Welcome to the world of Dragons. This is a mod that adds dragons to the world of minecraft and a utility to the dragons. look at the world around you, no matter what it is or where it is, we use machines to make our lives easier. In this mod we use dragons.
you might be thinking, wow this seems very familiar to a movie that came out a year or 2 ago with Vikings and dragons, well you are correct, I greatly enjoyed that movie and some of the stuff might be similar. now note this is not a mod based off that movie, This mod just takes some aspects that I thought are neat and integrated them into the mod.
The stage of this mod is fresh off the idea table. As progression happens, this will be updated.
In other words, I am coding and modeling the mod as you read this =).
With that said, I am all for suggestions
FAQ
I do not see a download link, is there a problem?
-not at the moment, the mod is still being worked on. chill, have a coffee, read a book, make a cheese cake
Will you add more to the FAQ?
-Yup, just not enough questions to add any more to this
Will you accept models and/or help with the mod
-I will think about it, If you make a model and I feel it is a good fit, I will ask you if I can use it and I will make sure to give you credit for the model, but it is not a guaranty
Ideas and thoughts of stuff to add into the mod

Stuff that is Incorrect that need to be adjusted, thanks all the people that commented brought it to my attention.
1) the head is too big for the body

A little about myself, I am out of school, i have a steady job. and after work i have way too much time on my hands. Thus this mod was born. To get a rough idea of the amount of time I allow to modding, its about a hour or 2 about 3 days a week, and possible Saturday and Sunday if i feel like it.
As my name might hint at, I do have a degree in engineering and I have a tendency to use my knowledge in all areas, like this mod =)

made this change log
added 2 possible ingot types
modeled a rough dragon (that I am not a fan of after the problems with it have been pointed out)
WOW THIS IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been waiting for a mod with dragon that dosent suck! lol! I luv your dragon head model too!! If its ok with you I would like to use your model (and even the entire mod) for inspiration, as I am writing (and illustrating) a fantasy book! Also if you need ideas feel free to ask and i could send you a list or maybe even some pictures! Again, i love your mod, and good luck M8!
Works for me if you want to use any ideas for a book. As I create more of the mod, I will keep updated this page. I am using this page as not only a way to present what I am working on, but also a way to keep me focused. Kind of like a check list =). Also if you have any idea you would like to share, please feel free to present them. I come form the thought that there is no such thing as a bad idea, for any idea could lead to the best solution. Just so you are aware, this is a hobby for me, so it progression is slow at some points, its because real life got in the way.
Thx man! I was just at a bit of a stand-still for creativity; but I think this thread has brought my book back to life!
Anyway what is the whole purpose of the dragons going to be? I know that the dragons from my book are mostly for riding, fighting, and companion purposes. The dragons in my book also shed their scales so that you can smelt them down into a special type of metal that is colored according to the dragon. This Dragon Metal is used to create armor and swords, so you can have really nice tools and things that are the same color as the dragon! I know you were planning on having working dragons as well so maybe Drakes would be a better idea... If your wondering a Drake is a type of dragon without wings, it does not have the ability to breath fire, but it does have very large teeth. It is much smaller (size ranges from about a large Pit Bull to a large Horse) and more muscular as well. I would go into mythology and stuff but that would be a bit too much, so lets just say that in most storied they were used for hunting, fast ground traveling, pulling heavy carts, chasing criminals, and herding sheep and cattle. I apologize for going on like this but, as you can see, Im a real nerd-bag when it comes to dragons. Just bear with me for like 1 more minuet please. There are also wyverns, which are dragons with wings but only two wings, they were usually companions of explorers, because they very easily adjusted to different climates and terrain, they were also used by hunters, scouts and rangers, because they could traverse different terrain and jump over rivers and canyons with ease. And then we have the hydra, a huge dragon without wings, that can have a range of 3 to 100 heads!!! They are not very friendly, and are usually untamable, so if you meet one, your'e probably end up taking a dirt nap. And Last but not Least we have the House Dragon, a normal dragon that is usually kept as a house pet, because of their small size (about a small cat or dog) they are very cuddly and sweet, but they can be very stubborn as well, they have a bad habit of eating your house cat and don't usually apologize for it! And thats all the time we have for today kids! See you next time on: Dragon 101!!!!
Man, I feel like such a geek after that! WOW!! But anyways, I hope it helps! (It better after you probably just spent your whole day reading it! ) Sorry if it was a waste of time . Im a real nerd but i hope my other wise useless and obscure Info helps a little!
My idea of working dragons is to make the stuff that buildcraft, and industrial craft do, but with dragons, well that is the idea as of this moment. The component that i have spent the most time thinking about and plan on implementing first was the forge system. Have a forge that has to be created and you would need to have a dragon next to it to make heat. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! depending on what food you give your dragon will give that dragon different abilities for smelting, IE, one food will allow the dragon to make hotter fire but will make the dragon hungrier faster, while the other food will make the fire not as hot but will last longer. Another idea I was bouncing around in my head is having a dragon/dragons as item transporters/organizers. I think it would be cool to see a bunch of dragons running around .
In terms of the different dragon ideas, I really like that idea, it will allow for a greater verity of dragons and specialization.
For the dragon scales, we might have a slightly different idea. My idea was to have the scales work similar to chain mail, where you can collect the scales and combine them into different sub components of armor, then combine the sub components into armor. For metal i was planing on having if still come form the ground (my knowledge of materials and material science is guiding me down this path). But all this is subject to change as Ideas are presented and stuff changes.
as for the going nerd. i invite all forms of knowledge with open arms. The more you know the more you can draw in to make better and more unique stuff. I myself and a slight nerd, more of the physical sciences than fantasy, but i have a passing interest in fantasy and mythology.
When the mod comes out, as long as people are playing it i will be happy. but i still have to make it. on a good note, I am pretty excited to be working on it so progression on the mod should happen at a decent pace.
Seems awesome if you can do it! Minecraft really needs more dragon mods.
I will be working on it. Lets just say I have a small advantage, after work I really don't do much, so I have some free time. As I have stated before I will keep updating this page as I add more stuff. Right now I am trying to get one dragon modeled and implemented to I can use it as a test platform. and the dragon I have pictures up is going to be the test platform dragon.
Also everyone, what do you think of the test dragon model so far. there is something about it that I am not liking, but I will just keep pushing forward and do minor adjustments as I go along. Shoot me some feedback on the dragon model.
I think the main thing with the model is it's not textured, so when finished I think it'll look a lot better.
The only thing about it that slightly bothers me is the mouth, it's just a rectangle, little weird. But either way it's fine.
Also, how will the dragon riding be? If you can, could you make them be able to roll? I'm using the Dragon Mounts mod right now, and that's one thing that bothers me about it. It's hard to see the ground, so rolling to the side a bit would help a bunch.
But I am definitely looking forward to this mod! Please don't quit making this mod any time soon, minecraft need a real dragon mod made with a lot of care. Most have failed due to loss of motivation, or just being really bad quality. The ones that have been successful, such as Dragon Mounts, are really buggy, and don't have the right dragon-y feel. I think you can do this. Keep on learning that Java, this won't be easy to accomplish.
(Also, are you accepting models or textures from others? I'd like to help if I can!)
I will take a look at the head a little more, and you are right, the fact that there is not texture might just be throwing me off. at this moment i have no intention of stopping. this mod is actually quite fun to make and a nice challenge. In terms of dragon riding abillity, i will get to that. pretty much the order that i am working on this mod is this.
1) make dragon model, 2) get dragon model to move correctly in game as a mod 3) have dragon tamable 4) have dragon be able to interact with a mutiblock structure 5) have mutiblock structure react to dragon 6) get movements for dragon to be correct in interacting with multiblock structure 7) add Santa that shoots lasers out of its eye (my fiance wanted that =P) 8) more dragon coding 1-8) add items, armor, other random stuff that is easyer to make.
In case you can't guess by my name... I love dragons!!
I am very excited about this pack. I am currently looking to start a new world, and would love to use this as my new purpose in MC :-) ... I don't code well enough to mod for u, but I play extensively, have plenty of time, and really enjoy testing and development. So, if you need someone to just play and test your pack, and/or multiplayer, let me know, I'd be happy to help make this the first and best full dragon modpack!! I would REALLY love to play this, LOL
PS... I have been unable to find a working download as of yet, if this is unusual please send me a link, thanx again.

There is no download yet, i am still working on the mod. as soon as i can get something that is functional i plan on setting up a download link. something i have learned is the best way to find bugs is to let many people play it and mess around. but again i need to make it. so keep your pants on =P

What exactly are the multiblock structure interactions? And laser eye Santa xD
What exactly are the multiblock structure interactions? And laser eye Santa xD
That is a great question, my idea is that the black smith area is a mutiblock structure for you to be able to smelt up metals. the dragon itself will be the thing producing heat for the smelting. now the dragon has to be able to interact with the structure to allow the structure to know it has "fuel". also the player would need to be able to interact with the structure to put material into it. now form my research, having a player interact with the structure, no problem. but having a entity interact with a structure, i feel is a little more complex
GuyInJeans, if you read anything, you would know that there are none. He barely started this mod, everything he has written about it hasn't been coded yet.
GuyInJeans, if you read anything, you would know that there are none. He barely started this mod, everything he has written about it hasn't been coded yet.
That is correct, a lot i have not implemented yet. mainly because i subscribe to the idea that if its worth doing, its worth doing correctly. if that means i need to take a little extra time, then i will take a little extra time.
With that said, as soon as i add more, i will add more screen shots.
