i know, he just gave us the middle finger by 1- discontinouing a great weapon mod and leaving us with not-so-useful alternatives (seriously.) 2- giving them good and awesome weapons to npc's and leaving us with the useless sword, AND 3 Ruining the only mod that made minecraft combat better. Dont get me wrong. This mod is awesome (especially with the invasion mod) but still, im going to go learn java coding and make some sort of private mod that does kinda the same.

If you are really feeling adventurous, go to the github for my mod (just google Mine and blade commander github) Go into the gimp images and download the one for the knight. With a bit of Know-how in Gimp you can easily customise the knight to your liking
Gimp is probably the pic editor i use the most, i even make some skins with it! thx might as well make a knight skin of my own and use it as my skin, Maybe then ill get the weapons! lol
i don't think people understand the way battlegear was coded makes it impossible to be updated beyond 1.2.5; a total remake would be the only solution(requiring a lot of experience in the field that probably only nerd has)

The source will be avaliable soon on Lenatir's Mod Orphanage (Don't pester him, I believe he is currently away). Battlegear is not really updateable, it would more or less require a entire rewrite and really should not be taken up by someone looking at making their introduction to Java. It really does require some quite advanced techniques (eg ASM) to do right.

No, the point of the different weapons is so you don't have 100 soldiers that all look exactly the same. There are really too many weapons now for me to think up mechanics and balance properly. The different "classess" themselves should provide enough variety mechanic wise.

the best soldier is the knight, maybe you can do some dragon knights later, a special knight class, you can "feed" a dragon egg to the knight and maybe a dragon knight, knight riding a dragon, has to be open though, i am not good at modding, so maybe, you can do that to knights, sellswords, pikemen, or if you come out with mounted soldiers, you can do that, they can fly like the enderdragon, but with the soldier on it,maybe? or they can be like dragonborn like skyrim, higher streangth, the sort, with red eyes?

See what I like about how the 3rd tier is set up there is no "best" unit. Against default mobs the Knight does have an edge because of the high armour, however against those with higher armour values the Sellsword has an edge. I also plan on adding a different bonus for the spear/pikeman to give them more of a niche.

I agree, and don't have any problem with people making addons (it's one of the reasons the source is publicly avliable) just as long as people don't complain if I break thier add on by adding new stuff (so it would be best to hold off for a bit)

I would put it about as laissez-faire as you could possibly get. There is no defined way (yet) the source code for the mod is freely avliable at git hub (and always has been). I am not going to stop anyone from downloading it and adding stuff if they want (and then even releasing their creation) I also hope they will not get upset if I decide to add similar features later on. But at the same time I am not going to worry about breaking others creations when creating new things.
Basically I don't feel I should dictate how people should enjoy my work, if they have more fun coding/editing (like i do) why should I try and stop them

Yes, it should. The vMC weapons, like the iron swords, are taken from the vMC texture sheet, so a texture pack would change them. The M&B weapons come from their own sheet of course, but it would be pretty easy to change it to make the weapons fit with a given texture pack.

I just had an amazing thought- If tekkit is ever updated, this mod would be amazing for it! tekkit adds things that do almost everything automatically for you. But nothing that really FIGHTS for you, which is why commander would fit in so well.
I'd say that this should be it's own mod, rather than in a huge mod-pack, where it might not fit in that well. I mean, it would be nice to see some other mods mixed in, but I'm not sure it should be in Tekkit where it's more industriale but, hey! you never know!
