Doffen, that helper has actually been on my branch for some time now. Surprised you didn't find it earlier. Just to make sure others know: if you place tracks in third-person there's a hologram that appears directly under you. It's not exactly where the track will be placed, but it comes in handy when planning curves. Soccerguy, that might be a bit of help for you when working with those curved sections.
As far as connections go, you need to click on the center of the train, not the ends. There's a Minecraft limitation at work there, so it's not a quick fix. If you're having troubles finding the spot you can press F3+B to show the hitboxes. Also, aim towards the top. The hitbox extends to about the top of the cab, so you can aim up and still hit the box without having to worry about missing and hitting a rail.
Train sound distortions and the inability to enter stock are somewhat related. The sound issue is due game lag and probably won't be an easy fix. Stock mounting issues happen when the stock gets out-of-sync with the sever. I've had a couple of instances where I could get in the cab of the train but not a boxcar.

Well, I never build anything in third person, so that is proberly the reason. Just figured it out now by a coincidense. But good job!

Thank you Don for your reply . Is it possible , to make a tutorial map using the adventure features of minecraft , to help kids learn how to create and use the mod in adventure mode. Using minecraft books and chests and examples , a child can login to a tutorial map and run through each of the inventory items and learn from both the examples , reading the books at each item station in the Adventure map . I think by reaching the end of such a tutorial , kids will have a better understanding of the mechanics . An Adventure Map , posted on the opening page , will go along way , in teaching how ROW works .

Hmm, I don't see why not. I've made a tutorial map for an electrical simulation mod, so trains can't be any harder than that.

The interesting thing on it is, that the error appears over time. Yesterday I played my world, but I was not able to spawn an locomotive. Now I can't spawn any rolling stock. I tryed a SSW and a flat bed, both produces the error.
I will test the next days, if the root of that is an other mod.
EDIT: The map is an old one, before the new ROW was installed, I used Don's version 5.5.2.
I hope, that you can help me and greetings from germany.

Oh, no no no. That's not a graphics error. That's a Java error. Hence the:
java.lang.NullPointerException: Ticking memory connection
at net.row.item.ItemRollingStock.func_77648_a(ItemRollingStock.java:96)
Best I can tell, you're spawning a train onto a rail that doesn't have a Tile Entity associated with it in the internal RoW track mapping system. Have you re-placed all of your track that was paced before my branch? Try removing all the track in the section that you're getting errors placing the locomotive on and placing it fresh. Should fix your issue.
Difficult to plan tracks (curved tracks hard to connect)
Hitboxes for connecting trains needed numerous tries to find , resulting in breaking the tracks
The sound becomes more distorted the faster the train goes
Kids are going to find it hard to use in current state , i had to figure it out to help them
Well, I have some idea on track planning, until that you can use Don's ghost track feature.
When the multi-entity system is up and debugged, the issue with coupling cars will be extinguished, but I experience some troubles with working the thing out yet.
Sounds distort and mounting is not possible due to stock desync. We have worked on the issue, but well, looks like it's not enough...
Thing is, this is not a mod for kids. I intend the mod for people who can figure things out less or more by themselves (railway is not a simple thing, you know), railway fans basically. If twitter analytics is trusted source, more than half of my audience is of full age:
I'm not aiming for this in any way:
I hope you'll be able to teach your kids how to use things.
A nice update to the locomotives. Its a bit harder to use at first, espesially the Ov, but with a bit of practise I supose it will go just fine. I found one problem though. If you leave a locomotive, and then tries to get back in, it sometimes won't let you do so. You cant enter any stock, and have to exit and re-enter the world, wich can be a problem if you have a train running.
Thanks. And what about mounting — it happens due to desync. I think of adding another button like that stock remover, but for syncing.

My downloadable map is now updated with a new savefile using the new tracks. It is once again useable with the newest version of Rails of War, where a long journey awaits with the improwed locomotives.
Sorry in advance, because I know how much you hate to be bugged about rolling stock, but is the E type 0-10-0 steam locomotive going to be added? Also, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful mod named Rails of war.
thanks!

Been a long while since I posted but I found a bug that you may want to look into, no log or anything just something I experienced.
Rolling stock which is spawned, or left on a grade crossing with spawn facing East/West. This is also the case if you exit the game with rolling stock on a grade crossing, when reloading the game it seems to spawn it facing East/West as well. Nothing too game ending but it did catch me off guard.
Also, love the most recent update Naiten. I have been thrown into overtime working on a bit of a timelapse video inspired by an old video test I did with your mod, two years ago.
Today is a new chapter for my map, once again. I started on a new project a while ago, the one I have posted a few pictures of a few pages back. Some more work have been done to the map, but most importiantly: It is now up for download for those who wish to use it. It is not a seperate world from the other downloadable map I have out there, oh no. I have merged the two worlds together, and it turned out quite ok actually, with a bridge connecting them together. The map is now longer and better then ever, with the main line growing so it connects to a whole new town, where a new railwayline begins, bringing your adventure forther down the line, with new towns to visit.
I did travel the whole distance with a Yer yesterday, and only the Yer. No waggons, no stopping at stations, no switching or turning the locomotive (as you have to do when comming from one line, and will go on the next one, unless you want to go backwards the whole way), just running from one end to the other. It took me 27 minutes to do so. So when you normally will stop at stations, refill coal, switch locomotives, couple/uncouple carts and so on, it will take you a while to go from one end to the other.
I thought I had a picture of the bridge, but I could not find it. So this have to do instead.
This was made with the original RoW mod, so if you use Don's branch, you might have some problems. Atleast last time I tried out his branch, I had to replace every single rail on the map I used it on. If this is still a problem with the mod, then you have been warned. I don't have a copy of the map using Don's branch yet.
The ROW map you created was a fantastic gift . My kids say thank you . I hope you keep updating it

For those of you with ROWAM troubles, I've just gotten around to updating. Should fix the fuel block crashing and a few de-sync issues. More here.

Hey uhh, soccerperson. You should be using a function called multi-quoting. Double-posting and triple-posting isn't allowed because it causes spam.

Did you read the first post?
Does anyone with 1 post read the OP? No of course not, why ask?
It is the first thing that comes up
