Exploring and conquering generated structures in Minecraft is one of the most exciting parts of the game, and provides specific and challenging goals to work towards within your world. Sure, building a house or creating a redstone contraption has a fun of its own, but the excitement of, for instance, finding an ocean monument, diving down and methodically working your way through the rooms, and then finally attaining sponges and draining the building can't quite be topped.
Because of this, I've been working on texturing and creating concepts for a mod these past two weeks, and I would love if someone was able to bring it to life. The mod would add a number of structures and new mobs/variations of existing mobs. It would not alter any vanilla components of the game at all, but would instead add new places to discover and overcome for the reward of useful loot items. The mod should feel almost completely vanilla and blend well with the current feel of the game. Here are some (but not all) of my specific ideas:
Illager Tunnels: For lack of a better name as of now, these structures are made of green brick and have a small entrance above ground, which leads into the sprawling tunnels below. The structure is filled with various interconnected rooms, new types of illagers, and traps unique to the structure. It is earth-themed, and its illager inhabitants have the ability to shoot vines and similar attacks. There are many areas filled with trees and other plants being tended to by the illagers, and at the bottom of the entire structure is the "tunnel core" (again, for lack of a better name currently) which can be used for a to-be-decided purpose. Overall, having to move through the tunnels bit by bit means that there is a good amount of progression within the structure, and the traps mean that some thinking has to be done to get through as well.
Ancient Libraries: There is no explicit lore in Minecraft, but there are a lot of elements that leave the player with things to think about. Where did the stronghold come from? Are the underwater ruins made from stone brick from the same civilization that constructed it? This kind of implied lore is something that I think is really fun about the game, as it leaves a lot to the imagination. Building off of that a bit, I wanted to add ancient libraries that spawn rarely in the world, built from ancient stone brick similarly to the stronghold (see attached photo for library design concept). Rather than being abandoned however, inside of every library there are elder villagers who, using the ancient knowledge within the library, have magically survived despite their old age. This would add a neat bit of depth for the player to think about, but the library would also have a floating centre-piece that could be taken and used to harness a bit of that ancient knowledge.
I have plenty more ideas, but I don't want to make anyone have to read too much, and I also feel as though these structures will look far better than they sound by my limited ability to describe them. The main takeaway is that I would like a large vanilla exploration expansion, and that I would love to collaborate on it by creating the textures and working with the modder to produce ideas.
Thanks for reading, and let me know if you're interested!
Hi ! Your ideas are sweet and I think it's pretty easy to do. The thing is I have also a project idea and I'm at the same point than you, I only know how to make textures and concepts... But why we don't try both to learn to mod and help each other ?
(Btw... Kongu like the bionicle character ? Are you a Bionicle fan ?)
Thanks! I'm glad you like my ideas, and I have a huge list of features I plan to implement. A lot of them are a bit more complicated though, such as a custom boss and magic items. I'm curious what your project ideas is, but I'm not sure if working together would help either of us out a ton if the ideas aren't really similar. Give me a bit more info though and I'll see.
Yeah it's the username I use for everything. It is from Bionicle, I liked the Mahri wave. :')
Hey, this idea is very interesting and I actually wouldn't mind working on it, if you wouldn't mind dming me what you have already and we can discuss from there.

I'd be happy to! I'll do that now!
