Oh I see, there's a research called that now. I've only just started Thaumcraft 4.2.
And I went through all this trouble to get a Warding Focus too.
Edit: Got it, thanks everyone.
Also, what constitutes a Thaumic Device in regards to the infusion provider? Could anyone give me a rundown on how infusion using an infusion provider would work?

With the recent changes to TC, as far as I know the only thing that still uses the infusion mechanic is the infusion alter. Gone are the days where I used an essentia mirror 'hub' to feed lamps of growth and the arcane bore :-/
So all I need to do is chuck an infusion provider under one of the infusion pillars/next to the matrix and it'll go smoothly?
Personally I wouldn't due to symmetry issues, as the infusion alter is extreamly picky about symmetry. If you have a 1-off block that you need to add to infusion area, you best place to put it would be above the runic matrix or under the central pillar, so long as it stays in infusion range.
Once you get into the high+ instability infusions you could find yourself waging a war trying to put down enough paraphernalia just to counter-ballance the out-of-place block. Early on, not so much of an issue, but things like runic shielding will cause rapid hair loss without proper symmetry. And yeah, thats first hand experience talking lol.
One of my favorite setups that includes the infusion provider can be seen here:
Is there any way you could make this compatible with the Thaumcraft NEI plugin? Also, is there a reason the arcane terminal is so tiny? All the proper AE2 terminals have a large view area for items, but the Arcane one has a tiny item view area (only 3 rows).

That is simply because I haven't felt the need to look into how Algo did that. I still have a large set of features to add to the mod, and GUI code is some of my least favorite code to work with. However the code is open source, so if you or anyone else wants to add the feature and send me a pull request please feel free to do so.
You are trying to mix Applied Energistics RV2 with Thaumic Energistics RV1. Just like with Extra Cells, you must use the same branch (RV1 or RV2) for both.
what about making the infusion provider a multiblock, to make it more interesting than just placing a block
Thaumcraft has multiblock structures like the Infernal Furnace and Advanced Alchemical Furnace to allow complex actions that would either not work or be very awkward with a single block, and the Infusion Altar to allow expansion of the altar as needed and for ascetic choice. Mods like Railcraft, Big Reactors, Thinker's Construct, and Applied Energistics (crafting CPUs) do it to allow control over the function of the structure to meet your needs. Blood Magic uses it's primary multiblock structure as an expanding progression mechanic.
What purpose would making the infusion provider into a multiblock have other than to make it more complicated to set up, if it's still going to function exactly the same as it does as a single block?
Woo! How did you end up dealing with Vis discounts from armor, and is it smart enough to realize that it's connected to a Vis relay and that it can wait for a charge, or does it limit crafting queues to the capacity of the wand?
-you've just gotten me to update the AE2 on my server to rv2-

As of the initial release there will be no vis discounts, however that is planned. The assembler assumes that it has, or will have, enough vis to perform a craft and always reports as ready so long as you have the items.

Does it pull the vis from the internal storage or from a wand attached to the system somehow?
Nice, didn't even think of that one but that really is effectively the same as getting it from a wand anyway and it should force it to be reasonably end game for you to have an energized node. (no skipping wand tiers)
Does that mean scanning glass that has been warded? Because simply researching the focus doesn't unlock it.
He means stuff like Arcane Doors, pressure plates, Warded Glass (Not glass that has been warded with the warding focus)

That's on the Thaumcraft NEI dev to work out. The reason there isn't 'comparability' is because none of the Arcane Worktable recipes have [?] support.

It gets vis through a linked Vis Relay Interface.
