Are you using MCPC+? Is the crash client-side or server-side?
That happens with all the infusions, not only boots
What do you mean by "all the infusions" ? Do you literally mean all infusions are causing trouble? Because that would be a Thaumcraft problem. Do you mean all TX infusions are causing trouble? Did you literally test each and every last infusion recipe or are you just generalizing?
Some of your research overlaps with some from Advanced Thaumaturgy- the Talisman of nourishment overlaps with the essential engine, and the eventful urn overlaps with the thaumic fertilizer

To add to this, the Sojourner's Wand Caps overlap with Thaumic History's Cloth caps

The crash is client side, it's not even that much of a crash, it just disconnects the player with an "internal server error" and spits out that log in the server's log file.

he means ALL infusions, no we haven't taken the time to test every single infusion we have, however we've tested infusions from multiple mods including vanilla thaumcraft, Advanced Thaumaturgy, Thaumic Tinkerer, and Thaumic Exploration. Given that no one using just Thaumcraft is reporting this bug it's safe to assume that it's an accident in one of the addons, however no one in the Advanced Thaumaturgy crowd or the Thaumic Tinkerer group is talking about this error either and TT at least has had it's 4.1.0e update out for a while, so it certainly would have popped up.
Now, that said, this DOESN'T mean it's not a cross mod interaction, for instance an interaction between any of the two addons that somehow manages to cause this issue, nor does it mean that this is specifically a Thaumic Exploration issue, however before you fob something off as a "Thaumcraft" issue you should probably look at the Thaumcraft forums first, as doing so would clearly show this issue is not popping up when using just plain thaumcraft or even thaumcraft with several other mods.
All of that said, I am personally using 4.1.0e, and the latest is 4.1.0f, it's possible a code revision has been made that fixes this error which is why most people aren't experiencing it.
Edit: After extensive exploration of the problem it appears to be an issue with Advanced Thaumaturgy 0.0.25, specifically, why it hasn't come up in their thread until now I don't know, however it's pretty clearly not an issue with Thaumcraft itself.

Thanks for the info. I've been getting similar reports from people trying to do infusions in my mod and I have yet to determine what exactly is causing it since all it seems to point to is Thaumcraft and its handling of packets. My suspicion that it had something to do with Thaumcraft's interaction with MCPC+, or that the error was happening for infusion recipes that share a central component, given that the report I got was on a recipe that shares a component with something else, and that most of TX's recipes share components with vanilla or each other. Were you using MCPC+?
How did you determine it was Advanced Thaumaturgy causing the problem? It would make sense for me, since the full report I got was from a modpack including AT in it.
Edit: Saw your post in the AT thread and went ahead and installed AT .25. Was not able to recreate the crash in singleplayer.

Really? How strange, I dissected the entire section of our mod pack that involved Thaumcraft, and in the end tried each and every one alone, and Advanced Thaumaturgy is what was doing it on our end.. I'll do some more testing......
Edit: Wait, which version of Thaumcraft are you using? Because we're using 4.1.0e and if you're using a newer/older version then we should try and sync up our testing in order to determine if the results are the same.
Edit 2: Also, you did have items set on the pedestals right? If there's no recipe present (even a bad one) it doesn't crash, it just does nothing.

I'm using Thaumcraft 4.1.0e as well. Had an infusion altar setup with hoppers refilling each pedestal with the same recipe when I first got the infusion bug report and was able to go through the recipe just fine. Upgraded my AT to 0.25 today and did the infusion again without any issues.
Modlist in my test environment:
Advanced Thaumaturgy 0.0.25
Ars Magica 1.1.2b
Blood Magic 0.7.2b
Botania beta7
Buildcraft 4.2.2
Enchanting Plus 1.16.4
Forbidden Magic (Dev Build)
Natura 2.1.12.2
Player Beacons 1.2.2-28
Thaumcraft 4.1.0e
Thaumic Exploration 0.5.2
Thaumic Tinkerer 2.3-100
Twilight Forest 1.20-3
hmmmm... well I just reconfirmed the test (removed all thaumcraft addons except AT) however it seems that it's not a consistant issue.. which makes me wonder what else is different, I have a lot more mods than you running, however you've got players with the same problem, yet you yourself aren't showing it... so what's different?

People in my thread are saying that upgrading to Thaumcraft 4.1.0f fixed the problem for them, though. o_O
Well that's good, I was putting it off because of the bugs that were cropping up (boots not working right, some functions were off etc) but now that that all appears to be fixed in G I'll probably update to that today or tomorrow.
I mod things. Check me out on twitter or on Espernet IRC at #TheSteamTank
sounds fun when do you think we may get this?
also do u plan on adding taint arrows with the addition of the arrows, i need a way of spreading taint
will your addon be fueled by taint or something because i no likey taint
But seriously, though 10/10 would dowload again
no there are some plants that need taint but i asking for normal tc use i just like some taint
That happens with all the infusions, not only boots
