In my Cyber city idea I thought there could be a big factory where the Cybermen spawn it would be like an Aether mod dungeon and the boss would be Cyberking... which brings me to the idea of a purpose of worlds they could have Dungeon like raid type things where you do quest(s) through the raid killing mobs and finally coming to the boss, your mission would be to save the worlds.
(For some reason I can't post anymore because of some restriction I need two more approved post... so I might be quiet or I might respond here so just look at this post from time to time)
But is it our job to progrm that to randomly generate, or build in hooks so things like that can be made in adventure maps, aka like adventurecraft is?
I think it's going to be neccassary to add multiple dimensions if we want to have all of these Mobs and items. We'll probably have to pick several key locations, that have alot of things in them from the show. I was thinking of maybe having it so you spawn in the TARDIS console room, somehow choose a destination, step out of the doors and BAM your there. You complete the tasks, save some people, beat a load of monsters get hold of a bunch of items and return to the TARDIS. Inside the TARDIS you can craft items with the stuff you have collected, and then head on to your next mission.
For the places, Stonehenge seems appropriate, along with Demons Run, maybe Satelite 5, New New Earth (Seeing as several stories take place there), maybe a UNIT base, that might be quite cool, Alien artifacts and live specimens (Good story here) and maybe a few other places. Any ideas?
That is one way I see it, yet I also see it like kolipoki where have too much detail, and you have less in the end.
That is by far a very true thing. It is something that I hope to be doing and others (I assume) as well. With only about 1 1/2 coders at the moment taking small and simple steps is a really good thing to be doing. I am remembering the phrase "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." As such that has been what I have been doing for the most part. I have been and will continue to put off the world creation. I have started with the Items and the mobs and the other coder was working on a time lock version of the tardis. I feel that we might/should release those parts together in a simple early release as you have said to continue the progression.
As for the TARDIS that has been the idea from the beginning, to be a interior that you can set up how you want it and make it your own base. I hope it can work as the way you want it. Also I'm hoping to be able to combine it with Aether such mods but have not really looked at such things yet because I have started with the items and mobs. I'm hoping that there was like a list of the worlds that were contained in the game but maybe not. If so that would be really nice :smile.gif:
Well as I just stated recently I did not want to add worlds just to have like a Dalek world with only daleks there. I felt that was just wasn't good enough. While I want this mod to have a good amount of detail into it, adding too much stuff will start losing detail and such.
You said that you didn't know the internal workings of the collab but these are just my thoughts. (also doing the easy things first :tongue.gif: ). Anyway I hoped this brought light to your thought's/questions/suggestions.
well said about the detail thing.
And also, You should be allowed to change the tardis, but also it should have its own mind to its appearance, although while in a 'regen' it could lose a customized room, you shouldn't ever lose items because of it. I think at least. Also you should be able to have it add to itself empty rooms for you to do whatever you want in.
Perhaps the TARDIS should start off as a simple console room like that of the very first one, and then you can use items and blocks to customise it yourself. Even changing the console for a different one. And of course, random empty rooms off corridors. :biggrin.gif:
I could see the TARDIS working as an Nether-style dimension that's 8x8 chunks big (i.e. a 128x128x128 block cube) with a pre-made console room (and indestructible entrance portal) in the centre, everything else filled by, let's say a new block "TARDIS coral" (essentially a block with nothing but the typical roundel on it) or something like that and then you can start building whatever you want in it. Making it a blank slate for you... after all, that's very much the Minecraft spirit! :smile.gif:
Certainly! I want to be able to fly it in some way though. The console should have, let's say four parts- the equivalant of the Time Rotor for the center, then the equivalant of a furnace, crafting table, navigation block, and chest around it :biggrin.gif:

Actually all sides are related to flight or function.

Yes, but we don't want to have to walk around the console clicking different blocks in different ways and stuff just to get to another world. :tongue.gif:

You don't have to, it just will be less accurate landing and or damage your tardis.
We, or rather I felt it balanced out gameplay, made it kinda more awesome, think frantic doctor scenes from most episodes, and allows time for things to load out of the tardis to make it seem more seamless, unlike most 'teleports'.

The image of the frantic Doctor scenes did come inot my mind, but it's hard to replicate that in minecraft. You don't get to pull levers and press buttons and twist knowbs. It'd be push a single button on a block, click a block, pull a lever on a block, click a block. And you can't run. It just seems like a bit of pointless roleplay. Of course that essentially takes somethign away form the whole point of the mod, but I don't think that kind of thing is easy to achieve- just like trying to achieve running down corridors- it'd have to be all closed off and we'd have to make sure the mobs follow you properly and you can't acctually run very fast so... I just think it's something that's not needed. I don't think it'd be all that fun. I'd want to go out and explore, not walk around my console clicking!
I'd want to go out and explore, not walk around my console clicking!
That would be really hard to code anyway. We could still have it just be a random offset like between 0-50 blocks of landed where you meant to go but only doing that like 10% of the time.
It would be able to travel through x, y, and z coords
It would have several rooms just like the actual tardis all connected by hallways
Infinetely generates like the tardis in the programme?
Be the about the size of 4 doors all placed to make a square? actually a custum model aka like planes mod.
Doesn't always do exactly what you want whether a few bloks off ten so blocks off, or not at all like you wanted
Can have set places, i.e. home, mine, etc.
Acquisition:
The Tardis is attractted to fluctuations in the time space continuum. Obtaining Huon Particles will attract the Tardis to a spot near your location.
When The TARDIS takes To much damage you will not be able to use it for 2 minecraft days and it would change the inside of the TARDIS
When you die the tardis generates new internals, but leaves any stored items?
SONIC SCREWDRIVER
We figure it will have a regenerating bar, and would be useless if you drain it completely. Otherwise it SHOULD be fully functional.
Powers redstone
Opens doors
May be required to damage new mobs(daleks)- more likely just to push mobs backwards aka snowball. Effects on Mechanical and electronic Mobs are Only possible at VERY close range (1-3 blocks) (Playtest first)
Activates any redstone powered device without redstone (aka pistons dispensors etc.)
Range of basic effects (powering redstone/devices normally powered by said dust) 10 Meters.
Disable power on redstone
If applying sonic stimulation to redstone for to long of time with out proper technique (pressing control?) the redstone will will "pop off" do to sonic vibrations slowly dislodging the redstone by keeping a constant frequency
It can activate creeper timers and can detonate Tnt by using the right combo of buttons (ctrl, alt, or e)
Acquisition:
The Tenth Doctor's Screwdriver:
The Eleventh Doctor's Screwdriver:
Lime dye over already constructured sonic. Also extends the range by 2 or 3 blocks.
(crafting picture)
(sprite picture)
HUON PARTICLES
Smelting glowdust and adding the result to water creates Huon Particles. Drinking it will cause some flucuations in the time space continuum and the tardis will spawn near by. Now if only you had a key...
Acquisition:
Huon Particles: Place Glowdust in furnace
huon Energy: (crafting picture)
Huon Particles
Huon Energy
FOBWATCH
Always in the player's inventory until it opens and cannot be lost. It will spawn with player if they die, and will return to inventory if lost. A bar at bottom will slowly fill up. If you die, the bar will reset. When it is full, it can be opened to unlock a memory of who you really are with the key to your tardis.
DALEKANIUM
Dalekanium can be used to make armor that allows limited flight/hovering.
PLANETS:
Skaro
Cybus
Galifrey wait how would you get there?um pretend in the minecraft dimmension it was never time locked?
(slitheens-same planet different eons)
Please give us more ideas for this!
MOBS:
Daleks
Daleks would run around saying exterminate. They travel on the ground normally but will fly if they can't reach you (I.e You are on a mountain)
Weapon: Laser (faster version of ghast fireballs) (Might Break all but Obsidian, Diamond Blocks, and Iron Blocks (And of course Adminium))
Spawn:Skaro
Drops: dalekanium
Cybermen
Weapon: Walks around and attack like zombies at close range but attack at a farther range with an occasional laser.
Spawn: Cybus, plus random invasions (possibility depending on abilities).
Drops: Iron
Cat People
Friendly creatures that will heal you a couple of hearts (One minute delay between heals).
Weapon: Friendly
Spawn:
Drops:Nothing
Gangers
Ganger pools in nether. The gangers are pigman zombies that looks like a ganger They are friendly until you attack.
Weapon: Sword/Bow
Spawn: Falling into the ganger pool will spawn them.
Drops: ?
As for the goop, you can pick it up with a bucket.
Weeping Angels
The creatures that cannot move when you look at them or each other (possibility).
Weapon: Physical Attack.
Spawn: In dark caves
Drops: Weeping-Stone a more resilient stone than regular stone near the obsidian level. Looks like tears are rolling down it.
Special: Using the sonic screwdriver on them to collect weeping stone like sheep drop wool. A weeping pick can be created allow for damage to actually be done.
MUSIC:
Music will be added to give the user a more authentic 'Whovian' feel, and to create a more diverse mod. Instead/in addition to discs music will be an extension of the background music. and certain events will trigger certain music (like travelling in the tardis will be doctor who's theme, dalek invasion will be some sort of invasion dalek music). Maybe a special disk or two with a song on it.
REGENERATION:
Occurs on death allowing the player to continue their life in a different form after near death experiences.
Occurs on Regeneration:
Your skin gets replaced by a new one randomly selected from a 'pot' of several skins, and a regeneration animation.
Any damageable items on your body get damaged and a few of your other items might be flung out of your inv.
Before you regenerate though, it takes a moment, and you only get 3 (or so, haven't decided) orange colored hearts in your heart bar and if you lose them you die and re-spawn, (just how if the doctor is killed during a regen it stops and that is the end, just watch the Impossible Astronaut or read of on regeneration in the wiki)
Maybe on hard mode if you die during a regen you lose the ability to play the save, permanent game over, like some other mods have done. Also I don't know if the regens should be capped at 12 regenerations or not. maybe there should be a way to gain more...

must have a bow tie and a fezz, but make it so that you find a fez randomly and just as randomly River Song comes and destroys the fez, just for the hell of it
Suggestion: Make the Sonic Screwdriver harder to craft.
Instead of redstone, perhaps glowstone dust?
Why? It's not that overpowered. Glowstone dust isn't that hard to get either; you have to get it anyway if you want a TARDIS, and I know I won't keep track of how much I mined.
And I thought of another idea for TARDIS customization. We already plan for there to be a room creation feature, that creates a blank room for you to edit. What if you could also enter in a seed that would determine where your room would be created, and the type of room?
No seed means a blank room in a random direction.
The first 2 digits of the seed determine the direction. 00 is in a random direction, 01-05 is any of the 6 cubic directions (imagine a cube surrounding the main room of the TARDIS), not including straight up (because the time rotor is there). 06-13 is the imaginary cube edges. 14-21 is the cube corners. If a room is already in that position, it will make a room behind it or something.
The next 2 digits could be the type of room, with 00 being a blank room and 99 being a random room. The other rooms could be a library, swimming pool, stuff like that. Perhaps typing the name of the room type in will work too.
The digits after the first four are irrelevant.
Typing anything else for the seed will give you a random room in a random direction.
I dunno. Is this a good idea? It definately won't be in the first release of the mod, and probably not the second or third. But if anyone is up for a coding challenge, you can work on that after the mod is released.

Of course, you would also have a button that sends you to a random location. The TARDIS is attracted to disaster, so it would probably put you closer to lava pits...
I love your commitment, but i noticed on the poll, majority voted on making new ores for the sonic screwdriver. This is probably because you aren't done and don't have time for it yet, and I will take no offense if I am ignored.
Yes, but that hasn't been released yet. Anyway, running in Minecraft isn't the same as leaping around the console. I honestly don't think that's something that could be achieved. :smile.gif:

Note: I will put up a more permanent google docs, but for now this one is open to all.

LOL when I first heard about the "Enderman" I said "Wow that remind's me on Weeping Angels. Seriosly love the idea of the Doctor Who mod!
