I've had these 2 ideas for mods for awhile now, but my coding level is very basic bordering on non-existent. So I thought perhaps I might post them here and see if anyone with the know-how agrees enough to code them.
My first idea is for a sasquatch mob, that would appear(rarely to almost never)in taiga hills and ice biomes. The sasquatch would be roughly 3 blocks tall(like the enderman), I suppose. It would almost blend perfectly into the spruce bark for camoflauge and would run from players on sight; occasionally it would throw dirt blocks in the direction of the player in an attempt to ward them off. Sasquatch would hate zombies and attack them on sight. The best part of this idea though is players would also find footprints in the snow, which they could make castings of with clay(for a sort of trophy).
My second idea for a mod is what I call a 'bookworm' mod. I would like a mod that doesn't over-complicate using bookshelves for book storage; just have the mod allow for storage of maybe 5 books(enchanted, original or blank books). The best part of this mod would be that it would add into the game original books(like those written with ink and quills)for the players to find. These book would be exclusive to certain locations(or even exclusive to certain mobs like villager zombies)and could vary in rarity. For example, the player might find cookbooks simply by fishing, but a book on witchcraft could only be found in a witch's hut. Maybe a book on demonology could only be found in a nether fortress; the possibilities are endless. Which is also why this mod should allow players(or administrators)to write these books with a txt file; my original idea was for this mod to use a txt file with a header that would designate where books could be found and rarity. You might have a text file for each book in a sub-folder somewhere so that more could be added in easily at any time. I think this mod could add another dimension to minecraft as it might give players another goal of collecting a complete library.
Anyway those are my ideas, please let me know where to find them if you decide to use them.
