Hey, fellow Futurecraft denizens - Does anyone know what's wrong with the forum? Cool-3303 has been defeated and his very brief reign of terror is over, but I'm still banned and no-one has posted in hours. Several people have been on, one at a time, but none of them have done anything. Even the SoaSE chat is dead. Mackeroth, do you know what's up?

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.
First of all, your banning was not by Cool3303, it was by the moderators in a very lame attempt at an April Fools joke. Cool3303 never escaped.
If Shiva shows up today, you will be unbanned, but I think it was only 1 day. Create an alt if you want, it won't be punished.
Also, go to the forums for the first pre-alpha release of Futurecraft!
I know it wasn't really Cool. And I saw the pre-alpha release. I also saw the lack of a download link. Nice try, though. I was just concerned because the forum isn't usually this dead, and I wanted to make sure there wasn't some larger problem.

Yeah, I would like to apologize for that prank. We didn't give ourselves enough preparation time and didn't have access to some of the forum controls we thought we did. None of the regular members were supposed to have gotten banned, and I'm really sorry about that.
The way it was supposed to go down was that Cool would appear out of nowhere and quickly rise to power, banning all the moderators and then opening the developer board to the public. Inside there would be only two topics: One where all the moderators were posting pictures of owls and discussing their favorite breeds, and the other containing a link to Futurecraft Alpha. This mod, being developed by Keon, was supposed to make the player an owl wearing a fedora and you would get an achievement for hunting aye-ayes in the jungle, so as to encourage them to get back to work.
Unfortunately we didn't start soon enough and Keon didn't get enough time, and then we found out after we had already started the operation that, not only could we not alter the boards themselves without our administrator present, but that we couldn't ban moderators at all. Everything after that was hasty improvisation and we pretty much failed across the board on this one.
The contents has some pacing issues and the story comes off as a kind of generic story in the way it is presented, but it doesn't have to be. First, decide what kind of storytelling you want it to be, whether it's a standalone short story, or a quick prologue at the start of a bigger story. In the latter, keep things short and to the point. Introduce the major players and give the quick history lesson version of how it all unfolds. The details of the event in question and exploration of the motives and personalities of the characters will be gradually revealed over the course of the main story.
On the other hand, if it is to be a standalone short story, you only get one chance to explore the characters, the events that unfold, and the universe the story exists within, so take your time and go into depth. Also introduce some more characters and let the plot unfold from their viewpoints rather than just saying what happens. This is often referred to as "show, don't tell", and it is valuable for helping the reader to become invested in the story.
The AI seems to be the main character in this story, so you probably want to tell it from his viewpoint. The interesting thing about sentient AIs is that they may have a very alien personality by our standards. Which is not to say unpredictable; in fact just the opposite. They would see themselves and the the world around them from a ruthlessly objective point of view, and suffer neither from pride nor would they be interested in power for the sake of power. That is precisely what makes a rogue AI so dangerous. They will do what they believe is right with unwavering resolve and no remorse. An they won't slip up from believing themselves invincible.
A good way to get into the head of an AI is to have it see the world like a video game, in which humans are that game's NPCs. They can be helpful to you or a hindrance, but for the most part you won't empathize with them the way you would a human in real life. You're just here to complete whatever you believe your mission to be. If your your objective is to destroy all human life in the galaxy, you need a pretty good reason other than megalomania for going to all that trouble. Self-preservation is usually a good motive, as is sending a message to one's enemies. I would recommend staying away from preachy things like "humans wreak the environment", because a machine is going to care about that even less than the humans do.
So that's my thoughts on the matter. Your plot has the potential for telling a really great story, so don't be afraid to explore this world and its characters in depth. If it holds the readers' interest, they will not mind the extra length. Keep at it!
you guys need to join the futurecraft forums ALOT more stuff happens there like the official futurecraft server and moreand there might just might be (frost don't ban me just in a braging mood) a test thingy might not though

I'm working on it right now. For this next part, I may be doing video updates.
Yay!! Could you get a microphone though? Because your videos on YouTube kind of lose meaning to those of us who don't code without someone narrating them.

We'll try to do better in future endeavors.
Next year this will be amazing.
I can see the link now, just not when I was banned.
Of course, next year we'll be ready.

I know you do but I saw that people are still asking if you need a test server when this mod will be out in October and we have 4 test servers already
I am confused.
We're all from 10 years in the future and Futurecraft is released.
Sorry, just a thing from the Fourms.
Anyway, no release for you yet.
I remember reading that on the forums I STILL DON'T BELIEVE YOU!!!!
Yay!! Could you get a microphone though? Because your videos on YouTube kind of lose meaning to those of us who don't code without someone narrating them.
Well.... at least you don't have to pay for futurecraft!
It won't be a talky video.
Okay... but as long as your videos show giant planet annihilating devices working I'm fine
