I've had this idea for a few months, and I thought today that maybe I should make a thread on it. What if there was a mod that let you designate a video file to be played on Minecraft's startup (like's valve's valve.bik in their games)?
What do you guys think of this idea? I'm sure it wouldn't be possible without some base editing, but do you think it would be a cool idea? Also, I'm not saying I'm making this, I'm just getting you guys' opinion on this idea.

I think I may have originally been Twilight Sparkle... Either way, SHE'S MAH FAVE!
Well the video need some ressources aswell. If that doesn't matter..
I would skip video and implement minigames while loading time.
So you don't have to watch all the time the same video and u can play instead minigames like pacman.. ;-)
It's a good idea in concept, although those games would in turn need be loaded themselves, and it would eat up (no pun intended) more system resources.
And where I was going with the configurable startup video (changed the thread title), was that you could put in whatever cool startup video you wanted for your modpack. (Like I could put in the valve startup vid for my Portal Modpack Map.)

no, use a short video that's just about 5 seconds, not something as long as Minecraft takes to load
Well, Minecraft would still need the same amount of time to load, you'd see a video as well. (I suppose such a mod could also have a configurable image to be displayed after the video if Minecraft is still booting up.)
