I've built several mods for 1.10.x and 1.9.x, hence I am aware of the ease of updating. The most significant change will be the 1.9 combat changes. As 1.9 made skeletons far more dangerous, we may have to rethink the use of bones in BB.
I've always said that animals dropping bones should be the default (maybe with an adjustable setting for drop chance rather than an outright toggle). More dangerous skeletons might make for the perfect time to finally implement that. Though, in fairness, you can still just hide out until the sun rises and then collect bones in an open field when the skeletons burn up. It just requires making more tactical choices in how you play.
You said that cloth had no uses. I had the idea that maybe it could be used as a catalyst item to pad armor (instead of wool) or maybe some other stuff.
By the way, LOVE THE MOD IDEA!!!!!!!!! I'm downloading it right after I post this.
I really like this mod for 1.7.10, but I've found a few bugs..can I post them on Curse? Also, have a request to please add cooking compatibility for other mods. I have about 5 mods that are practically useless until I can cook stuff in the kiln.

Bugs go here. All our crafters(kilns, smelters, ACT, etc) have MineTweaker support in 1.7.10. If you've never used MineTweaker before, start here. I may write an autoloader at some point, but not right now. I'm busy with life.

Thank you for the reply. I'm giving MineTweaker a go, but it doesn't seem to cooperate when I add this line to the script:
import mods.betterbeginnings.Kiln;
and instantly when reloading the script it gives.
ERROR?:1 > No such member: betterbeginnings
ERROR?:1 > Not a valid type
I've spent a lot of time copying and pasting the demo script and trying different things and I'm always getting the same error.
It seems to me the mod isn't being recognized.
Edit:
I deleted everything and put just this line and it reloads without errors

# Only remove furnace recipes for vanilla items/blocks. Requires 'Disable vanilla smelting'. [default: true]
B:"Only remove smelting recipes for vanilla items"=true
If set to "false", does that mean that the recipes are not removed (in essence, retaining vanilla functionality) or, does that mean it removes vanilla smelting recipes as well as any smelting recipes added by mods? I guess I'm confused by the "only remove" part, and I'm not sure which of my interpretations is correct. I'm assuming it's the former, but I just want to be sure.

If set to true it will remove vanilla smelting recipes as well as non-vanilla smelting recipes.

When you make 1.10 version make the same version for 1.7.10 version.
Not quite sure what you're asking here, but I'll guess that you're asking us to backport any new features we may add in 1.10.x/1.11 BB to 1.7.10 BB. The answer is no. 1.7.10 and 1.10 are too different, 1.7.10 and 1.11 are even farther apart. 1.7.10 BB is getting nothing but bugfixes, backporting features is not worth the effort.

Hello everybody! I just wanted to let you know that I am in the process of updating BB to 1.10.2. It's going well, the mod currently runs on 1.10.2, though not everything works properly. I'm currently in the process of porting everything from old systems to new systems(Purely internal, BB will still play more or less the same). I don't know when 1.10.2 BB will be ready for release, so please don't ask. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me!

It's here at last. BetterBeginnings has been ported to 1.10.2!
What's changed? Not much, BB v0.9.7 R1c-pre1 is more or less a straight port of BB v0.9.7 R1. My first priority was to get the mod ported to 1.10.2. Now that I've done that I can start rebalancing it for 1.10.2 and adding new features.
The first part is where I need your help. 1.9 changed a lot, I want to see how those changes affect BB. I've built a prerelease, which I'll be playing and testing myself, but I'd like feedback from players too. You can find the prerelease here. I would appreciate it if you guys would play through BB and tell me what's unintuitive or just downright difficult. I want feedback from everyone; whether you play BB alone, with a few other mods, or as part of a much larger pack; whether you're new to BB, or an existing player. Please either post feedback on this forum thread or on my fork's Github, so that everyone can share their experiences and discuss solutions.
Some of you will notice that the github I just linked to is not the one linked in the OP, that's because I can't close or tag issues there. Einsteinsci is really busy IRL right now, until he can give me the permissions I need, please post issues on my fork's Github.
Would you consider adding missing textures for 1.7.10 something you could do for "bug fix only" mode? It's just the two textures for the marshmallows that are missing - Marshmallow on a stick, and Browned Marshmallow on a stick.

Well, it's a bug, so yes. Bugfix only mode just means that 1.7.10 won't be getting new features. I'll take a look at this issue and see what's wrong, the items should have textures.

I've decided what to do with BB for 1.7.10 and 1.8. Both versions will go into bugfix only mode, only 1.10.2 will be in active development and get new features.
I have chosen to keep 1.7.10 in bugfix only mode as besides the players playing BB on that version, I am aware of several pack makers using BB in their packs. I wish to support them.
I have chosen to keep 1.8 in bugfix only mode as well because it is the main version the userbase seems to be using at the moment, as far as I can tell from downloads.
Both 1.7.10 and 1.8 will have equal bugfix priority. Please report any bugs here rather than on einsteinsci's fork. Einsteinsci is currently busy IRL and hasn't had time to give me permissions on that repo, which means I cannot administrate it.

Non-existent, as I haven't ported it yet. We have a json based recipe system you can use though.

Edit:
I deleted everything and put just this line and it reloads without errors
val Kiln = <betterbeginnings:kiln>;
Then I add this line underneath
Kiln.addRecipe(<minecraft:apple>, <minecraft:wool>);
This can be any item, I've tried various configurations such as
Kiln.addRecipe(<minecraft:apple> * 2,<minecraft:wool>,0.5);
And this error shows up:
ERROR: Minetweaker.zs:3 > No such member in minetweaker.item.IItemStack: addRecipe
ERROR: Minetweaker.zs:3 > any values not yet supported
ERROR: Error executing Minetweaker.zs: 1
Are you using the lastest version of BetterBeginnings?
Also, <betterbeginnings:kiln> refers to the physical kiln block, not the kiln recipe tweaker.
