As far as upgrades that might be interesting to see, I've got a couple of ideas:
+tool swap slots, for those who like to always carry a pick and shovel and axe and hammer and saw and scoop and 3 wrenches, even if it requires cannibalizing regular backpack slots.
Custom/Omni swap: synergizes with the previous idea, an upgrade that either lets you specify what can go in the swap slots, or an upgrade that lets you swap anything not blacklisted for quick access if set up right.
Bait: an upgrade that slowly consumes certain items to attract certain mobs (hopefully each mob would have their own attract item, but it would make nighttime pretty funny) from a large distance.
Tether harness: your backpack is now engineered to assist in rock climbing by carrying a ton of line in it securely attached to several points on the backpack, as well as a reeling mechanism. Right click on the side of a block with / fire a tethering arrow at the side of a block to secure yourself to it. While secured onto a face, you can use jump to reel yourself in towards the point, and sneak to loosen the line some. Remember gravity exists, so you may end up swinging into a hill if you have too much distance between you and the other point and you jump off of a cliff. Possible tier 2 upgrade: You can now fire / attach a second tether point, making it be a taut line with no slack letting you hold in place in midair, hold jump to reel towards one end, sneak to go the other way. (or perhaps jump to go to the higher point, sneak to go to the lower.) To think of: A good way of disconnecting from the line, maybe a button next to the take off backpack button?
These are more like things that I liked in forestry that would be nice to have, but not mandatory: an upgrade to let picked up items go straight into the backpack, and an upgrade to replenish blocks that are present in the players inventory. Preferably with some sort of ingame configuration.
would you be able to add some dynamic lighting to the glowstone backpack? i know it is a light source when placed, but that seems tedious. I installed the DynamicLights mod and it actually crashed me when placing the backpack in a previous version(havent tried it since 0.8) and while wearing the backpack it doesnt light light up even having the mod installed. Would it be easier for you to incorporate this feature, or should i turn to Atomic for compatability?
Having some bad lag troubles when opening the back pack but only when its on my back (having something in the chest slot always makes it slower)in my inventory it dose great.
A lot of mods make the lag a lot worse. It doesn't seem to be any mod doing it by its self but all the mods adding up to a lot of lag when opening the backpack. when removing mods the ones that add a lot of items helps more than smaller ones.
sorry for the lack of info don't know what you need to help you.

Are you using the latest version? In the latest version, you don't put the backpack in the chest slot.
can you add a function that allows the backpack to work with inventory tweaks mod.
for instance you have a stack of snowballs in your backpack and you have a stack of snowballs in your hand, when the stack of snowballs is finished that you have in your hand it will be replenished by the stack from your backpack.
How do I equip the backpack? I know in the newest version your supposed to click a button in the GUI but the only button I see is the sleeping bag. Thanks for any help.
Right click with a bag in hand into the "empty" air", and a inventory grid shows up. In the down left corner of that new window, there is a button with a green arrow and a minecraft dude. Just press it. (But if you do this in creative, the bag will duplicate.)
Then just use the "B" button to access the same button to remove the bag from the back, when it's needed.

Thank you that works perfectly. Not sure if that was mentioned anywhere in documentation. Maybe I just missed it somewhere. The liquid tanks don't seem to work with the thirst mod so I don't see what the point of being able to drink from the hose is.

yes i am using the latest version 0.8b. by something in the chest slot I mean like armour not the backpack its self.
something i noticed the helipack and jetpack don't lag like other backpacks when on my back.
o something that would help is a way to take backpacks off without opening the inventory. right now i have to take 5 mins in my mod pack to get a backpack off. also help if something in the pack causes a crash you won't be stuck with the pack forever.

Yes i have 63 different mods installed using the atluancher to make a private mod pack
In the first post about this issue I did say it was mods causing the lag but non causing the lag by them self its just something with all the items the mod adds makes it slower to open the backpack.
Here is the list of mods from the instance.json that atlauncher makes. Hope it helps.

Hm... Well, I'll tell you this much. I too have had problems with opening inventories. The thing is certain combinations of mods will cause your inventory to have a lag. When I installed Riov I and II, eternal Isles, and wildycraft all at the same time, I got a lag. It had nothing to do with how big those mods were, but I couldn't tell you what did cause it. 1.I'm a girl...XD
2.That would be AMAZING.Too bad I don't have any recording software XD

Good, huh?
Also, will you add the 1.7.2 version of this mod? I mean it!
It will add a new backpack called "Diamond Backpack"!
What do you mean? This mod already has a diamond backpack 0_0
Oh, sorry!
It's cool
