Is this still being developed? I see the original post hasn't been updated in a while because it says Minecraft 1.9 isn't out yet. I'd hate to see Metallurgy go.

Timeless Modding is kinda dead but idk what to put here now
These metals are not metallurgic, they are electrometallurgic, chemometallurgic and transmutants, but are not metallurgic (ie, can not be obtained by only smelt the ore).
Well, you can't just heat up manganese. You need to put it through a chemical reaction after you heat it up before you can use it.
Also metallurgic essentially means "the study of how to use metals". There are better justifications than whether or not it can be smelted when put through a furnace. Iron, when smelted normally, is a low quality metal. I don't think they're aiming for realism *cough* fantasy metals *cough* nether metals *cough* end metals *cough*.
Though, it would be cool if some of these metals would only produce nuggets when smelted (aluminum comes to mind), but when put through a special processor, had a higher ingot-per-ore yield than other ores when put through a crusher. Aluminum, for example, was incredibly expensive when it was first discovered (Napoleon III used aluminum plates for fellow emperors and heads of state, while princes and dukes had to settle with mere gold), but only because ways to process it was prohibitively expensive. Titanium isn't all that rare, but it is very expensive to extract, significantly contributing to it's cost.
However, this may screw with other mods' compatibility and balance and stuff, but there's always the config...

See the tweets of shadowclaimer.
The mod stay in development, but such development was delayed due that the new battle mechanics that has been added to minecraft 1.9.
Ie, he must to make the mod right from the start.
Shadowclaimer hasn't posted anything about the mod since may 21st,
the only news is a tweet by Jean Glassmaker saying hes working on the mod again,
and the mod wasn't in BTM16 despite Shadowclaimer saying it would be in.
I believe that's why chapolin71 is asking if the mod is dead or not, there should at least be something playable when M5 has been in development for a year.
Hello Shadowclaimer! I have been a really big fan of this mod ever since I discovered it when it was Metallurgy 3. I see a lot of my favorite mods updating and moving on to newer versions, and also see that you are working hard to update Metallurgy into something better than it ever has been before! I can't wait to see the new stuff you have in store for the mod! However, I am beginning to miss Metallurgy in my game so much that I refuse to play on newer versions of modded Minecraft until I can have both Metallurgy and Tinkers' in the game.
I am not very experienced in Java, but I do have some basic knowledge of it and can understand how most things work by reading around and watching videos. If I may have your permission, I would like to work on creating a temporary port to later versions of Minecraft. I'd be attempting to bring Metallurgy 4 up to versions 1.9-1.11.
I'd also like to thank both you and Glassmaker for all of the hard work you put into making Minecraft a much better experience for myself! I literally can't wait for Metallurgy 5, and I'm stuck on 1.7.10 for now.
If you do port metallurgy to 1.10.2 please release it. Metallurgy is one of the more critically important mods for what i'm trying to do. without it in 1.10 there really isn't much variety in armors.

Ah I see well that's cool hopefully by the time you've ported it to 1.11.2 the earth mod as well as a few other mods that are keeping me locked in 1.10 like davinci's ships will be over there.

I have VERY limited knowledge of Java, but can make basic blocks and armor which when it comes down to it is all Metallurgy really is. I think I could figure out how to patch it in to work with Tinkers' Construct easily enough, since the TiC API actually supports this directly now in later versions (based on what I've read). World generation is what gets me. I'm awful at coding, otherwise BetterStorage would be a thing on 1.10+ and everything. HOWEVER, there is a work-around. CoFHCore allows for custom world generation, and while the world-gen may be not included in the base mod CoFHCore doesn't add anything that can't be toggled off really... so I could work out a config file that is included as part of the mod that will be placed into the CoFHCore world gen files and that should take care of things.
So long as I have permission to do so because copyright and junk, I'll at least attempt to recreate it.
Probably never going to happen. There's no development on the main github, only on various people's forks.
I'm calling it, this is dead.

PixelQuest 2, my new 1.10 RPG/rougelike-inspired modpack, is coming soon!

If it gets cancelled, hopefully someone will fork it or something. I think it's going to be released though.
well what happened to this mod been waiting for ages, maybe you also can add like a mining dimension for all the quarrying needs...

I would really love if we could get a confirmed dead or alive.
Oh, what a surprise. Metallurgy V is dead before it even really started.
I don't know how to mod, or even sprite, so I guess I'll just wait until a new ore/metal mod comes out.
I don't have much to add but...I miss this mod so much! One of the best. Someday, hopefully, we'll see it revived.
If someone has the source to Metallurgy 3 or 4, let me know. I'm wanting to port it to 1.10 and 11. Nobody's seen Rebel around for a while.
I'm aware. Just hoping for someone to pull through here.
Just scrolled up and found this. Appreciated! I'll get to work.

Sorry man, i've decided to go ahead and port it over to 1.11.2 instead due to more mods steadily carrying themselves over to it.

I thought 1.11.2 was a dead version like 1.8.9 ended up being...

It's on the backburner for awhile until I can find a new coder.
