Hello everyone! I'm new to modding and new to these forums, so excuse me if I get anything wrong.
This is sort of my mod, solid sand, I've just been changing it however I can that seems fit.
The only two things that really mean anything is skeletons dropping bows, and 5x the amount of TNT.
So here are the changes:
4 sandstone makes sponge
skeletons have 10% chance of dropping a bow
glowstone drops 4 glowstone dust (instead of 3-4)
TNT is crafted into 5
coal ore drops 2 coal
Made 3 more achievements, all having to do with tools
If you don't know what to do with the .zip click 'Show Spoiler'
for Windows:
Go to the Start menu, click 'run'(Windows XP) or search for 'run' and click that (windows Vista or 7)
type %appdata% and press enter
Open the folder .minecraft (you need to have played the game at least once)
Open the folder 'bin'
Extract minecraft.jar and minecraft.zip
put the classes and 'lang' folder from minecraft.zip into minecraft.jar and delete META-INF
Run the game!
for Mac:
Open finder
Click [your name] on the left
Click library, then application support, then minecraft
Open bin, right click minecraft.jar, and open with archive utility
un-zip minecraft.zip and put the classes and 'lang' folder into the newly created folder (from minecraft.jar), then delete META-INF
To turn folder into a .jar properly, click one of the classes and go Command+A to select everything
Right one of the classes and select 'Compress [830 or so] files'
Find 'Archive.zip' and drag it into the bin folder
Delete minecraft.jar, and rename archive.zip to minecraft.jar
You can delete the minecraft folder inside bin. Don't delete the minecraft folder inside application support!
Run the game!

Story of the name (Solid Sand)
Being my first mod, I had just downloaded and installed MCP and was looking through the various classes. I think I saw the 'recipeCrafting.JAVA'(I think that's what it was called), and decided to test this out. I copy-pasted the code and changed sand to sandstone, and sandstone to obsidian, So I decided to call the mod 'Hard Sand'.
After a while modding I decided it would be way too easy to go to the nether, so I changed to recipe to make sponges instead. And sponges aren't hard (they're soft and squishy) but it's still 16 pieces of sand to make one, so I changed the name to 'Solid Sand'
So I can't really code much, seeing as I can't really code, and that's why this isn't a huge mod. I'm just messing with the code in whatever way I think might be interesting, and posting the result here.
And as I'm new to these forums, I've seen one of the pinned posts that says to get a copyright thing (it probably isn't important but I got a copyright thing anyway), but I don't know how to embed stuff...
Anyone look at this and know why they didn't want it? Not enough stuff in the mod, so not worth downloading, or was there anything I could have done to this post to make it any better?
Just want to know what I should change for future mods.
Downloading really helpful oh and oxysoft stop being a douche this is his first mod and far mor helpful than alot of other first mods you did a good job on this i plan to see more of you in the future
Nobody is downloading it because it has been done a billion of time.
now, i'm gonna ask you, 2 question. Hopefully you can answer without looking on google.
1. Whats a boolean?
2. Explain the for loop
if you can't explain any of those 2, quit modding and go read a java book. Modding is the art of scripting and knowing the language.
This is a bit of a slow response, (I didn't google it)
1. A Boolean is a true/false value (I know that from actionscript though)
2. Well, I haven't really seen the for loop before looking through some of the code in Minecraft, but it appears to be like 'if x is lower than this number, run the code, and add one to x', but I'm not fully sure

Ohh, two downloads! That's nice to know that it's more than the average first mod too.
And I'm not surprised it's been done "a billion times", as I said I'm new to the forum and I thought I'd post the mod here, but don't worry about it paintbringer (thanks anyway), I did ask why it wasn't being very popular, and that's a response I was looking for...
I think the problem is that it feels more like a small thing that makes the game easier, no new content or anything...there's noting wrong with the mod, just its nothing new.

Thanks for the info, I'll put up a .zip soon, but could you please tell me why it's not allowed?
A person who didn't buy minecraft can use it to play without an account. So just reobf and put those classes in the reobf folder into a .zip
That would be a good idea, but I was sort of in a hurry, I'll do that now.
Just want to know what I should change for future mods.

I'm happy that atleast one person downloaded the mod and liked it :smile.gif:

I won't quit modding but I do plan on looking for some online tutorials, and it's an art that I want to learn.
Oh yea, and
Thanks for the feedback!
