NOTICE:The mod team has gone bust, and will officially be defunct as of this point . Unfortunately, this means the team is done for. Good news is, the only remaining member will continue to work on the Mod!(I, Ghosrec35). The continuation of the mod is now on this thread! Check it out!
It actually goes into WIP Mods. No need to repost, if you ever need a topic moved or deleted, just PM any moderator in the section your in to have your request completed.

Interesting idea. I am making a mod: MinecraftMechanics. We should talk about compatibility between ElementsMod and MinecraftMechanics. I think they might be kind of cool together.

Two things:
1: This is awesome.
2: I have actually had the exact same idea for a month or two now. Looks like you beat me to it xD
Y'know, I was thinking something could happen if you got blocks of all the elements (the same way you get solid diamond, gold and iron blocks) and actually made a periodic table. Like, actually placing the blocks in order, and in the same positions, as what they are on the table.
Also, I say no to the purifier. Instead, multiple 'machines' could be made for different elements. For example, for carbon to diamond, a pressurizer or something. How about a freezer for mercury? It's found in its liquid state (So you'd find it like water or lava, and need a bucket to obtain it), and freezing a bucket of it would produce an ingot?
Anyway, keep up the good work. I REALLY want to see this finished!

I had the possible thought, that maybe something like a "Molecular Organizer" would be proper, since diamond/graphite/other materials created from carbon all are made from the organization of the molecules. I had the same thought as you really, but it was just a test block we made for now, depending on how the poll goes(if that many people actually visit this post, and participate in the poll), we will make our final decision.

I think this would be a great idea for a Mod Preview once the textures are finished :wink.gif:

You should tell me more about your code so i can look at how we can enhance both of them, by using them together

The original post is now updated a bit, feel free to leave your opinion on some of our ideas :smile.gif:
I've already been working on this thing, and it's the FOURTH elements mod!
The only ElementsMod's i've seen have had nothing to do with the actual elements, plus, why can't we give a go at it? Just because there have been versions before doesn't mean they lived up to their full potential, nor do we believe that ours will definitely be better than yours, or anyone elses. It's up to the community to decide that
To be honest. Since none or little is known about the elements 113-118. Im curious what are u gonna do with em?
We may have to delve into un-realistic waters, but i'm sure whatever we do end up deciding to do with them, will be for the good :smile.gif:
Also, thank you for being a realistic and decent human being in your response, especially seeing that you have a link to a mod you have made that follows along a somewhat synonymous path as ours will. I hope the best for your mod, good luck :smile.gif:
We'll definitely be including a link to your version of the "ElementsMod" sort of idea, as long as it is up to date of course
1. jamioflan's quote will be taken into serious consideration (as will anyone else's suggestions)
2. New Furnace types
3. Some uses have been displayed in the main post
For all the complete details, please visit the main post!

You could boil the compounds to separate them. It's a real chemical process... And it's a pretty simple concept. Add heat, receive components.
I mean, really, it's essentially a scientific furnace. You probably wouldn't even need to make a separate block for it at all, just use the regular furnace.
If you want to science it up, though, I guess I would suggest using a scientific furnace. Just to give it a sort of feel, like, "man, I'm doing science so hard right now". You know what I mean, right?

Lol, I love how you phrased this, and that's the best quote ever "man, I'm doing science so hard right now"
Anyway, now on to being relevant on the topic, thank you for the suggestion! I tried to keep them as realistic as possible, we will definitely be using your suggestion.
Again, Thank You!

No problem. Just the first thing that came to mind when thinking of scientifically purifying things.
I will definitely be doing science real hard when this mod comes out.
(Also, here's a bump for your topic.)
Lol, thanks :tongue.gif:
10/20/11 Update:
Ideas:
Atomic Crafting Bench - Used to arrange Atoms to create other Molecular structures (such as organizing carbon into the arrangement which can then be condensed into diamond; Thoughts?)
Condenser - Condense Atoms into useful Materials (again, my example is Carbon to Diamond)
Newly Implemented:
Bessemer Machine - Allows you to create Steel from Iron (Historically correct, as the Bessemer Process was the first process fit for Commercial Steel Production)
Installer:
For all those who might be considered a newb (Not NOOB! Noob is a Derogatory term), a batch script has been created which will allow for the Automatic Installation of the Mod Files upon release. For those of you who would like to install the files manually for some reason, no worries, the files themselves will be released seperately from the installer as per usual. (For those on other operating systems, we will also be releasing a Shell script version of the installer)
The basic purpose of this installer is to allow for anyone to expand their game of Minecraft using this Mod, whether they know how to manually add files or not.

Hey man! Epic mod you've got going there! I wrote this a little while ago, to see if anyone took my ideas, but alas, I was unheard. But then I found this and thought, well maybe these guys would be able to incorporate some of my ideas in your mod! Please take a look at this, I spent a while thinking it through, and writing it all down, so it would be appreciated if you were to, say 'steal' some of my ideas, if you so wish. Here goes...:
Hey! My name is James and I play Minecraft (duh, who doesn't :L). Recently I've been constantly adding more and more mods to my game, basically until the point where it can't handle it anymore But in the months that I've been laborously testing all these mods, I've never seen a mod which adds the use of elements. This troubles me . So I think, why not do it myself. Then before I even began, I literally destroyed my computers capabilites to run Minecraft (FAIL) and have given up on modding ever since. So I said to myself,"Why not ask the nice guys over on the Minecraft Forums?" *Jesus moment* So here's my idea...
The Elements Mod
This mod should add glass jars/vials which are to be used to contain the elements. This could be made like this:
NNN
NCN
NGN where N=Nothing, C=Cobblestone, G=Glass
Once you have said glass/vial, you could place it in your hand, and simply right-click to collect the element.
Now onto the actual elements
Special case: Oxygen
Oxygen could be found if you simply right-click thin-air with your glass/vial, and voila, you now have a bottle of oxygen! Genius!
Type 1: Gaseous Elements
Gaseous elements, such as hydrogen for example, could be found in gas pockets underground, floating, but not moving, like clouds. Rarer gases would be found further down in the ground. Just collect these elements up in your glass/vial and there you have a bottle of *insert gas here*.
Type 2: Solid Elements
Solid Elements, such as copper, would be found in veins underground just like original Minecraft ores, but would have to use a crafting bench to place it in the glass/vial, or in some cases, need the furnace to smelt it before placing in your glass/vials. As with the gases, the rarer the element, the further down underground.
Type 3: Liquid Elements
Liquid elements, such as mercury (?) would be found in small pools in caves. They would only be small due to too vast amounts of the elements would be taken. these would occur naturally, and you just need to scoop it up with your glass/vial.
The Periodic Table
the Periodic Table could be introduced into the game by crafting it using a piece of paper and 8 glass/vials of any element placed around it. Like so...
VVV
VPV
VVV Where V= Glass/vial and P=Paper
And Then you place it on your wall as a sign of your superior scientificosity (Yes, it's a real word, probably...)
But what is its use, I hear you ask? Weeeeeelll... If you were to, say, right-click your Periodic Table with an element, it would magically go into the correct slot in the GUI and change the appearance on the pretty picture on the wall! Collect them all and be proud of your collection!
But what is the real use for your elements? Well, water is H20... Voila, a way to utilise your amazing elements! First you must create an 'Element Combiner' or 'Atom Collider' (same thing...) by doing this...
VVV
VBV
III where V=Glass/vials B=Crafting Bench and I=Iron Ingots
Then, in said machine, you can merge your elements to create USEFUL ITEMS!!! For example...
In 'Element Combiner'/'Atom Collider'
NNN
HOH----->W
NNN where N=Nothing, H=Hydrogen Vial and O=Oxygen and the end result, W=Water! Hooray! We have reached the final stage of our mod! Now, all I need is for some kind modder to read this (PLEASE!!!) and create an amazing mod so the world can enjoy science! Okay, I think I've wasted enough of my sisters laptop charge, after mine blew up, so thanks for reading this and please, please, please consider my ideas. Thanks
Thanks :biggrin.gif:
Thank you for your great ideas about the elements mod, we are still working some things out about how to collect some elements but we will take your ideas into consideration.
Thanks again,
