Summarization: The Walking dead mod is based and modelled after the TV series and video game The Walking Dead. In this mod, all of Minecraft has changed, you must rely on you instincts and full thought out techniques to survive. You are a survivor in a zombie apocalipse who must gather food, weapons, find shelter, and groups and no mater what DO NOT GET INFECTED.
My more personal view of this mod, is that it is not a addition to Minecraft, it is more like creating a new game, using Minecraft's engine. A good example of this is, the DayZ mod for Arma 2 was essentially a zombie game of it's own, it just used Arma 2's engine and graphics for it's base. Though i am comparing it to the DayZ mod, the gameplay will be completely different, there already a version of DayZ in minecraft.

11/28/12: This mod is in raw alpha. I have striped mineraft to almost it's pure engine and "re-invented" the zombie. I have added a few weapons, and made head-shots instant kills with some of those weapons.
11/29/12 Items that are of type sword(aka: if they have a blade) will now be an instant kill when aimed at the head of a zombie. If the player is aiming at the zombie's head then they will deal more damage.
11/30/12 Added new survivor entities that will soon be interact able, and able to either kill you, join your group, or let you join their group. Zombies now have a 1 in 5 chance of infecting you when they hit you. when you are infected, you will get the dizziness effect that will increase over time, after around a minute you will become hungry and slow, after 1 minute and a half you will have a chance of passing out, and at 2 minutes, you will slowly take damage until you die!
12/05/12 YES! I finally got randomly generating towns working!!
12/09/12 The past 3 days i was moving into my new apartment, so i haven't been able to work, but now i have finished the first generated house in the town!
12/14/12 I have added some uselessbut decorative items, like sinks, ovens, and normal house furnishings, just to make the gameplay feel more personal.
12/16/12 Writing the code for the villages, is a lot harder than i originally thought. I am not saying that i will give up on them, but it might not be worth spending the time on them, when i can work on more essential parts of the mod. I will still work on them, but they might not be implemented into the alpha release :/ .
12/26/12 My Christmas 'vacation' is over now, so i will be back to updating this page regularly!
12/28/12 I have added fire pits, they will generate in the centre of survivor's campsites(which i haven't added yet). You light them with a flint and steal, they last 2 minutes if you don't add more sticks for fuel. You can only add fuel when the fire is not at it's max size. Each time you add fuel, 1 minute will be added to the duration of the fire. Note that zombies can sea you from a further distance when you have a fire.

-NPC survivors, with different back stories, with chat options
-different sounds and skins for different types of zombies
-new vehicles(helicopters, tanks, cars ect.) not all will be usable. -small towns with different houses, cities, highways
-a whole manner of more zombie killin' fire power!
Installation: At this point in it's development, this mod intalls like most other mods do, i may implement a auto installer in the future;
Mac: -force update minecraft -go to finder/user/Application Support/minecraft/bin -right click on minecraft.jar and un-archive it(with The Unarchive or Archive Utility)
-download the mod and open the main folder
-copy and paste all of the files from the mod folder into the recently un-archived minecraft.jar folder -DELETE THE META-INF FOLDER!
-run minecraft and survive!
PC:
-force update minecraft
-got to start - run and type %appdata%
-select the .mineraft folder
-in the minecraft folder go to bin, right click on minecraft.jar and select open with > winrar(or any other un-archiver you have)
-download the mod and open the main folder
-copy and paste all of the files from the mod folder into the recently un-archived minecraft.jar folder -DELETE THE META-INF FOLDER!
-run minecraft and survive.

Please note that Telltale's The Walking Dead is based on the same universe as the comics while the TV show is in a totally different universe. So this mod can't be moddled after the TV series AND the video game. (whatever "moddled" means o.o) (maybe you meant "modeled"? lol)
@Tearfalas Oh wow i didn't even notice that spelling mistake, lol! but as for the tv show, it actually is following the comics story almost to a tee, all the characters are the same and all the plots are the same. telltales the walking dead game is actually in the same universe as the tv show, if you have played it or seen a full gameplay of it, you would remember that Glen actually tagged along with Lee and the gang in i think the second episode of the game. i suppose that the only confusion would be that telltale's walking dead is a cartoon with the similar art style as the comic, and the tv show is live action. but it is all still the walking dead, and if the game has something that the comic or the tv show doesn't have, or vice versa, it will still be included in my mod.
one more thing i would like to note, is that the tv show, is more an adaptation of the comics, but it is still respectively in the same universe and the game and the comics. and the game is a new storyline added to the walking dead lore, so it is hard to say which universe it is in.

Erm, to a tee? 75% of the TV Show storyline is different from the comics. I don't think you ever read the comics to say that. I could list everything thats different but i don't wanna give spoilers.

@tearfalas perhaps my sources are wrong then... but my mod is implementing things from the show, comics and game, so it doesn't matter where they come from. also it's not really the right forum to discuss walking dead lore. also thank you for the suggestion

yes, perhaps i should have explained their use more. there are going to be natural generating towns, and cities, and those to houses plus maybe a few more, will be part of the generation. i will also make different community buildings, like churches, schools, libraries, shops...
and since they generate will a slight random factor, each town will be unique!
So, you are having each map be different? Nice. Just make sure the towns don't generate like vanilla villages do sometimes. sticking into hills and floating above lakes.
@Kelilrocks123, i will try, but their is not much i can do about that. that method is handled in the minecraft engine, but i think mojang has fixed it anyway.
