So I am looking for someone make a medium to large sized mod which I think would be an interesting spin on crafting tools/weapons/armor. (ideally for 1.12.2)
To begin with, as the title says, this would be a blacksmithing mod, making tools, weapons and armor. However keeping it fairly limited in the creations themselves and using base vanilla items, but with altered effects.
Items:
Wooden tools could be crafted as normal, in a crafting table. However when they are crafted they will have a random range of stats. I.E. 0.4-1.0 Attack speed, and 1-2 half-hearts of damage, and 10-59 [Max] Durability (repairing it wont repair past the max). This lets you get the stone required to make a Stone Forge [see Blocks Added]. Items in the stone forge could be crafted in a similar/same fashion [see GUI below], however a wooden pick crafted with a forge would have a different (ideally better) range of stats, such as 0.8-1.4 Attack speed, and 2-5 half-hearts of damage, and 40-70 [Max] Durability
Armor would all be crafted in the forge (possibly including access to chain mail as an added recipe).
Blocks added:
Stone Forge - The very first forge to be able to craft crude tools. By adding a crafting element and an anvil with a furnace, you are able to work and use molten stone and metal. Tools/weapons crafted in this have generally lower damage, speed, and durability (in comparison to the regular vanilla weapons/tools).
Metal Forge - Utilizing stronger metals and molten lava itself, you are able to craft higher quality metal tools. Some of the time they might even have added benefits like speed, luck, or even extra armor.
Gem Forge - After learning how to manipulate lapis in to your weapons with your very essence (experience) and imbuing them with power, you now can craft with gems and precious stones that add magical effects (enchantments) to your creations.
Masters Forge - The culmination of all your hard work, you have proven yourself a master of your craft, and now pieces you make will occassionaly be masterworks. In addition to that, you can now add lore to your creations, as well as emboss pieces, increasing their efficiency, and granting extra benefits. You can also remove or add additional gems with this forge too.
GUI:
Stone Forge - Glorified crafting table that also has some anvil functionality (renaming and repairing), takes time to craft varying levels of items (I.E. 3 seconds for a stone tool, 5 for iron, all configureable possibly?)
Metal Forge - Same thing as the stone forge, UI wise. Just crafts higher quality items.
Gem Forge - Allows you to put specified gems/items in the side (extra crafting slots) that will add enchants depending on the (configurable) amount. I.E. 24 Emeralds could add fortune 3, 60 obsidian could add Unbreaking 3, 25 Iron blocks could add Sharpness 5, 60 Bookshelves Could add mending, etc. etc. (The numbers/items could/should be configurable).
Master Forge - Adds two more extra crafting slots for gems (so you could have a total of 5 enchantments), 2 extra name bars to add lore to items (below the name bar for anvil) the anvil section also works as an embosser, taking specified items to add a range of enhancements (I.E. Sugar Emboss would give 1-10% speed or something when it's in main hand, gold emboss could add a mining speed, iron could add damage, diamond could increase durability).
This same functionality could also be applied to armors crafted in the forge too.
Another option would to be having simple(r) UIs such as follows:
There are two directions you could go with this, one allowing molten fluids and having fluid storage in the forges, which would be a great inclusion. Simply having fluid selected and then what type of item you are making (I.E. Pickaxe) could work just fine.
------------------------------
Additional feature:
-Forges store how many tools/weapons/armors have been crafted in them, and require a collective amount of X to be upgraded to the next tier.
-If NBT can be transferred over in the process of upgrading it, maybe even making the lower end of the range (up to a point) higher.
-Minetweaker/Modtweaker support
Note: Sorry for my lack of artistic ability with the MS Paint pictures. If anyone is interested in making this mod, or if other people would like it. I'd love feedback.
