hey, I was wondering, would you add brigs to the mod, they are similar to the frigate, and are commonly used by pirates, plus could you add names to your ship, like a sign on the back of the hoe? and bigger ships? plus I have an idea for the speed of the ships, more speed, more sails. .
I know weve discussed the whole "transporting animals via a small boat", seeing the hoy in action with deck walking made me think a bit more about this.
The deck walking was pretty good i reckon, i wish i hadnt said anything about the perspective now.
Since we currently right click on the hoy to get aboard, maybe an animal that is ona leash will be "teleported" onto the vessel along with you ? There is a leash in vanilla now (thanks dr zhark). That in my mind makes the most sense leashed anmals can be lashed to fence posts so maybe 1 or 2 sensibly placed leash posts on the deck would be good.
I would say here if you do use this method could you possibly makeit compatible with MC 1.5.2 mo creatures rope (non vanilla leash) and with luck it would be easy to do this as well as MCs leash. However I suppose without a deck walking/advanced hoy theres not a lot of point.
Ive been playing some more with ancient warfares civics systems. I like it a lot. It seems very powerful and lightweight for what it is.
My understanding is that its still being heavily worked on but its dammned impressive for a wip.
Im trying to help with the ancient warfare wiki as I think the wiki needs a lot of work, the civic system is brand new and not enough people are aware of it or are using it. Id quite like to help in a way that I can be useful. I have big hopes about where this mod will go in the future. Its certainnly added a lot over the course of its development.
The bibliocraft author likes your mod. I mentioned the idea about a helmsman map based ship movement. Hes planning on doing a desk that can display an actual map and its contents when its placed on the desk. It seemed like in my mind what hes doing might at least provide an aesthetic interface point for whatever you write when you get round to it.
On a downside, I tested the latest snapshot (1.7 partial ?) for the new biomes and a few other things.

Theres a lot of discussion about this.
Im hoping EBXl V4 lands soon and gives us control over this. Otherwise it will possibly be a lot of work trying to utilise various tools to ensure a good world gen.
I suppose if this is a problem as it appears to me there will be little point in a rapid transition to 1.7 for small boats.
I hope im wrong about the oceans because as I said I want to use the hoy for coastal journeys, collecting animals and trading/moving large amounts of good.

I saw a new biome called deep ocean in 13w39b and it was BIG, AND DEEP, so they changed that.

Anyway, I have an idea for the "get animals on bord" problem. Probably very awkward, but how about an "Quartermaster" item. (QM-stick, QM-whistle, QM-leash or something as such), which can be clicked on an animal, then clicked on a ship. The last animal clicked on will board the ship if it is possible (ship can harbour animals and has enough space left, animal is in range etc...). This of course would require an item to put animals into the ships, but it would avoid trying to lure or push the animals back and forth to try and get them on board )

Though more then likely having leashed animals or freely walking animals on the ship(s) won't be feasible they will need to be stored on the boat via MBT data, besides animals were normally stored in the hulls of the ships anywho! (They would be in the way on the deck, not to mention who wants to step in and slide on animal poo)
Only thing I can think of off hand to suggest that you aren't already working on.. Is perhaps a landing plank so we aren't jumping into the water.
In creative mode the ships die with one hit from any weapon. Is this just something thing that just happen in creative or do the ship have very little life. If they have only a little life could, you please make it 100 or 300 please depending on the size of the boat.

That is just creative, you can one hit anything almost in that mode and it will break.
hey, I have four great ideas.
1. when it comes to bigger ships, they have more sails and when you speed up, the sails unfold and catch the wind, and then the ship slows down, the sails are folded up. (if you don't know what I mean, look at assassin's creed 4)
2. anchors, when a ship is docked, it usually has 2-4 anchors released and keeps the ship from drifting, or stolen.
3. Flags, you should make some kind of flag block that will allow you to design your own flag, or allows you to open your computer files to choose a picture.
4. decorating, you can get your ships of all sizes to be decorated by putting the ship in a decorating block and personalize your ships and can be easier to separate.
Forgive me if this has been suggested before, but 60 pages is a bit daunting. Would a ridiculously larger ship, say an Ark (biblical style) that could transport multiple animals, people, and with multiple rooms be a possibility?
Yes. I expect there is an upper limit to the size and complexity of the ships (based on entity count) but I've been surprised at how well things have scaled so far.

Feasible yes, advisable no. And walking on deck is not the same as being stored below.
I've been testing the barge with pigs... they can walk around, but have a tendency to fall off. Point being, if a pig can walk on it, then a creeper can, too. Suggests some interesting possibilities...

I had a thought about this: either railcraft or traincraft use a device connected to a script which loads chunks as the train entities pass through them. The train keeps the chunk it occupies loaded; forget to do that, and things get pretty messed up. Would it be possible to set the boats to keep the chunk they occupy loaded? I realize that if you had a ton of these boats on a server, that could produce some potential issues, but I have been surprised at how well the program seems to cope with multiple boats in this mod. Just a thought.... no idea how to implement it.

Was the Hoy completely motionless, or did it still bob and splash? If it was completely motionless it was probably still waiting on child entities, and should have deleted/recreated itself after about 20secs.
yeah awger, the stress of work, then people who want u to fix, adjust, or add things to ur mod must make it worse. im glad u have patience with us Besides medevil ships maybe you should check out some ancient greek ships too. Like the monoremem bireme and trireme. monoreme is spelled wrong so you will have to find how its correctly spelled. These are some pretty big ships thou, mostly the trireme. love ur mod!!!!! cant wait until its updated for 1.7.2 =D

Not really necessary, all the boats have an anchor which deploys automagically when you jump out.

Yes, that's a problem. There are several invisible entities in the Hoy, and you can't shoot through them right now.
