I came back to check on this after a good 8 months, and to my surprise and delight, there's a release! How exciting! I can't wait to try this out. It looks incredible.
I would like to add/second that, if you're planning on fixing roosters laying eggs, then it makes sense to also fix bulls giving birth. You'd be fixing one gender related problem, but not another.
It would just give the mod that much more of a realistic feel...and after all, it is called REALISTIC Livestock... and REALISTICALLY... Bulls, Boars, and Rams don't give birth (respectively, should be the Heifer, Sow, and Ewe plopping out little ones).
Just sayin'.
EDIT: Wondering if you'll be adding a config file? I don't see any way to customize this mod (beef drops from cows, milk 'frequency', etc) and I also don't see any JAS SpawnListEntries generated so I can't customize when and where the animals spawn.
Configs will be added in the next update for sure. The new entities just replace the vanilla one at spawn.

So..... I am playing on a private server, and added this mod. I spawn cows in through creative mode, and they instantly disappear. I can hear them, but I can't hit them (spawning them inside of a fence so I know where they should be). There are no naturally spawning instances of any of the Realistic Livestock. :/
EDIT: Tried a single player world with just this mod installed. Livestock shows up in single player, but not multiplayer. Also, I only see brown sheep, and the only type of cow I find is the one from your untitled screenshot, on the previous page.
There is a bug in server side support fixed in the next update.
Can you add having to feed the animals, for more realism?
I'm thinking about add feeding for automatic breeding and for dairy cows to produce milk
exemple: cows destroy wheat plants and then breed, they would take 2 days (or more) to feel like eating the wheat
and dairy cows (dairy goats and dairy sheeps too) eats grass or tall grass to produce milk (they would have 2 ways to produce milk, breeding and eating grass)
no, there is not a version of BovineCraft coded, and I don't plan to work on it (it's just a old project)

Thanks for letting me know
You want some sneak peeks? Well, wait a bit.

So excited to finally use this mod. It goes so well with my Fossils and Archeology modpack
I listen to Gorillaz while making textures.

Fix the bug where the males also make the babies
Also, What update will the barbados sheep be added?
in the next update males won't "give birth"
and barbado is a interesting breed, maybe I will add it
k
Sorry to ask this again, but I'm really curious to know if the common sheep will ever be dyeable or made compatible with the jeb_ easter egg?
No, every new sheep type will have their own color and it cannot be changed.

I swear on discord a while ago you said you would add barbados, I might be wrong though.
oh wait it was the mouflon not the barbados, I made a tiny mistake there
Aw... disappointed to know, but thank you for the reply. =D
sheeps won't be dyeable because the mod is supposed to be realistic... sorry
k
Well it's not really unrealistic, some farmers do dye their sheep in real life for identification purposes and so people can't steal their sheep.

but when the sheep is sheared the wool will grow with the natural color, not with the dye color
k
That's fair!
