So, how large will the explosions be for the weapons? I mean, all except maybe the MG will probably cause some sort of detonation.
AutoCannon: About half-creeper.
Flamers: None, but set stuff on fire. (D'oh!)
Gauss: None
Lasers: None
MG: None
Missiles: Between Creeper and TNT for each charge. Haven't decided.
PPC: None, but causes fires and destroys the block it hits, excluding bedrock. (at least, that's my plan.)
Or, maybe even have it so mech parts are blocks, and you build it in the real world! Like Snow Golems!
I was designing a mod once (on paper) that was very similar to that. I, too, thought that it would be the most awesome way to build vehicles (in this case, it was construction equipment, like bulldozers and stuff). Totally design your mod like this. I mean it! :cool.gif:
Can the infrantry get some sort of defense against mechs? Like maybe a heat ray to overheat weapons that uses lava buckets as fuel, and a cooling ray that uses up ice blocks to help friendly mechs (the ice blocks can be acquired by putting a bucket of water into a freezer block maybe?) Doing this would give infrantry a purpose in the mod, allowing them to help out. The freeze ray should also be made so that it doesn't work as the mech is shooting, to stop bullet spamming.
Infantry would have all of the same weapons as 'mechs, but they would be considerably weaker. We could maybe add a coolant pump (Aim at friendly 'mech and shoot coolant at it.) that the player could carry. Either it would have a very limited lifespan, similar to wood or gold tools, or it would have to use coolant tanks, which would be expensive to craft. These tanks would work similar to the clips in Flans WWII guns mod.
Finally, the difference in 'mech firing speed would be small. Example: PPC could only be fired once every 15 seconds normally. With coolant, once every 10 seconds.

Well, a friend came up wwith the idea of a "hacker claw", that when you stab a mech with it, it ejects the rider of the mech.
What are they...Battle Suits? Something like that.
The only things I know about MechWarrior and BattleTech was from a MechWarrior DS game, and I remember something like that from it.
Quote from BattleTech: A Time Of War: Quick Start Rules »
"You may do battle as a MechWarrior, the pilot of a one-man avatar of walking death—or as a high-flying aerospace fighter jock. You may be the covert operative, skulking in the shadows, armed only with your wits and an untraceable sniper rifle—or a death-defying battlesuit pilot, braving instant death long enough to close in on an enemy ’Mech and tear it open with your armored claws."
Yes, this would completely work. However, we need to draw the line somewhere and actually get a mod out there. Perhaps we can flesh it out in future updates.

So far, Oblivimancer has (almost) finished a turret, and I'm trying to get a working mech, but running into 21 errors. Time for a coding marathon, again!
Lasers are actually pretty common in the BattleTech Universe, so maybe the Ender Pearls should only be used in the pulse laser recipes, with regular lasers using glass.* Aside from that...
YES. That is awesome. We'll see if we can get those implemented.
*yes, I did say that I thought ender pearls and lasers were a good idea. I just happened to forget how rare they were.
Hmmmmm, I just thought of something, if these parts use such a large grid, they wont show up in the recipe book mod, which may discourage some players. Perhaps have a spoiler section in the original post with all the crafting ideas, like flans planes?
i think its gonna be so in the official release of the mod
also Alternate lives, this is just a suggestion maybe make factions an add on mod similiar to buildcraft, redpower, and some others
HOLY S***! MINE WERE GONNA BE 6 BLOCKS! Okay, that's now TWO major differences in our mods. Mine is 6 blcks, yours is 15. Yours is BattleTech based, mine has totally customizeable mechs. Hmph! Interesting...

Granted, the MadCat is a heavy 'Mech. Light 'Mechs would be closer to 8-10 blocks tall.

The PPCannon sounds like fun. :biggrin.gif:

Hopefully, it can be any kind of turret you want. It is also automatic.
are these good for a start for parts?

yes, exactly, if its possible and not a massive pain to code
also how big approximately would the mechs be?
1. Having separate .zips may not be a bad idea...
2. The 'mech's would be close to scale. A MadCat, being 15 meters tall, would be 15 blocks tall.

Not helicopters per se, but VTOL aircraft, which is very similar.
