i actually like where this might be going! it might actually revolutionize the tekkit modpack, and make other mods more awesome! if it was possible to upgrade, say, ic2 machines 'n stuff, this mod will change the history of minecraft as we know it!
I'm not a fan of IC2, in fact, part of why I am doing this is to provide a sort of 'alternative' to IC2. The short of it is I feel that IC2 has become too grindy and too complex when it comes to tasks that should be simple. I'm happy to provide support for IC2 power in the mod, but that is as far as I will go in that regard.
Unless IC2 were to reverse course and return to their less grindy days, but until then I'm more than happy to work in competition against them.
If it is, I'll send a message to Direwolf20 about this once it releases.
Also, anything specifically planned? Like machines, pipes, tanks, etc.?
Forge will be required.
I don't have everything planned and a fair amount of it was and is spontaneous ideas that I thought fit in with it, but I do have a large amount planned. Things like pipes, tanks and machines are definitely in the works.
sorry, I guess I misread the question, yes I will be implementing my own power system. It will be compatible with as many other power systems as I can make it be.

So will alloys be able to be smelted in the TiC smeltery and made into tool parts too? Also when TiC is not installed will we be able to make our alloys into tools?

Well, we're mainly here for the machines, so if you want tools, just add TiCon.
Sebc might want to go on a different route though.
I'm not 100% decided on how I'll handle tools, but it'll likely be the case that any tool-types I create will be available regardless, but anything I add via TiCon crafting will only be available when TiCon is installed.

Hey, I am making a mod with a very similar concept to this one (great minds think alike I guess), and I am really interested to see where this is going. I have already implemented something similar to the basic alloy functionality you talk about in your opening post (combining any metals or alloys together to create new alloys with different attributes). Right now you can use my alloys (or amalgam as I call it) to create customized weapons, tools and armor, but I eventually want to move on to using it to make customized tech stuff too (pipes, chests, furnaces, etc). My code is all open source so you can take a look if you want. And if you want to use any part of my code in your mod feel free to, it could save you some time!

I do not imply I have any skill whatsoever, but I made tons of textures for a sonic screwdriver mod and never really did anything with them. Here is a link if you want them: Here
I would have to agree. Maybe we can get the creator of IC2 to make his mod simpler.

But more real ting to this mod, will we be able to make generators as well as machines?
Yes, there will be numerous methods of power generation.

Oh, I agree, but I meant TiCon would be the gateway to use the alloys in Technical Tinkerer for tools.
It would probably put less strain on Sebc.
