I have had conversations with Grum, as well as Mr. Moogle in the past.
Long story short: The current methods of implementation will stress Minecraft players who don't have graphics cards, to the point where their performance will suffer to a great extent. In addition, the lighting calculations are a bit of a mess currently, and while they can be duplicated or formatted to allow color calculations to be merged in, the actual lighting process itself is buggy, and prone to black cliffs, and issues like that. Adding color to a broken/not very happy system is likely to be a bad idea, and exacerbate the problems further, or at least make them WAY more noticeable.
I'll see how my engine rewrite goes (if I can ever get back to that today... I'm supposed to re-implement our cauldron patch, and I haven't had any time to sit down yet!).
If I can get that newer engine up and running soon, we might be able to make a little bit of a different argument... maybe... probably not... but it would be worth "knocking on the door again", so to speak.

[quote]Quote from CptSpaceToaster»Well... considering the fact that Cauldron is dead, I can't test this jar. but I think it's what you want... I have no clue honestly.
Someone should get me a cauldron jar so I can properly test that the core loads.
I won't be continuing cauldron support in the future. since 1.7.10 is the last version of cauldron you wont have to work with it again, it will be sponge then.
heres the jar from nodecraft (may not be up instantly due to my low upload speed). they have cauldron as an option for servers im guessing until sponge comes out. also you can get jars here for other versions of vanilla mc

Remove mods 1 by 1 till you find the conflict please, or get me the startup log after leaving the client open and still onscreen. I don't have time to download all of your mods to repeat the problem.
Thanks for the point. It was hard to find a safe version of the cauldron jars. I found a couple of very suspicious installer's that didn't have their MD5's match. I eventually just cloned my forge install, and found the missing libraries, and used a proper server jar that still had a proper md5.
Don't run jar's from unverified sources! The cauldron devs are being very serious when they talk about checking your MD5 sums.
Sorry, ashtreylil, but I couldn't verify the jar you're hosting, as it's filename indicates that it's been updated past the last release from the cauldron devs (someone's probably maintaining the project as a fork somewhere) Thank you for the help though, I appreciate it.
@CptSpaceToaster: Actually, the last official build was Forge 1240. There were official patches released to patch official Cauldron builds, but they got taken down by the developers... out of fear? Generally, cauldron-unofficial has builds up to Forge 1236, and I also know a trusted mirror is on tcpr.ca.
Also, about that crash report... I can replicate it with NO mods installed other than Forge 1272 and ColoredLightsCore 1.2.1 (and 1.2.2). Read more at http://asie.pl/clc-fml.log
EDIT: ColoredLightsCore 1.7.10.01 and Forge 1272 does not have this problem. Testing with all the other mods right now...

I'm running on an older forge install 1180 atm. (and various other builds and servers)

Your just modding singleplayer... right? Not a server?
Something about this seems a bit fishy.
You have a loader messing with several classes, including net.minecraft.client.renderer.Tessellator (which is what I mess with, and what errored). You can see a binary patch being applied to bmh (the obfuscated name for the Tessellator class at this time)
[18:28:55] [main/DEBUG] [FML/]: Runtime patching class bmh (input size 5745), found 1 patch

I have looked and glowstone project seems to be the one that is moving forward with the most speed when it comes to the sponge project, and I for one will quite glad they did, so that no one will be pulling a wolverine (or how ever his handle was spelt) on us again.
I can not wait to leave cauldron behind, but only for that reason. I am quite grateful to the programmers and endless hours they all put into both the cauldron, and MCPC+ projects. I only wish their work did not have to be just thrown away over something that was obviously a temper tantrum, and unjustifiably so, if we are to believe the member of Mojang that posted this.
I will test the new file today. and give a report on what I am seeing. As it is, I have seen progress already from using the changes made so I am more than pleased with the progress, my concerns do not have to be considered most important, if you have time to work on them and can get around to it, I am more than happy even with that. if I don't get to use the mod because of incompatibility for now, again it will be fine, I know eventually I will be updating again (did this one in about a day or so because I could not get hidenames and gliby's voice chat to work on our 1.6.4 modpack so as soon as the mods are out for a future version of minecraft and another server system that supports plugins too, so we can get at least 80% of what we have to run, we can migrate to the new version)
again sorry for any trouble I may have inadvertently caused
never take unfair treatment, if someone is treating you badly, and you can not resolve it, leave, you are better off with out someone in your life that abuses you no matter how they try to invalidate your concerns or feelings. No one has that right, only you get to chose how you feel about something.

No trouble, but once the newer project finally arrive, I'll be happy to get away from the reflection hack that is keeping cauldron alive.
I hope by the way that my pointing out and asking about help was not taken as a demand, but I can see how it might since there are a lot of kids that play with minecraft and some of them have not learned how to not feel so entitled so the throw fits and rage quit and cause trouble when they do not get what they want,
as I may have pointed out, if you never even got around to working on it cause you did not want to even, I would not be assbent over it lol, I would just keep you bookmarked for donations (I don't use Terrafirma for a number of reasons but the project is amazing and so I donate anon from time to time to their project and watch it regularly to see their progress) and to see if it will be compatible with what I am doing as this is quite an important part of the game, that you are effecting, people who say otherwise are basically saying they would be fine with the game being on the level of pong graphics cause what they are saying is the graphics are not important, and we all know that is not so. lol.
here are some photos of the issues to go with the video I sent you, and I am now beginning to realize why this is looking like deja vue, cause these are completely new shapes being added to minecraft as microblocks once were and the light work is glitching the way we had glitching way back when minecraft was still a babe, on things like pistons when they moved or levers or even water when flowing, the only blocks totally not effected by the artifact effects *(getting dark when they should be the color of the light) are the ones that are absolutely not in the game, even as a liquid (the slopes and angled blocks if they were static on the collapsible block are the ones I am talking about, Peaks and runs for single block double sloped blocks are something that is NOwhere in the game lol, so I will talk to Mineshopper as he might be able to do something, if he is not totally done turning over the keys to someone else, either way I will just be patient and when I see something drop a line in hopes that it helps
under normal lighting
and just for good measure
the white thing is a mod add quartz micro block cover, and not vanilla snow or white carpet, just incase that becomes a confusing bit.
oh and just incase those last two pics are some how confusing anyone too, I removed the colored lights mod to take those to show how they should be looking lol. again sorry for the flurry of posts. there seriously is no pressure here. I will use things for what I can while they are under development, and keep my eyes on things like glowstone server project for a way out of this DCMA hell we are all in

Looks like a carpenter's block AO issue, much like there was in the chisel mod. I'm assuming you're on v1.2.2?
yep and unlike the previous thing you posted to this, I can use it on both server and client and it works fine (ie no crashes) so I am plenty happy, and will just keep my eyes on things and talk with mineshopper if I can cause it sounds like this is probably pointing out an issue he needs to address as it probably will cause other issues at some point, same with microblocks from redpower. I just figure they are so busy playing catch up fixing broken code caused by the updates, that they rarely get time to actually develop or refine their code and have forgot about it if they knew about it. By the way were you able to do anything with the file I gave you the link to in PM? or is it one of the ones that looked fishy?

I didn't bother, as I needed a bare-bones cauldron install.

Did you get a chance to test v1.2.2? I'll give it a go in a bit here.
not yet ill test later today
FIRST!:
Moving v1.2.2 to the OP.
These were the two I used: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cauldron-unofficial/files/1.7.10/cauldron-1.7.10-1.1207.01.198-server.jar/download
Libraries: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cauldron-unofficial/files/1.7.10/libraries-1.1207.01.zip/download
Sorry, ashtreylil, but I couldn't verify the jar you're hosting, as it's filename indicates that it's been updated past the last release from the cauldron devs (someone's probably maintaining the project as a fork somewhere) Thank you for the help though, I appreciate it.
EDIT2: Works with all other mods, even BC pipes.

I'm running on an older forge install 1180 atm. (and various other builds and servers)
Something probably got renamed, I'll check soon
Hmmm... I got it to work with 1.2.2 and Forge 1272
Your just modding singleplayer... right? Not a server?
Something about this seems a bit fishy.
You have a loader messing with several classes, including net.minecraft.client.renderer.Tessellator (which is what I mess with, and what errored). You can see a binary patch being applied to bmh (the obfuscated name for the Tessellator class at this time)
I wonder if this is an odd port to linux issue, because I'm testing on windows. Here's my log for comparison
https://gist.githubusercontent.com/CptSpaceToaster/543832bbaaf04d7ae4a7/raw/b1fad48b5d154916a57bcfd297815b0651cb582e/gistfile1.txt
I don't have the binary patch being applied... Did you add a flag to enable runtime deobfuscation? If so, does removing it fix it?

No trouble, but once the newer project finally arrive, I'll be happy to get away from the reflection hack that is keeping cauldron alive.
as I may have pointed out, if you never even got around to working on it cause you did not want to even, I would not be assbent over it lol, I would just keep you bookmarked for donations (I don't use Terrafirma for a number of reasons but the project is amazing and so I donate anon from time to time to their project and watch it regularly to see their progress) and to see if it will be compatible with what I am doing as this is quite an important part of the game, that you are effecting, people who say otherwise are basically saying they would be fine with the game being on the level of pong graphics cause what they are saying is the graphics are not important, and we all know that is not so. lol.
here are some photos of the issues to go with the video I sent you, and I am now beginning to realize why this is looking like deja vue, cause these are completely new shapes being added to minecraft as microblocks once were and the light work is glitching the way we had glitching way back when minecraft was still a babe, on things like pistons when they moved or levers or even water when flowing, the only blocks totally not effected by the artifact effects *(getting dark when they should be the color of the light) are the ones that are absolutely not in the game, even as a liquid (the slopes and angled blocks if they were static on the collapsible block are the ones I am talking about, Peaks and runs for single block double sloped blocks are something that is NOwhere in the game lol, so I will talk to Mineshopper as he might be able to do something, if he is not totally done turning over the keys to someone else, either way I will just be patient and when I see something drop a line in hopes that it helps
under normal lighting
and just for good measure
the white thing is a mod add quartz micro block cover, and not vanilla snow or white carpet, just incase that becomes a confusing bit.

Looks like a carpenter's block AO issue, much like there was in the chisel mod. I'm assuming you're on v1.2.2?

I didn't bother, as I needed a bare-bones cauldron install.
