Harvest Festival is a mod heavily inspired by the Harvest Moon series of games. Adding crops and animals, that need to be cared for in order to make the most out of them. Village and relationship building with the introduction of new npcs and the builder, who will help you build a town for the people, as well as guide you on your way. Also adding seasons that affect day length, daily weather, cooking and a new way to mine.
Features
Seasons that affect day length, what you can grow and the appearance
13 new crops, and crops that need to be watered to grow
Livestock including cows, chickens and sheep that need to be cared for and can produce better products
A builder where you can buy buildings, in order to build a town
NPC Interaction, improving relations to progress further
Shops where you can buy items, animals and more
Ability to sell your crops, fish and other things to progress
A mine, with infinite floors for you to traverse for selling or upgrading tools
Cooking system, using ingredients for varied options
Warning: Harvest Festival by default makes vanilla crops useless AND prevents water from spreading (this can be configured)

Getting Started
To get started you are going to need to summon the Harvest Goddess. Once you summon her, there is an option for a tutorial, this will guide you through the rest of the mod. In order to summon the goddess you will need to do the following:
What's coming?
There are many things I have yet to add. I won't go in to full detail but will list what I have planned
If you enjoy the mod and appreciate the development, I would be greatful for any support. Just playing the mod is good enough, but if you wish to donate.
WOW! I was just trying to "re-create" the Harvest Moon experience in Minecraft using a bunch of mods when I discovered this thread. Now I am excited. I want to help so expect some buildings from this guy! Does the building need to be built in a specific version of Minecraft? Will it be OK if to upload the saves on dropbox and PM you the links?
1.7.10 would be preferable, since thats what it's currently being developed on I'd port to 1.8 after it's out for first release. Thanks for offering to help! dropbox/pm would be fine
I thought of something today. Does pam's harvestcraft not have all the seeds and more that you would need for this mod? I couldn't see from the mod post that she has some sort of api in place. I guess it all depends on dependencies and so on... Link below to the mod post:
I'm not really a fan of the way harvestcraft is implemented. And wouldn't wanna use her textures. Plus I've gone for the crops grow when you sleep/once a day thing. (At least by default, might have a 'faster growth' config option). And I plan to render the crops rather than just use the criss-cross :p. Plus this I guess is more of a 'hardcore' version. (By default :P).
Was thinking about the seeds. It will be the seed bags (as you'll plant them in a 3x3), but I'll probably only need a grayscale image of the bag. I can generate the icons dynamically from the bag + crop.
I should probably update the first post with some more up to date information. The mod isn't dead, not by a long shot, if you look at the github, work has been done on it, but at a slower pace than expected. I do have other mods to think about too, so they've distracted me some. I'm hoping to get back in to it more next month
As a huge harvest moon (but more recently stardew valley) fan, I have to ask. How are NPC's going to work? Please don't say randomly generated. :< I think it'd be nice to have stories behind them and personality.
Also, will other mods be compatible with this, or will this be an overhaul pack like in Aether?
Because TBH it'd be hilarious to be a country farmer in a modular power suit with a quarry destroying the countryside JUST OUT OF SHOT, with a tunnel bore under the village and an automatic MFR mob farm keeping the villagers up at night.
Looking forward to this, can't wait until it's releaesed!
EDIT: House... upgrades? Surely in minecraft you can just... say... build a bigger house? Wot?
You'll progress through a very simple story, with some quest like things, initially and you'll get the carpenter to build you buildings, which new npcs will move in to. Essentially expanding the town kinda like a new beginning, although not quite since you get someone to build it for you. Plan is to be compatible with mods normally not overhaul, so vanilla things still exist, the mod would be optional to play, with configs to disable vanilla things if you wanted. Only part that would affect everyone is the seasons, but even then only visually since vanilla crops would grow normally, although you can of course disable them and use my seasonal crop system for them instead.
As for house upgrades, yes, but it's still fun for laziness sake :P.
With the way it's designed. I've made sure it's possible to play with other mods. Although you might have things you have to adjust your playstyle for. Since you have to pay more attention to your crops and animals. (One a minecraft day). Although i have config options for where i'm affecting vanilla like with the water spreading to soil. If you want to be lazy :p. But then again that interaction can be mitigated with sprinklers, and your animals won't die (just get really sick). Though they will die of old age eventually. I'm not sure about other things, but since I like to play with a bunch of mods myself, I'm gonna have to do some extensive playtesting.
On the note of this! I am actually almost done :D, I have a few textures, and some localization left to do. Most of the code, for what I want in the first release is done ^_^.

might I suggest the name, Farm Story? It's closer in line with the original title of the source series.
A question about the seeds textures, would you like to use packets/bags or traditional seed shapes?
I would really like this mod, I assume that a lot of people wait for a mod like this.
I don't have modding skills, but achievements in-game would be fun too, then you keep people playing.
Something that definitly would be making a great way into the hitlists of mods, and modpack makers would want to add this one.
So I reaaallllyyy wait for this one And good luck with the stuff I don't understand ;p

It's standalone but will have special support/integrate with other mods too especially ones with the crops
It seems development came to a stop...
Do you plan on picking it up again?
Updated the first post with some images
If anyone wants to help out feel free to check what needs to be done ^_^.

Very cool mod Waiting for download link
Just saw this, this sounds and looks amazing Excited to see this in action.
Do you think this will be compatible with some other more regular mods? Or are there any huge core changes that would affect others?
