Herpaderp here comes my lengthy reason for not being active:
I obviously have been busy with other stuff. School mainly. Also, a lot of cool games have been released or have been updated lately, like Starbound and Terraria. Simular games, simular interest. Those games offer so much more at the moment, while minecraft appears to be stuck at this "adding stained glass" kinda update sequence. I'm sorry, but I think Mojang is being lazy. There is so much that can be done with this concept. But yeh, that's just my opinion. I'v also been working on my own game but sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Does that mean that I will quit making mods? Well, I thought about that for the last couple of months and to be honest I can't resist making content for this game.... so I think I will continue. I actually went back here like a month ago to see that they fudged up the entire code by releasing 1.7.2. Soooo my motivation to start on a 1.6.4 release was blown away in an instance knowing that for the 1.7.2 version I had to start from scratch. But now a 1.7.2 forge is there after a long wait and I can try again.
The main reason why I haven't been updating this thread is just that I ....forgot, really. There is no other reason and I apologise for that. You guys/gals are still replying to this thread as if I'm still active and I can hardly believe it. Even so I can hardly get myself to read through all of it due to the disappointment D: Sorry!!
So what are my plans? First I have to learn to script for the new forge which will require me to find some tutorials (if they excist :S) and do some forum research. It will be hard, unless Mojang made everything more mod friendly (which I can't imagine). I have some time for it because of the vacation and an exam week in which I do not have exams :D. I still have to do school work though... Anyway, after that I just have to get a base class for every kind of mob. Like mammel, bird, fish etc. Then I can just inherit tons of behaviour from that when I want to add new creatures. This is probably the hardest step. THEN, I can start making mobs. Over the years I've developed a standard for my mobs so I want: working animations, baby forms, extra functionaility for every creature, a drop table ,etc.
Finally, a disclaimer: If it turns out to be too much work, then it will either result into a small mod or no mod. If people want to help me with coding then that would be much appreciated, but please don't come with models and textures I have loads of those lying around thanks to my old friend Gibea.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day! Now I will go through your sad comments D:
EDIT: Ok so forge is still a WIP but I can at least orientate a little bit already. A 1.6.4 release is just too much work and will be wasted effort in about a month. Don't expect one.
I'm so glad to hear you're back. Don't feel bad about not being active; we all need breaks once and a while. May I suggest TheHippoMaster21's Animation API for creating your animations? You mention your high standards, and this framework would make meeting them much easier.
I can see why you got distracted from modding, especially when those two games are involved...
Welcome back! I saw your old terraria mod while you were inactive, It was going to be awesome!
Good luck learning 1.7 forge, I'm sure it will be tough!

I have a new account called "Mushroomsock" now, so please do not send me PMs.
Hey Davey, glad you are back and thinking about doing a 1.7 version.
In the meantime, would you have any objections is someone else, maybe Mushroomsock, does a quick and dirty update of the old 1.4.7 version to 1.5.2 for you? Or even 1.6?
Go ahead. I have to warn him though, that it's very odd code Although everyone says that about their old code I guess. Good luck to him!
Here are my suggestions for the base classes for bird, fish, and land creature:
Bird:
Should exhibit their old behaviour
Smaller birds should often fly to a higher point, like a tree
Should move to trees and collect sticks to make a nest to lay their eggs in
If you take the eggs, then the birds "turn red"
Birds like seagulls and pelicans should tolerate water
WaterMob:
Should exhibit their old behaviour
Should know how to swim up waterfalls
WaterMobs like whales and flying fish should sometimes jump out of the water and land back in
Should be easily fished out of the water with a fishing pole
Land Creature:
Should exhibit their old behaviour
Should go to sleep on their favourite block
Hostile mobs should only attack if you are 5 blocks within their range
Should sometimes decide to feed
Smaller land creatures should be capable of climbing blocks
How are my suggestions?
EDIT: I also made a snake, scorpion, and penguin model for your mod!
Not a request for any particular time, but please don't skip 1.6 entirely- I finally have _almost_ all the mods I like working on one version, and having this would make it perfect. Then I can wait on 1.6 for all the mod stars to align again in some future version. :-) A port of the 1.4.7 version would be just dandy, no need for a bunch of extra work when I know it's going to be huge updating for 1.7.
YAY! Are you sticking with the same plan as last time? Releasing the fox and butterflies in the first update?
I'm going to learn the new code first. I always do this using a test mod. Last time this was Primitive Mobs so I will stick with that. I want to learn more things before I fully start on this mod to get the most out of it. For example GUI and block generation. I have no idea how to do those. Don't worry though. I will get to the butterfly and fox as soon as I'm back at my regular mob-coding level. After that I will see if I can learn some new code. Sadly it might all be for nothing when the 1.7 forge is stable..... ah well...

Please, please consider making a 1.6.4 build. So many mods seem to be aligned at 1.6.4...

USE SPOILERS PLEASE!
I decided to start on 1.6.4 anyway. The 1.7.2 forge is still too unstable at the moment.
