I am working at the moment on a feature , that if a block will destroy , it wont be destroyed. it will turned first into a damaged block , and the will be destroyed. i think it looks cool when your ship goes out of a fight and then it have some damged blocks.
Recipes for my armorplate mod are :
=planks =iron ingot
= 10 x light armor
= 10 x middle armor
= 10 x heavy armor

You can install the mod Like any other forge mod

MOD IS 1.3.2 !!!!!!!!!! So you can not play it with ships and boats at the moment

EDIT: Good Info , ive found out a way to make my idea possible , i think i can release the first armorplate that change when destroy soon

If there is enough interesting , i will make a ships and boats war moder / WW2 war server.
There will run Ships and boats, armorplates, Universal Electricity, ICBM (rocket mod), Green Energy,
and maybe IC² , BC, Atomic Science and some crossover mods

-repaired armorplate block, it will be created if you repair a destroyed armor plate. it has got an worser explosion resistance than the light armor plate.

I could see why the Airship block would cause you to soar away without hinderance by the sudden drop of a waterfall, but I would've thought the Ship block would follow the water...
