I don't know if it exists already, but I looked it up. I found nothing. So I was thinking there could be a mirror mod where you can see your reflection in a certain block. :3

1 this thread may or may not be in the wrong section
2 a mirror mod would be cool but it would require rendering minecraft twice that can be intense on certain computers i beleive ichun(a well known modder) has done something similar with his portal gun mod

Even iChun had performance issues with being able to see through the portals in his Portal Gun mod. I believe he disabled that feature for a few releases, but might have turned it back on since then.

thats too bad that he removed it but shaders that use water reflection that does not cuase too big of issues and mojang has hinted on shaders being default that means mirror mods could be seen in the future

While Mojang has hinted at enabling support for "shaders", this is not the same kind of shaders that you can find with the "Shaders Mod". These shaders modify the rendering engine that Minecraft uses, whereas the "Shaders" that Mojang may implement simply add an effect of overlay to the already rendered image, such as "scanlines" reminiscent of old CRT monitors.
So what happens when you put two mirrors facing each other? Or having multiple mirrors/mirrored walls and buildings all reflecting off each other?
And you can guarantee someone will make a box of mirrors to sit inside.
The water shader effect is intensive enough, without adding in that many reflections.

The games Portal and Portal 2 had a safeguard for this where if you did that, it would only render 2 reflection loops before just using the same one over and over again to create the effect of being able to see it to infinity, but without the obvious performance issues.
Speaking of mirrors, once I had an idea of making an inverted dimension. If you walked into a mirror on the ground for example, you would be put in an upside-down version of your house (Weird, I know). Normal mirrors would be cool tough

What is this, Steve through the looking glass? Plus, it would be insanely hard to code due to having everything change when you place a single block in one dimension to coordinate for the other (Think of the inverted dimension in Pokemon, only in Minecraft, where if something touches another thing in Giratina's dimension, an explosion happens at that place in the real world), and what would happen if you fell into the sky? Steve in the sky of Diamonds?

I know, that's why I instantly scrapped the idea xD

Davidee did it a while back in 1.2.5, I wish mojang could just add the saught after mirror block -3-
