Here is a delightful mod that revolutionises Minecraft's breeding system. It is in early alpha, so while there are tonnes of current, working features, there will be bugs (I may be wrong about this), missing textures and all that jazz. NOTES: - Timing is off atm for debugging reasons such as pregnancy timing and egg timing. Please use this in SP at your own discretion.
Animals and villagers have/will have their own models, skins and sounds!
Here's what it adds:
1. Animal Genders
2. Pregnancy, milk, bottle feeding functionality.
3. Mother/Father genetics carry-over to child.
4. A few achievements.
5. Bulls charge at you as long as you're holding anything red.
6. Female villagers, WIP pregnancy feature.
7. Pregnancy hints: growing belly, udder, etc.
Here's what will be added:
1. Further villager support. (In the works!)
2. Mating season.
3. Horses, rabbit support.
4. Possibly herbs and plants to speed pregnancy, increase lactation, etc.
5. Selective breeding.
6. Village pens
7. Scented candles?

Cow and bull getting funky. The tagger to keep track of your animals. This baby calf is nice and fed. Tagging a ewe several days before birth. A ram, with his mate in the distance feeding their pink offspring. First look at the female villager. Some more shots of the ladies.
What about all the animals' genders pre-mod? -Well, fortunately, this mod auto assigns gender data to all animals randomly on spawn if no such data already exists. This means that some of your female animals will be permanently genderswapped into males! Isn't that exciting?!
This looks like a great mod but will it be 1.7.10 aswell and I really think you should change the Female villagers' appearance. Frankly, i've always viewed the Witch as female but just really ugly, so maybe the female villages should just be really... ugly. Maybe with a wart on their nose, just like the witch?
Otherwise, this mod looks great. I'll try it out soon and tell you what I think of it in-game, i'll be tracking this mods progress.
Not necessarily for modpacks, just for all-around 1.7.10 use. A lot of mods aren't updated to 1.8 yet so a lot of people just use 1.7.10 for particular mods. I am one of these people if i'm in a mood to play modded MC on that one certain mod, currently having unfortunate trouble with millenaire...
That's pretty much it, though seeing a 1.8 mod is fantastic, people also search for 1.7.10 compatibility.
Fair enough. It is going to be very difficult to maintain further down the track though.
I'll have to pull support from that version once we start seeing a lot more 1.8 mods.
The entities themselves? Nope. I do however replace the models and renderers of the vanilla mobs since we have access to that. Then I just add different AIs for different mobs. And this is done in the onEntityConstruction and onEntitySpawn events.
