Dartron and TheTrueGingerShadow for their mod showcases which have totalled over 10,000 views and has helped get the mod up to the downloads that it has, which by the way is 292, close to 300 for a first release of a mod, I'd say that's been a huge success, so again, thank you.
well keep up the great work knight
